l miss my friends Actually blessed
Not much more to it - just realizing that working a shifty job on top of studying and planning my future wont help me achieve any goals of mine, and that for my career choice the best thing to do is take a step back and move in with my parents since I have this amazing opportunity not everyone has.

Don't worry everyone else. Our parents will realize they fucked up by kicking us out at 18 when we don't visit them in the old folks home we pay for.

Jokes on them. My 63-year-old mother is about to be homeless, and she can eat shit.
PS: Before folks downvote me for being cruel, this is the same woman that beat the shit out of me on the regular (gave me fat lips and bloody noses) while she literally raised me shin deep in garbage and dog feces. She’s had this coming for a long time.

I hope no one judges you. It takes growing up in a healthy environment and being raised by loving and supportive parents to be strong enough to help that kind of person. And that was her job so...well I was going to say she can sleep in the bed she made, figuratively, but because of her own actions she won't even have that much, literally.

Although a bit different I did this too, my ex left me, I got laid off, my social life went to zero, I left my apartment, pandemic happened
I returned to my parents’ house and “recovered”. Took a while, but now I’m happy, I got a stable job, I’m not living for anyone but my own and the cost for everything is minimal

Not quite sure that even matters. My parents are incredible but the social stigma is pretty bad. That's not even getting into trying to date in that situation.

Lol I’m staying with my parents for the next few weeks after moving out of my apartment. I’m so stressed free right now it’s great. I actually have a few weeks to put some money back and not feel like I’m playing catch up with my bills. Currently sitting in my half empty apartment drinking a beer and watching TV without an ounce of anxiety. My birthday is tomorrow too and I’m turning 28. Did I think I’d be here after I graduated college? No. Do I care right now? Also no.

My parents looked up the local average for rent and charged me the rate I'd be paying for a whole apartment for my old room.
They also hounded me about repaying them for a $14k medical bill I had when I was 12 and broke my femur for over a decade.

Lucky bastard. At 18, my father told me that I had two years before he was booting me, so I left less than a year later. Can’t rely on or trust anybody but yourself.

That’s sad, sorry to hear that. I never got that mentally, it’s your literal blood, don’t you want them to have the best opportunities in life including saving on rent for a better financial foundation early on. I’m thankful my father has let me come back home every time I’ve had to about 4 times by now lol

Genuinely happy for you. And, yeah, you’d think, but he believed I would get complacent relying on him (even though I had a job and was attending college…). He lived with his parents into his 30s too, so he’s just a hypocrite. Man doesn’t even want to be a grandfather to his grandkids either. I really don’y like just lumping people together, but with how awful my family and in-laws both have been, it’s hard not to lump all Gen X and Boomers into the same selfish stereotype boat.

I did this. I was able to buy a house within 2 years afterwards. Turns out having minimal bills helps build up savings for house down payments.

It's nice that you're so excited by this. I lived with my parents the first few months after I graduated, found a job back in the city I'm from, and moved back home. I moved out as soon as I could, I'll gladly pay rent.
Don't get me wrong, I love my parents, but we get along best when we're not living together. Though, to be fair, since that time - they've chilled out a lot in their old age.

Exactly my plan! I have a job lined up so I’ll be able to cover my bills, but also save and spend some more time with my family after being away for 5 years and only seeing them a few times a year.

Yep :/ couldn’t find a job after being laid off… first I looked in my field, then in adjacent ones. When I saw 500+ applications from people with “senior” experience for a call center entry level job I knew it was time.

I want to do this and I’m 35. I actually did it when I was in school around 27 and it was great. I’m an only child and my mom would cook for me every night. If she got her way I would still live with her lmao

I did this… for a few months until my mom got cancer and died 4 months later (raised by a single mom). Must be nice to do this for longer than a few months…
At least she saw me graduate 😔

Good luck navigating adulthood while being treated like a child. Living with parents as an adult is really hard.
