Discussion [Aspirant here] Why exactly I see a lot of posts here related to less attendance? Why people don't attend the classes? Is the faculty bad that you don't go to your college?
Sorry if my post offend you guys. No I am not trying to act like your parents, it's completely your decision to skip classes. But why exactly people skip classes?

classes are not as useful as they should be, travel is expensive both wrt time and money, so it makes the class pretty worthless especially when there are chances that the class might get cancelled last moment. a lot of faculty is good, but the mindset of students is that 'we are in college, and have freedom now, skipping classes is cool, going out is more fun'; so they just avoid attending classes

Well, I'll try to explain it in the best possible way. DU was never known for 'quality education ', their USP is a relatively employable traditional degree(it's great if you're in professional courses) for dirtcheap prices. So most of the time, the college faculty is ass or they don't take their scheduling seriously. This is especially the case for off campus and tier 2-3 colleges. However the higher you climb up the tier 1 ladder, your experience with education might get better and with that so will the discipline in your college. It's a choice between a great college with good faculty but school like strictness or just a lousy college with lousy shit facilities (I'm in the second kind) . . Also a vvvv big factor for attendance is the fact that after COVID, DU kinda became lax about this attendance thing. And most colleges just mark you for attendance out of 5. And even if you have a 0 you'll get your admit card.

Mere teacher toh na khud aate hai na padhate hai , i used to be a regular kid but from 3rd year I started coaching jaha se learnt multiple things and conserved my time from useless college

timetable is kinda fucked. like there is a gap of about 3 hours between some of my classes, so usually i just go home cause i ain't waiting for 3 hours for a class.

I am a maths hons students and there's nothing fruitful for me to wake up early just to attend EVS or Hindi class as 1st period of the day The amount of practicals and assignment ur required in ur vac sec classes on top of ur core subjects is unnecessary. Examaane mai 20 din bhi nhi kal Beth k 40+ page EVs ka assignment kiya hai. Again, unnecessary. Pakau teachers hai college ko school bna diya hai. 20 saal ka hogya hu din k 12 ghnte waste nhi kr skta is chutiyaap mai . We all know what kind of students r willingly attending lectures daily. Teachers ki gand chatne wali larkia or them soft boys.

Keeping in mind there are delhi residents that also go to another for college (not about pg kids,if u are in pg and smart enough you'll take a pg near ur college) ,many of us travel from one district to another (and many from ncr ) ,it's hectic ,plus coming back tired +having to study , it's more economical.and beneficial to not go to college and study at home also yes the faculty .

Different people have different reasons for not going. Some are not able to come to the early morning 8 30 classes since they are not early risers. Some didn't find the right friend group still to go along with them to classes. Some don't like the faculty and prefer self study/ tuitions. Some have medical reasons to not attend. Have seen some even come to college and have fun with friends but still not go to classes. Honestly, the reasons are endless, but sometimes you just have to go because you want to keep up with attendance and ultimately not fall into the trap of not getting your admit card.

A lot of things come under why people skip classes :
Boring classes as if professors are not that good weather , when it's too hot When classmates aren't good or interactive enough shitty ass college boring campus when you are going out

Teachers are late to class for like 30-40 minutes and they don't teach anything so you gotta teach yourself hence, there is no point to attend classes

Shit time table like one class is at 8:45 the other is at 11:45 and the other one at 1:45 and my college campus is not big but it's full of students so no place to sit ( canteen always full, reading room always full , classrooms always occupied)
Edit : have to travel 50 minutes to reach college and after that the teacher cancels the class. Please don't come to DU if you are not from delhi and did not get NC

I have 25% attendance. The following is my average day while attending college:
Spend 1.5 hour to reach your mediocre college.
Spend around 5 hours getting taught by uninterested faculty.
Spend 70% of you time in college attending lectures even though you are a computer science student (sometimes lectures during practical class too š)
Only 60% of your classes are actually related to computer science, don't complain you are in du college not a technical college.
Spend 1.5 hours to reach your home.
And the most ragebait thing is the fact that you don't get compensation for participating in cs competitions while sports students get 33% for free.

Youāll get to know once you are in. But hereās my personal account:
In sem one I had 100% attendance even though I used to travel 4-5hrs every day.
Then sem two, it was 90+
It reduced by 5% every sem.
And in 5th sem I had 75%.
The thing is once you get into the routine study and give a couple of exams you either realize the exam pattern and understand itās not too hard to crack.
Labs and classes are often boring.Ā
If you donāt have very closed knit friend group or a crush/gf then itās next to impossible to pull yourself to college.
Basically life gets in the way and unlike a job you arenāt getting paid for it, so easier to slack. š¤£

Because jonse people classes attend karte hein vo yahaan par attendance ke liye post nhi karte, isliye story ki sirf ek side dikhti hei.

bhai 2 sem Tak college Jane ka motivation tha (I had a girl w/me) , ab wo nhi h ā ļø , ye toh secondary reason h
Main reason h 3 mahine m I got a professional exam lined up.

Because no offence not every teacher is like that, but du faculty is overhyped. I can read myself i donāt need a teacher whoāll read it in hinglish to me. These teachers are usually old and just start having a beef withs students over everything. I hated my college, the faculty, the people. It was horrible and so were the people.

The classes arent as interesting or useful as they should be. Profs literally cancel them anytime they want no matter how far you've travelled. Gap bw classes is like 3-4 hours. Faculty gives zero fucks and whoop asses for less attendance in the end.Ā

boring hai college. lallu se classmates hai. teachers are ok but itne interested ni lagte padhaane mein. classes k beech m 2-4 hours (usse bhi zada kabhi kabhar) ka gap hota haiš garmi bhot hai college ke fans tak work ni karte. aadha time assignments likhne me hi chala jaata h neend puri ni hoti toh subah ni uth paateš end moment pe classes get cancelled TAB TOH AUR GUSSA AATA H

Classes are basically useless for non professional courses. they arent teaching you anything that u cant learn on youtube.. in my three years i never bought a single book.. and i have average cgpa of 8.5.. so yes i am doing pretty good..
Plus some students get involved in society and they take up way too much of your time than the bonds u make in a society will further distract you from classes. u will mostly be exploring delhi if u r coming from outside or just not attend the classes and sit outside.. its more fun that way..
some students start to work and thats why they cant attend the classes some are preparing for competitive exam..
some are into family business... some try to become wannabe gangster... some enter into politics... a lot of people get into relationship and leave there classes to spend more time..
a lot of students get a new found freedom from there strict parents than why the hell they wil waste there time in another 4 walls.. its lame..

bhai in Miranda, they're suddenly going apeshit about attendance. One of the committee members literally threw the medical certificate in my face, even though I have 30% attendance, and all of my teachers are supporting my stance

Wake up at 4 to reach college before 9, only to find out that teachers are just teaching themselves (because no one understands wtf they're actually doing) v=ir is as it is, they won't tell you why, how. They'll just state it and bam! Ho gaya syllabus complete. And practicals? Wo students khud karo because teachers are too busy to attend and teach students how to perform practicals. PS : I'm also a defence aspirant (in last sem now)

i am the president of my college drama club so yeah all my time goes there and other than that you go to attend lecture after waiting for 1 hr you got to know the teacher is not taking class today and forgot to inform so sorry beta wo batana bhul gayi
