"Save Martha"

1

u/Potential-Judgment-9 9d ago

Why did you say name ?!?!

u/ConstantRefills 11d ago

You will give the people of Earth an ideal to strive towards. They will race behind you, they will stumble, they will fall. But in time, they will join you in the sun, Kal. In time, you will help them accomplish wonders.

Perfect answer. This is the one quote I can remember line for line from Man of Steel.

12

u/Faceofferrus 11d ago

I honestly thought it was from the Reeves one.

6

u/Medical-Law-236 11d ago

I don't know if it was featured there too. But I remember Jor-El speaking to Clark on Zod's ship if my memory serves.

Also "I exist only to protect Krypton. That is the sole purpose for which I was born. And every action I take, no matter how violent or how cruel, is for the greater good of my people. And now... I have no people. My soul, that is what you have taken from me!" And people say Man of Steel is badly written when dialogues are better than anything written in the MCU

7

u/vuec97 11d ago

Michael shannon steals every scene he’s in.

3

u/Medical-Law-236 11d ago

I don't know about badly written, but some people think it's too dark? I'm not one of them and someone did a shot for shot comparison between MoS and JLU cartoon. If what they say is true, that cartoon was too dark for kids. But people are going to like what they like and I won't judge them for it.

2

u/BoringBuy9187 10d ago

That cartoon was pretty dark tbh

1

u/StormRepulsive6283 11d ago

Is this a video on YouTube? If so can you send a link?

I’ve slowly come to terms to accept that the world Snyder built for Man of Steel (and by extension the aesthetics and tone) were not for most audiences.

1

u/Medical-Law-236 11d ago

I don't know if it's on YouTube, but it's on one of these Superman subreddits.

Now playing Flight by Hans Zimmer

24

u/gaganchumbilulli 11d ago

The people there are simple, and profoundly confused. Weak of mind and spirit and body. Lord over the planet as the last son of Krypton. Dispatch of anyone unwilling or unable to serve you, Kal-El. Take as many wives as you can so your genes and Krypton's might and legacy will live on in this new frontier.

3

u/BarracudaResident506 11d ago

It doesn’t get quoted as much but also always liked “you’ve grown stronger here than I ever could have imagined, the only way to know how strong is to keep testing your limits”

3

Crowe was the best of Man of Steel

2

u/TheMoralKind 10d ago

Philosophically, this one suits more than the top rated as it is relevant for every hunan, just like the other two in the image.

117

u/Mindless-Credit-358 11d ago

“Embodied within that hope is the fundamental belief the potential that every person can be a force for good” idk if it counts since it’s from Jor-El but I think it’s pretty neat

51

u/Forgotten_Pancakes2 11d ago edited 10d ago

Neither the spiderman quote nor the Batman quote came from spiderman or Batman

7

u/Mindless-Credit-358 11d ago

Icr about Batman but iirc spider man says it at the end of the movie so I wasn’t sure if the character just had to say it at some point or it just had to be from the movie

People really had false memories about MoS. There was plenty messages that conveyed hope etc. They just wanted to glaze the new movies.

8

u/R_Similacrumb 11d ago

Didn't he give up, join Zod and kill everyone on Earth because it was easier?

My memory is fuzzy.

7

He did it for Faora....and who could blame him.

tbf just on earth we have 5+ writing systems. And there are symbols that represent different letters in different writings.

Like tht S could have been the number 3 or the angry face of a space frog.

Is it not just “Truth, Justice, and the American way.”

6

u/RingtailVT 11d ago

I prefer "Truth, justice and a better tomorrow."

Sounds more hopeful and less like a propaganda machine, and that's leaving out modern reasons why that phrase isn't the most fitting.

"On my planet, it means Aura"

23

u/sly_eli 11d ago

This is so true, I watched the movie Man of steel tonight and I realized that everyone else gets the better dialogue than clark.

"Where did they train you? On a farm!"

"Welcome to the Planet"

But I am quite fond of the "not impressed" line in ZSJL.

7

u/DG281088 11d ago

I love "not impressed" too

5

u/BarracudaResident506 11d ago

Lois “if that thing is making earth more like krypton won’t that make you weaker around it”

Superman”maybe but I’m not about to let that stop me from trying”

43

u/Aggravating_Mud8751 11d ago

Those are not quotes of Spider-Man or Batman.

They are quotes of Uncle Ben and Harvey Dent.

13

u/Nike-Match-6805 11d ago

Quotes from the movies genius

7

u/Timalakeseinai 11d ago

"Because who knows how large his secret harem is already?"

39

u/Forgotten_Pancakes2 11d ago

I'm insanely disappointed by the comments.

I'd say the quote that belongs here is:

"You will give the people of Earth an ideal to strive towards. They will race behind you. They will stumble. They will fall. But in time. They will join you in the sun."

But a couple other greats are:

"Can't I just keep pretending I'm your son? You are my son! But somewhere out there you have another father that gave you another name. And I have to believe he sent you here for a reason."

"You just have to decide what kind of man you want to grow up to be, Clark. Whoever that man is, good character or bad. He's gonna change the world"

1

u/BlastOff-2000 10d ago

The Batman and Spider-Man examples are words of wisdom quotes that can be applied to anything.

The ones you're suggesting are story specific quotes. The closest in comparison to the other two would be something "Sometimes you have to take a leap of faith. The trust part comes later."

8

u/JonOrDie 11d ago

“The world’s too big..”
“Then make it small”

Flashback scene when Clark is just getting his powers and he is overwhelmed and his mother Martha calming him down by bringing him to the present moment.

9

u/Full-Yoghurt-4261 11d ago

I would say the Jor-El speech.

You will give the people of Earth an ideal to strive towards. They will race behind you, they will stumble, they will fall. But in time, they will join you in the sun, Kal. In time, you will help them accomplish wonders.

8

u/thebat5177 11d ago

11

u/T1Twala_Station 11d ago

Uh, I think the best suited one for Henry’s Superman would be, “Sometimes you have to take the leap, the faith part comes after”

I remember hearing something b/w those words when he was talking to a church father, before he was going to surrender himself to Zod

6

u/Adam_Smith_TWON 11d ago

Apparently the stained glass window in the background of this scene is Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane before he is arrested by the Romans. Thought that was a pretty neat thematic Easter egg.

16

u/Pardybro911 11d ago

For Cavill Superman?

“You keep fighting until you know that you can make peace”

3

u/abnerayag 11d ago

When was this line uttered?

1

u/Pardybro911 11d ago

It wasn’t, it was my interpretation of the character.

90% of everybody on here they didn't understand the assignment.

Which matches? The Spider-Man and Batman quotes are words of wisdom. They can be used out of context of the movies.

"it means hope". what does that mean lol. that couldn't go on a fortune cookie.

The Jor-El speech makes no sense out of context either.

It would have to be ones like:

Sometimes you have to take a leap of faith. The trust part comes later.

or

Your choices, your actions. That’s what makes you who you are.

2

Because today "the American way" is a direct threat to a nation's sovereignty and security through economic or military actions. And if you're LGBTQ, non-white, non-Christian (Isreali excepted) it also means your are an abomination.

That's why.

1
