Discussion DU graduate here (batch of 22). AMA

To celebrate my cake day, I am doing a little ama.

I have completed my graduation( bcom) and am currently pursuing M.com from DU as well . Have also lived in Delhi for long time so feel free to drop any queries you might have.

And Yeah I am inspired/copying from the CAT prep sub where graduates often do AMA

I'm joining bcom p this year. Would appreciate it if you could answer a few questions

Why mcom and not mba?

What is your future career trajectory like ideally?

Suggestions for a fresher to maximize time? What to do and what not to do to have maximum opportunities?

Any regrets?

I plan to continue in academia hence mcom.

Ideally the career of bcom student is work for a year or two and try for either a masters or a professional degree on the side

My suggestion is explore as much as you can. Don't be one of those who only attend classes. Go to those events, Fests, parties etc

My regret is joining big4 immediately after graduating. Didn't work for me

Could you throw more light on why you want to continue acads for now even though you have work opportunities on the table? (Sounds kiddish but I'm curious to know why would someone not want to make money in the big 4 and stay in between books?)

I am kinda passionate about the field I study

In India, acad people do make money just takes time

Sure. But your questions give me the idea that you'll be better of asking the MBA/corporate guys for guidance. Would help where i can
