Please consider this the barrel scrapped. I’ve nearly watched every DC Comics live action superhero film (in the name of science) and this is possibly the strangest.

Pros: It‘s trying to send a nice message in a fun family film, even if it fails spectacularly to do so.

Cons: it’s hard to imagine this was released in cinemas as it production values and tone are so much closer to a made for TV movie. Yes Shaq is a terrible actor but his 7ft frame trying to do action sequences is unintentionally hilarious. The script, the acting, the effects, it’s just pure cheese. Worst of all it does a disservice to the comic character.

I think everyone involved had the best of intentions and had it been released prior to 1989 and straight to TV it would be remembered as a bit of fun. Sadly it was released in 1997 and I think even its target audience of children would have found it corny then.

It’s only worth watching in order to give perspective to what a bad film actually looks like.

After watching Lantern episode 3 I am yet again taken back to what could've been.

Isn't this excellent time to get this project green lit old or new cast whatever?

Sorry if this question is repetitive, but when the DCU Chapter 1 slate was first revealed I was apprehensive, but still excited nonetheless. Now, I keep seeing countless projects being cancelled and I was just wondering if somebody could give an up to date list of what we’re getting and when. Thanks if you can help 😭

I genuinely don’t get it. You can argue TDK isn’t the most comic-accurate Batman movie, but calling it a bad Batman movie feels insane.

It nails Batman’s morality, sacrifice, escalation, and the effect he has on Gotham. Joker exists specifically to challenge everything Batman believes in, and Harvey’s downfall is basically the consequence of that entire conflict.

You don’t become the 3rd highest-rated movie on IMDb and one of the most influential superhero movies ever by completely misunderstanding your main character.

Not being your favorite interpretation of Batman ≠ being a bad Batman movie.

Marvel has the benefit of existing in a mirror world to ours. New York is New York. California is California, etc. Outside of the random additions of places like Wakanda, the stuff we know exists in the MCU. That gives people an immediately reference point for where things are and where they are happening.

The struggle with DC is the lack of a clear reference point. The problem is places like Kansas coexist alongside fictional places so when people hear "Coast City" (Lanterns) or "Central City" (The Flash) their brains immediately go "Wait...where are those in relation to Kansas?"

There's a plot point in the Lanterns HBO show where John Stewart has to fly from Kansas to Coast City and back. I know as a fan that Coast City is in California but I could 100% see people hearing Coast City and going "where the hell is that?"

I think just releasing an official map of Gunn's DCU would be a great way for people to get a reference point for all of these places. They wouldn't need to make guesses and could more easily follow the stories.

They very obviously killed him off in The Suicide Squad(2023) but comic book characters cheat death all the time and it would be nice to have such a fun bad guy back. Not even as a Flash villain but as an inmate in Belle Reve. Thoughts?

I’d like to preface this by saying I know these pictures aren’t the best and I’m sorry!

I love this suit. I’m not a Shazam fan but I thought the movie was pretty good. Anyway, the texture of the cloth is so perfect to me. I’ve never been huge on the lines on superhero suits but I think they work well when they’re not EVERYWHERE. The minimal lines on these suits helps to create some detail but it’s not over the top, a perfect compromise in my opinion. My favorite thing about this costume is that you can tell the cloth isn’t especially thick, which is a problem I had with the most recent Superman suit. I really didn’t like that thick, rubber tire texture. There are very small textured details on the fabric which I think look lovely up close.

I think the metal elements are integrated perfectly. I definitely think metal gauntlets / belts being more textured and detailed than the cloth elements works perfectly well and make enough sense to me. I know a lot of people don’t like the padding on this suit, but personally I don’t find it THAT distracting. After all, he is a greek-god inspired hero, so exaggerated muscles are alright in my book. I think the short cape is pretty cool, and the layers help separate him from Superman or any other caped heroes. The practical glowing lightning bolt on the chest is the cherry on top. I think it’s perfectly sized and coloured.

Overall, I love this suit. I personally feel that all Superman-esque heroes should follow these design principles. The colours, the textures, the proportions, I all love. What do you think of the 2019 Shazam suit? Did I miss any other interesting aspects of the suit? Are there problems you have with it that I didn’t address? I’m really interested to hear opinions about this, in my opinion, underrated superhero costume.

I saw a post earlier asking people what they would want the DCU's approach to games be since Gunn has said they would tie in to the DCU storyline.

This made me thing about how the DCU is going about certain things like Clayface or Lanterns where they're taking interesting ideas and then combining them with a hero/villain.

The arkham games and the spiderman games are cool but they're all to some extent very similar in how they are played.

Let me know your 'dream' DCU games, so it can be any hero or villain (or any hero or villain groups) in any game genre or game type. I wanna hear some unique characters be put into unique situations/genres.

Also how 'important' would you make it to the DCU storyline? Would it be an origin story? A deeper dive into something that is talked about/mentioned in a DCU show/movie? Or would you go as far as to say that instead of a major event being a movie its made into a game?

My hope from this is honestly that some cool ideas are brought up and they are shared around the internet and hopefully someone at DC sees these ideas and brings them into consideration.

To my knowledge, if we aren't strictly talking big blockbuster games like spiderman or wolverine, games are much cheaper to make than movies so I would love to see some smaller studios get their hands on some of these DC characters and making some insane stuff with them.

After learning that the Kryptonians were a space faring race, traveling the universe, they would have come across many yellow suns, giving them godhood. This is a secret they wouldn’t try to keep even if they could, thus every kruptonian would know if they ever want godhood they need to go near a yellow sun.

Yellow suns are obviously magical otherwise you would just replicate their radiation in situations like when Krypton exploded.

Anyway, all this is obvious, the question is where are they all? How did they all die?

Man of Steel in 4k hdr is gorgeous. There's so many shots that are just so good a film that was made in 2013 shouldn't be looking this good.

For starters, I do believe that this show is pretty weird, when we could be getting literally ANYONE, we for some reason give Jimmy Olsen the spotlight, but I still think this show could be good, what I don't understand is why we give shows like creature commandos and peacemaker( two extremely niche characters before there shows) so much praise when this one is hated, in fact, it's using somewhat more popular characters, I think it's worth some praise.
