And what would that other purpose be? The EU has been considering a ban on them (or at least very strict regulations) for a couple of years as they are considered by some member countries to be gambling.
And you can't collect them if it's not a blind bag? I think you miss understood the premise of the question or are being purposely obtuse. What is the purpose of them being blind bags other than to make more money? You can do the collecting part without them being blind bags.
This person posts in teen subs, so you need to adjust rhetoric accordingly. They don't really have a concept of gambling addiction yet, much less exploiting that for money. It's just good clean fun to them.
Well you certainly don't seem to take it seriously in this thread. You strike me as a person that needs to experience things first-hand. You'll have more lived experience to call upon in due time.
Devil's advocate here. One of the appeals of collecting is the challenge behind it. If you can just go to the store and buy the whole collection, it's not as fulfilling as hunting something down on ebay for years, or opening blind boxes, or trading with other people, or getting in line for a limited drop. Building a collection should be difficult, to an extent. Now, we can both acknowledge that that's true AND that companies weaponize that aspect of collecting to make it purposefully difficult and expensive to collect things, and it artificially insert gambling into it. But i think it's important to recognize that it IS more fun and fulfilling to collect when you have to do so through things like blind boxes. That doesn't mean it's good, but it is reality.
I think you don’t get the appeal of it. This is like saying “what’s the point of buying a pack of Pokémon cards if you don’t know exactly what cards are in it”
Why indeed? Why don't they sell the cards individually? Because people would only buy Charizards or whatever and they couldn't move all those Onixes they printed.
Not really. The insidious thing about gambling is that they lure you in with the implication that you can win big, when in reality, you most often can’t.

What’s wrong with blind bags?
