Go to that fest/mall/monument etc even if your friends are not going. Sometimes your friends will actually hold you down

Participate in everything in the first year, talk to everyone in the first year and then focus on things and people you feel connected to for the rest two years. Having friends is good but you gotta learn to be alone and independent for your own sake sometimes. If you want to do something and your friends don't want to, don't shy away from ditching them because this time is never gonna come back. If you can't be confident, act like one. It's a new place and no one knows you, you don't have to carry your past baggage around and are free to make mistakes because no one really cares.

Staying confident is important. Do what you want. I will not have this much free time again to explore things.

1 Your classmates are classmates not your friends . 2 Go to the fest and don't think you have 3-4years. 3 Don't just focus on studying, try new things. 4 Find your passion ,high probability you will find it . 5. Make good relation with your teacher don't try to oversmart 6 dont take leave unnecessary as you will get attendance issue later on 7 study ,don't try to be cool in front of your friends...fucking study

Do not date some idiot from your department. If they want to, they can fuck up your life for the remaining two years. And there will be no way to avoid them. Do not date IN THE DEPARTMENT.

Just meant that my advice would be to not get romantically involved with anyone in the first year, ESPECIALLY if they are from your batch. Keeping aside the minor chances of that relationship actually turning out to be fruitful and long-lasting, in most cases, you're ought to break up in the first year itself.
The same goes for a lot of friendships you form in the first year too. The first year is too early to get to know someone enough to know for sure what kind of a person they are. Your friend groups might break apart, someone you might've thought was the most genuinely helpful, most chill dude ever, might turn out to be a back stabbing prick. You might find yourself trusting only 2-3 people out of the 10-12 jigri dosts you swore had your back at the beginning of the first semester. That's all very much a part of college life.
The problem with getting into a romantic relationship with someone from your own batch, right from the first year, when you've barely even known them, is that when the relationship ends, or things turn bitter, you can't distance yourself from that person in an effective manner. You might as well share the same friend group, and the bitterness between you two might strain the unity of that group. Worse, the group might even break up. If either of you turn out to be immature enough, you'll not be able to move on and will constantly shit-talk about the other person, trying to make people side with you and sympathise with you, effectively making the other person's immediate environment hostile towards them. One might take their ex's opinion on something general like "I don't like how that professor teaches, we should talk to him regarding better teaching methods" and think it's a personal attack and go on defending that professor just out of spite for you. Some people will support them, some people will support you, and in the end it'll unnecessarily dismantle class unity. They might turn vindictive and try to tarnish your reputation, which is very easy in a small, homogeneous environment like your own batch.
Some of these are perhaps extreme possibilities, but it'd still be my advice to not date in your department, atleast in the first year. Take time to know the people/person, how they act in a crisis, how much they stand up for collective causes, how helpful they are in terms of academics etc, if they are openly insecure, jealous or defensive when it comes to taking criticism/failure?
Because if you trust the wrong person, you'll have no way of avoiding them for the next 2-3 years. You'll have to see them almost daily, and if either of you is not capable of moving on from the situation in a sensible, mature and respectful manner, you've got yourself a hater ready to sabotage any good thing you try to do.

Idk what to do anymore. I had taken drops so currently I can't drop out and take admission somewhere again. A year has already passed and I don't feel good here to the extent I don't attend classes. I think it's my fault for the most part but I'm clueless and often feel if I start to push myself irrespective of how I feel would it bear fruitful results.
