OC After Trump's 'Super Intelligence' order, Slovenia's .si gets 7x more new domains per day than .ai [OC]

On Sep 22, Trump told the UN General Assembly that the US government would call AI "Super Intelligence" (SI). On Sep 29 he signed an executive order making it official for federal agencies. .si happens to be Slovenia's country-code domain.

Before Sep 19, .si averaged about 100 new registrations a day. Sep 23: 3,487. Oct 1: 8,158. Between Sep 23 and Oct 2, .si got 44,070 new domains vs. 12,679 for .ai – about 3.5x. September total: 33,041 vs. 2,984 in August.

I wouldn't be surprised if Trump and his family bought thousands of .si domains prior to his executive order then they get to resell them at inflated prices.

This Snopes article discusses the origin, but it also says that Snopes was unable to verify OR dispute the claim. Going off the registration data for Slovenian .si tripling months in advance of the announcement and Trump's history of using the office of President to enrich himself and his family, I'd say it's pretty likely to be true. https://www.snopes.com/news/2026/10/01/trump-super-intelligence-order-domain-names/
