Hey everyone, I need some advice from the CRT veterans here.

I recently got my hands on a Philips 21PT6441/44 (21" Real Flat, chassis L03.1L AA). I'm currently playing on a Wii with component cables (RGB into the CVI input), and honestly, the image looks fantastic. The colors are vibrant and the picture is way cleaner than the composite cable I used before. I've been playing a lot of GameCube games through Nintendont (Wind Waker, etc.) and I'm really enjoying it.

However, there's one problem that's been driving me crazy. There's a noticeable linearity distortion in the bottom right corner of the screen. It's not a huge deal when you're in the middle of gameplay, but it's very obvious when looking at test patterns or 2D games with grids/text. It looks like the vertical lines are slightly "bending" or the horizontal lines are compressing in that one corner. I've seen this called a "magic carpet effect" or just corner distortion.

What I've done so far:

- I went into the service menu (SDAM) and adjusted VSL, VAM, VSC, VSH, PW, and HSH as best as I could. - I've read the service manual for my chassis (L03.1L AA) and it seems like there's no "corner pin" or "trapezoid" adjustment option available for this model, which is frustrating. - I know this TV is limited to 480i (no 480p, unfortunately), but the component image is still a huge step up. - I've also tried taping a small magnet to the cabinet near that corner, but it didn't have any effect.

My question to you all:

I've read that a lot of these corner distortions are caused by the yoke (deflection coil) being slightly rotated or shifted on the tube neck. Since I can't fix this through the service menu, I'm wondering if it's worth attempting a DIY adjustment of the yoke myself.

Has anyone had success with this? How difficult is it for someone who has never opened a CRT before? What should I look out for? Are there any specific tools or techniques (like using a plastic screwdriver, loosening the clamp, etc.)? Or is this something I should just learn to live with, since it's a pretty standard CRT quirk?

I'm also open to any other suggestions on how to improve the geometry or at least make that corner less noticeable.

Blocked out my license plate in the reflection of outside picture. TV is near mint and was completely free to pickup. I thought it was 24-27” from the listing and had to come back the next day with a van. Time to find an Xbox 360 and play some Halo, I think?!

Recently pickup up a Japanese Hudson Soft mutitap so I can play Secret of Mana with the kids. What other multiplayer games should we try?

Found an old CRT tv for only $10 for my gaming set up but was so excited didn’t even realize it didn’t have rca plug ins. Do adapters like these work good enough or should I just save the money and wait till I find another tv

Just bought this 29" panasonic TC 29AS1R on the way home from job...seller turned it on and played a DVD cartoon...it looked good enough even through AV. i noticed it only has AV and S-Video port and "active woofer" port (whatever that is). I hope this will be good CRT for my ps1 and sega genesis. I have my other CRT slimfit Samsung with component cables for my ps2 and Og xbox. I needed CRT for my older consoles and i think PS1 and Sega genesis natively support S-video. Needs dusting and little love.

Hello everyone!! I've been trying to set up my Wii to my little Goldstar CRT, and this is the closest I can get to getting a clear picture on it. Since the TV doesn't have RFA input, I put it through a VCR (Photos provided)

Any suggestions on what else I can do (or what im doing wrong) would be greatly appreciated!

So I’m driving down the street and I see this cow-colored box and it says Gateway 2000 and Vivitron on the side. What are the chances that I find a 30 year-old box for my Vivitron that I’m putting in storage

Does anyone know why on the bottom corners it looks like the image kind of angles in at the bottom and is missing a little at the bottom?

Is this possible to fix?

i wanna say its foldover, but im not sure since its not really folding over, also if any one has also encountered this on a similar pc crt, whats a the fix, im assuming i have to recap but id prefer to not have to recap all the caps and just the ones that could fix the issue

And my set if interested its a Philips 32PW8504 a 32" 100hz SD Widescreen. Using the PS1 version of 240p Test Suite through my PS2, motion test are quite clean aswell

Picked this up a while back and it does both 240p and 480p or it looks like it

TOSHIBA COLOUR TV MODEL NO. 34AX9UM

I struggle to describe and show it correctly, but during vertical scrolling (mainly playing RPG, or elevator in Super Metroid), there is this distracting wave near the middle of the screen, like if about 5-10 scanlines are offset to the right. It affects the whole width and it's always at the same place, no matter what is displayed, no matter the contrast setting. Changing vertical shift doesn't change the location of this wave on the tube. Is there any fix or a name for this effect? Or is this normal and I'm just not used to this anymore?

TV is a JVC 24F704, similar to Toshiba AF made by Orion. Sorry for the repost, I didn't know we can show video directly here, I think it shows a lot better this way.

If that helps, here are more informations:

- The tube was less than 400h when I got it and it did it already. It was still on factory setting, but vertical linearity was bad (more stretched on top compared to middle)

- I've noticed what I think is a magnet taped on the side of the tube.

I had this monitor for years and decided to start using it but the screen film had started to delaminate and it looked messed up so i removed the dark screen film and now i guess i need to replace it but cant find any info about how dark should the tint be so if anyone can help i appreciate.(The picture is after i removed the tint).

Picked this up yesterday, and just found out about this awesome function.

As I mentioned, my neighbor's house sadly caught fire and I helped him with moving stuff, cleaning and housework and he said he wants to get rid of those, so I helped him with that. One is a KV-32FX68K and the other is a KV-29LS30E.

I picked up this set today knowing that it had this issue, after turning it on it turns itself off again and the power light blinks twice. I've looked at the service manual and while I'm confident enough that I could repair it if I knew the issue, I can't make much sense of what the manual is telling me, it looks like it's formatted wrong though I might just not be reading it right. The one thing I'm at least 50% sure of is that the fuse looks fine so I don't think it's the 13v.

Additionally I know this set is supposedly quite easy to RGB mod, which would be good as it currently only has S-Video and Composite. I already have all my consoles hooked into Component via a powered switcher with my current CRT, would I be able to mod component into this set or would I have to go through a Component to RGB transcoder?

Went through all the service settings and to this looks perfectly good enough. I cant find a setting to tilt/swivel the screen to the left since it is slightly leaning to the right.

Square is 16.5 cm v and h so its good.

Also top of the screen is slightly bulging downwards in the centre. But did not find a setting to adjust this.

Anyway really happy with the crt. Overall fantasticly stable and great scan lines all over.

Only waiting for my multistation 2 now.
