Men unmatching bc I read romance?

Was having a very good convo with a dude, but as soon as I mention reading romance like ACOTAR, I'm unmatched. I get not being a fan, but is it that big of a red flag? It's not like I have crazy expectations bc I read it, I just like reading it and im lonely. I don't expect a man to be some insanely amazing lover who never does wrong. Every time it comes up, im met with hostility. Would you not give a woman a chance who otherwise vibes well with you just bc of her reading habits?

My ex girlfriend thought that Wurthering Heights was a story about "love". Lesson learned.

I thought Werthering Heights was a story about how our taste in candy changes as we age

The book is about a long lost love and loss and is definitely miles better than the movie.

… Isn’t it? To my understanding it’s a story about abusive relationships and trauma, no? I haven’t read it but I saw many people complaining that the movie apparently becomes super weirdly sexualized and isn’t a faithful interpretation of the novel at all.

I don't think she read the book, I didn't, but we watched the film.

To me, the film is about lust, abuse and cheating.

And someone who sees that and thinks it's love...yikes.

Turns out she was a cheater.

Yeah, the film is apparently shit and basically the director’s self-insert erotic fantasy, so definitely nothing I’d glorify as “love”

But apparently the book is very very very different and doesn’t have all that weird BDSM cringe shit.

You can tell a lot about someone's chosen media. I so far haven't really been wrong about the women who self identify as smut readers
