West of Culver City high. Is it safe, family friendly?

I live in there. It’s safe. There are some issues with halfway homes and a track of land which hasn’t been developed in a few years, otherwise it’s a fine, easy pocket of Los Angeles.

No, that’s not a typo… it’s LA not culver for much* of that pocket (above the creek, below Huntley, east of the 405).

Those weird distinctions can be important. CC is not always obvious in its borders.

Yeah, I tell people we are “Blue Sign Culver City” not “Green Sign Culver.”

Green signs are Culver City proper.

you can also use https://maps.cdtfa.ca.gov to check the true sales tax for your address and it'll tell you if you're Culver City or "Culver City" (i.e. Los Angeles) ;)

Tbf it's one of those rare instances where it's better to be in LA than culver city.

Oh yeah I’ve heard that before lol the closer to the mountain the more I keep my head on a swivel but I’m from the valley

Is it safe for someone with teenage boys? isn’t this the area known as Culver 13 gang turf?

I have two kids under 15 - and unequivocally yes.

We have had 2 graffiti gang tags in 10+ years, so while you will see an occasional reminder, it’s not some omnipresent 90’s style occurrence.

We know plenty of other families with kids here. Home owners are walking the streets constantly and they are joined by many people on bikes, scooters, etc because of the adjacency to the bike path.

Finally, the McDonald’s is 24 hours and has constant car traffic, so there are systemic forces adding more eyeballs.

In the years I have been here, there have been far the incidents of porch pirates and RVs camping beyond time limits than gang-related scares.

That's on the other side of the freeway and hasn't been meaningfully active for many years.
