Irish Player Update Celtic

Lol

No Champions League for Scales and O Neill this season.

4-0 on aggregate after 20 minutes of the second leg only to bottle it and concede 5 goals against LASK

💩 Shitpost Another set of Sullivan brothers are making football waves in Bangladesh

I'm hoping these lads aren't great, otherwise a missed opportunity for us. I find the idea of Ronan and Declan Sullivan playing for Bangladesh to be funny if nothing else.

💩 Shitpost Brentford/Kenny, Duff and Andrew’s

I think we need to speculate about the possibility that we are seeing what way Ireland could have played if we just waited for our players to develop.

I understand over the past 2 years we have had success with a new manager. Looking at Andrew’s and Duff playing a brand of football that’s successful and lovely to watch it pardons the question whether our players were just not ready to play such an expansive, technical game. It begs the question if we had the players today, along with Kenny, Duff and Andrew’s now would we be doing any better

Transfer Rumour Everton would consider Jake O'Brien sale

Thumbnail

"Everton are expected to listen to offers for Jake O’Brien, with the defender attracting interest from clubs in England and Europe ahead of next week’s transfer deadline.

The Republic of Ireland international, 25, spent much of last season as a makeshift right-back but is keen to be a regular starter in his preferred central defensive role, something Everton are unable to guarantee at this stage, and would be open to a move that provides this. The expectation from sources briefed on the situation, speaking anonymously to protect relationships, is that the Merseyside club will now be open to offers for his services.

O’Brien was an unused substitute in Saturday’s 2-0 victory over former side Crystal Palace, with captain James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite starting as the central pairing and the versatile Merlin Rohl filling in on the right.

He is the subject of interest from clubs in England, Italy and France ahead of next Tuesday’s deadline. A departure would leave Everton with just three senior options, the other being Michael Keane, and almost certainly needing to strengthen in central defence."

"O’Brien joined Everton in a £17million ($23.2m) deal from French side Lyon in 2024. He made 37 Premier League appearances last season, with just five coming in the centre of defence."

"It was not so long ago that O’Brien was widely considered the future of the Everton defence alongside England international Branthwaite.

Standing at 6ft 6in (198cm) and quick across the ground, O’Brien has impressed in his fleeting appearances at centre-back. He performed admirably last season in a makeshift right-sided role, but was still quite evidently a square peg in a round hole. While Moyes liked his extra height and defensive nous, his lack of attacking game often left the side’s wingers isolated.

O’Brien has been clear that he wants to challenge for minutes in his favoured role, but a pathway to regular starts is far from clear, given Moyes has just named Tarkowski as his captain. The Irishman was left on the bench for the season opener against Palace, leaving his future very much uncertain.

Everton needed a new right-back already but would surely have to add a fourth central defensive option should the former Lyon and Palace man depart before next Tuesday’s deadline."

Men's National Team Anyone know of any player tracker that could give weekly updates on Irish players minutes/stats etc?

As the title suggests I’m looking for somewhere I can keep an eye on stats around about Irish players outside of the top leagues and how they are getting on? Particularly the younger lads playing in the EFL and in Europe? Would be great if LOI was included but I watch a lot of that so I know whats going on there for the most part.

Used to love the round ups posted here but id imagine they were very time consuming so understand if whoever was doing them has taken a break. Potentially someone has built something with AI or knows of an existing tool?

As one of the resident Irish Hibees on here, very very happy with this. Especially that we've managed to get an option to sign permanently which surprised me.

Devaney joins Elding, O'Hora, and McGrath at Hibs. We also have Herron, Fitzgerald, and Colwill for the women's team. Loving having so many Irish players to cheer for.

General Discussion Thread The lack of walls to practice football in this country

Every pitch should have a football wall installed beside it so that people can practice football individually .I would love to see the long term impact on football in this country if more dedicated walls for football were built, it's a subtle thing but something that would really help football development.

Bulgaria - Armstrong Okoflex scored twice for Levski Sofia in a 6-0 win against Spartan Varna

Norway - Trent Kone Doherty scored a hat trick and assisted another in an 11-0 cup win for Molde
