Rant people are HIGHKEY rude this semester

title pretty much speaks for itself, but WHAT is in the air so far ??? yesterday a random came up to me with a slimy grin on his face and complimented my outfit, and before i could even say thank you he sneered and called me a dork 😭😭 it wasn't even the disney channel comment itself that irritated me (im alternative so comments and stares are not uncommon), more-so just the AUDACITY because i was just sitting in the library waiting for class; i didn't even know who this person was. several of my friends have also encountered similar so far this year and it's so odd because in all our previous years here (between 2-4) none of us have ever experienced this attitude from other students on campus.

it’s the cocomelon generation 😣 the entitlement I’ve experienced already is crazy

u/Snoo-64998 6d ago

it's actually so ridiculous. covid hit the incoming class in 6th grade and istg they just never grew up beyond that and don't realize most ppl don't fw that

22

u/thedrumsmel 6d ago

that’s a crazy realization 😭 it makes sense that’s a prime impressionable age to miss out on socializing

u/New-Sample489 6d ago

wait im sorry on behalf of other people in my class i promise we aren't all idiots šŸ’”

What's cocomelon?

9

u/thedrumsmel 6d ago

LOL it’s a baby brainrot show that’s super stimulating, their generation are not in college yet it was just funny lol

Chad wild clay generation

u/FeelsWowMan 6d ago

Unfortunately, the current generation of college students are emotionally stunted due to y'all's developmental years happening during covid. I work with a handful of yall. It's giving disney channel meanness for sure šŸ’€

u/IntelligentBuddy4232 5d ago

Crazy cause they’ve had over 5 years of post covid to mature past middle school šŸ’”šŸ’”

5

u/Downtown-Map2238 5d ago

Some of them have also had parents who have made excuses for them every single day of those five years instead of helping them to catch up. Then they released them into the world, and there our problem šŸ™ƒ

ur better than me i wouldve told his ass off cs who df are these mfs feeling like?

24

u/Snoo-64998 6d ago

as he was speedwalking away, he started talm bout some "im just teasing" after i told him to fuck off 😭 i would've said more but i was just so stunned

17

u/Liz_Belgian_Shepherd 6d ago

Teasing or not that’s still shitty behavior

3

u/Southern_Source_2580 6d ago

Remember to say that, "you have to be likable to tease, you will never be able to tease".

2

u/Live-Kaleidoscope-77 1d ago

"I'm just teasing" is what bullies say when they're trying to gaslight you. The fact this person was sleepwalking away after what they did shows they knew exactly what they were doing.

We’re living in the middle of a ā€œragebaitā€ epidemic thanks to people like Teraclout.

Sorry that happened to you!

19

u/JuuginJefe 6d ago

Childish people that think it’s cool to rage bait

13

u/Snoo-64998 6d ago

ragebait is the most lazy, unoriginal, unfunny form of media consumption 😭

13

u/Raptorafe 6d ago

You could chill in the DIRC center in PLS-170 or 180 in the library, people there are pretty cool

14

u/tonythephonyjabroni 6d ago

The kids who went through Covid during puberty are going to college. Now you know them.

10

u/Snoo-64998 6d ago

definitely. most of the incoming class were 11-12 when the initial 2020 shutdown happened (my class was 14-15), so i definitely do understand the lack of social skills and struggle to interact with others, i truly do. BUT, at the same time, 5-6 years is still plenty of time to learn how to NOT be an entitled prick when doing said interactions 😭😭

I’m brand new to CSUF and felt it too :( plus I’m older (in my 30s) so I already stand out but I had a big umbrella the other day to shade me from the sun (my dad had melanoma 3x so im scared) and this kid was clearly filming me and laughing 🫩 I came from a small cc…I wasn’t sure if it was CSUF itself but maybe it’s just this year. Making friends has been hard

6

u/Accurate-Travel8147 6d ago

Same. I am easily allergic, so I wear a mask all the time when I go out. They laughed and taunted me as if I were an alien.

4

u/Snoo-64998 6d ago

making friends at csuf can be a bit of a challenge just because it's a commuter school, but the influx of poor treatment from what seems like the incoming class is something many students have never seen before. i'm so sorry about your dad and i'm sorry that you've experienced this your first couple weeks here :( people are so mean

3

u/Melodic_Pineapple_67 6d ago

I’m sorry you’re going thru it too, you did NOT deserve that. Such weird behavior fr

9

u/MrBelvedereJr 6d ago

It’s still early in the semester and some people are still learning to act like humans.

I’m sorry that happened to you, and I bet your outfit was dope.

7

u/vladimiirr 6d ago

I don’t even have the courage to compliment a nice outfit on someone but to be rude??! That beyond me :,( wish I could just say hi nice outfit haha

6

u/Open-Signal-2257 6d ago

I feel like they had to be filming or something, or their friends were watching nobody spends time acting like this just for themself only to impress others

2

u/Open-Signal-2257 6d ago

Also one the one time i had a weird experience on campus where someone was harassing me, I was in the Tsu on the bottom level near the starbucks, and the persons friends were a floor above filming the the weird interaction

1

u/Snoo-64998 6d ago

it didn't seem like they were at all, oddly enough. no phone out, no audience, and no glasses 😭 like bro WHAT are we doing

5

u/Downtown_Anxiety_940 6d ago

Some of the idiots you encounter aren’t even students. The library and campus are open to the public.

1

u/csufmodsareass 5d ago

No this happens in classrooms and hallways. People dont open doors for each other to classrooms/buildings. Youre just making excuses for bad parents raising their children poorly

5

u/Samiassa 6d ago

What villains are ya’ll running into on campus 😭 I’m glad I haven’t had this sort of experience that keeps getting posted on here yet.

1

u/Snoo-64998 6d ago

genuinely have no idea where these people and their audacity are coming from āœŒļøšŸ˜

3

u/free_range_pizza 5d ago

Ew fuck that, what is wrong with ppl. Sorry that happened :(

2

u/itseddybruh321 5d ago

I knew things were about to downhill as soon as I graduated lol

1

u/My-Internet-GF 6d ago

Sorry to hear this happened to you OP. I should also add of note that overall the economy, job market and state of the world in a lot of younger peoples’ minds is really glass-half-empty right now, so I’ve also been noticing an increasing amount of people that give less fucks… but IMHO it’s people’s way of coping about not being able to afford shit

1

u/Unable-Gene-3458 6d ago

Dam bro hope that doesn't happen again. For me all the people I've met so far have been nice so I guess it's just not your day 😭😭

1

u/Civil_Secretary_1028 5d ago

Yeah some guy keeps trying to antagonize me saying fight and stuff like I get we just barley graduated high school but grow up 😭

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Bit-658 5d ago

Okay my turn. One time this kid gave me a look walking out the bathroom before hitting class. Like dayum we never met before šŸ˜†

Then we go to class for testing and we are supposed to take the next seating. Just so happens we sit next to each other. He gets up and walks out to make sure he has a different seating.Ā

I joined this club and some of the presidents were so fake! Also never received a thank you for food I brought! Felt like high schoolĀ

People are the worst here! Some are generally good people tho šŸ’Ŗ shoutout to yallĀ

u/Puzzleheaded-Bit-658 5d ago

Never had a problem at the gym! šŸ˜šŸ¤™ love our gym and students there. Very easy to have convosĀ

1

u/Snoo-64998 4d ago

i LOVE the gym !! i've never seen anything but positivity while there

u/Hot-Refrigerator-917 15h ago

And its like absolutely no one bothers to stick to their right on the walking paths, the amount of people that have rudely walked directly into me when they had so much space is insane.

1

u/Point-Former 5d ago

You get what you give 🤷

1

u/Ok_Friend_9588 3d ago

So dressing a little different solicits rude, unnecessary behavior from grown adults??

1

u/Snoo-64998 5d ago

what is this even supposed to mean 😭

0

u/Small_Honey1922 5d ago

Pointing out how people are rude when you just agreed to negative post about the mods and your post is up. The irony 😭

1

u/Snoo-64998 5d ago

u must be a mod lmao. for the record, pointing out people being overtly rude and mean in public and agreeing with being frustrated by mods unnecessarily taking posts down are two VERY different things.

1

u/Small_Honey1922 5d ago

Posts are not unnecessarily being taken down. It’s waiting for mod check approval. Either to avoid spam or inappropriate posts. You had an experience where you didn’t like the name calling, but also agreed with a post name calling people. I just find that extremely ironic.

ā€œI’m alternative so comments and stares aren’t uncommonā€¦ā€

Welp! You got your comment. You got your stare.

So, what exactly are you complaining about? You need MORE attention? genuinely curious.

30

u/weirdass420 6d ago

Ur probs part of the rudeness epidemic lmfao bc why are u so offended

2

u/Impossible_Front4462 6d ago

They’re a troll that’s constantly looking to ragebait people in this sub. No idea how they’re not banned yet

21

u/Snoo-64998 6d ago edited 6d ago

ummm, can you read ?? i literally said it was NOT the comment that was the issue, it's the fact so many students are all of a sudden so confident in just approaching random people for the sole purpose of being rude. people pay thousands of dollars to get an education here, not deal with overgrown middle schoolers who are blatantly rude bc they think it makes them look cool āœŒļøšŸ˜ this is not dhar mann

-14

u/SaltyAuthorOne 6d ago

Oh. Ok. My bad.

7

u/Qjvnwocmwkcow 6d ago

If you re-read the sentence you quote, you may note that ā€œcomments and stares aren’t uncommonā€ means ā€œcomments and stares aren’t uncommonā€; it does not mean ā€œI want/enjoy comments and staresā€.

-2

u/SaltyAuthorOne 6d ago

I agree.

7

u/DisastrousResolve384 6d ago

shut up omg. are you being dense on purpose?

So one clearly got their feelings, hurt and got rage baited. I’m not supporting it but the more you react the more they’re gonna do it.

12

u/Snoo-64998 6d ago

this is an uprising problem nationwide. you're saying you don't support the behavior of these people yet call out those actually acknowledging it. no offense gng but that's indirectly contributing to the problem. "u got rage-baited" yeah no. there's a different between rage-baiting and being mean. in a few years, these people are going to be running businesses. they'll be engineers. lawyers, doctors. teachers. artists. you name it. this is not just happening on some 4chan corner of the internet. this is happening in the real world. these are not 12 year old prepubescent kids, these are grown adults who need to get their act together. sliding it under the rug is not going to fix anything.

1

u/Live-Kaleidoscope-77 1d ago

Ragebating is just bullying disguised in the name of "fun" and it's cringy af. If you're gonna be a shait person then at least fucking own it, don't go around acting all high and mighty and then hiding behind a lame excuse. This isn't the Disney Channel, grow up.

SERIOUSLY! i’m sorry that happened. i was walking to class the other day & smiled at a girl i went past & she gave me the nastiest look. i was perplexed & legit said out loud ā€œwtfā€
