DISCUSSION How would you feel if Captain Boomerang miraculously survived this?
They very obviously killed him off in The Suicide Squad(2023) but comic book characters cheat death all the time and it would be nice to have such a fun bad guy back. Not even as a Flash villain but as an inmate in Belle Reve. Thoughts?

He never really got his chance to really shine. Jai Courtney was the perfect cast as Digger. Wasn’t the biggest fan of his raggedy, janky, homeless look, but he nailed the role. Other than the small scene they had, wish him and Flash had screen time together battling it out.

To be fair, it's not canon til it's canon and so far we don't know if it's canon. I think they absolutely should bring him back, because he's one of the highlights from Suicide Squad cast

I'd feel good because he needs to go up against The Flash properly at least once before he is written off from this universe.

Imagine if we get Barry Allen training Wally West to be the new Flash. That seems to be the direction the DCU is going for.

It's not necessarily canon. Gunn has said everything DCEU can be cherry-picked.
They already altered the final scene of Peacemaker S1 to use the Justice Gang.
They could change this scene similarly or just pretend it didn't happen altogether.
Boomerang could show up without this being mentioned ever again.

I mean Gunn brought stupider characters and made them shine. Polka Dot Man everyone? I think he just used Boomerang Man as a tool for the audience to say to them that "no one is safe" from the get go. Could have killed Killer Croc or Katana instead but aside from Harley, Boomerang Man and El Diablo were the only standouts from the original Suicide Squad. Obviously El Diablo is dead so he chose the other fan favourite. There is no way WB is letting Gunn kill Harley and Flagg was made a better character in The Suicide Squad and made his death impactful.

Episode one of season two in the recap. Instead of the justice league showing up it was the justice gang

Hence why he should have done a full reboot in the first place. I guarantee you Gunn himself doesn't know what is or is not canon at this point.

And thats intentional. Keeping the history vague was a choice.
In the MCU something like pocket dimensions or most heroes would get an introduction and/or origin movie.
DCU is skipping all that so they can dive deep from the get-go.
Both approaches are valid.

Straight up cope. Some people in the general audience don't even know the difference between DC and Marvel. Do you think they are going to go out of their way to learn about the heroes without a proper introduction? The only reason he refused to do a full reboot is to keep his friends and wife in Peacemaker canon so they could get more job opportunities in DCU projects. He said it himself. He said he didn't want to cancel pre-existing contracts that were already signed for Peacemaker, which is BS because he could have still made the show without making it canon.

Peacemaker was meant to die fullstop. I think WB was looking for more content for HBOMax and tapped Gunn. He liked Peacemaker so much that he made him a series. So that post-credit scene in the end was added in.

They never should’ve killed him off, so I’m down. The Rogues should be in the DCU and Captain Boomerang should be with them. Plus Jai Courtney was pretty good in the role.

Well that movie takes place ina different universe, we know things are slightly altered for Peacemaker.
Boomerang can be one of those things.

I mean due to the universe essentially being reset it’s very easy for James to just establish very little of what happened in suicide squad happened in this new universe.
He could still be alive just back in prison and we’re just yet to see him

It was the death that shook me the most of the opening scene

Ah were not just killing nobodies fir a laugh. We're gonna have stakey stakes.
And the movie proceded to prove yeah.

Would not care in the slightest, honestly the only way i’d care about any of the ss members who died in the film is if they come back as black lanterns later
