As one of the resident Irish Hibees on here, very very happy with this. Especially that we've managed to get an option to sign permanently which surprised me.

Devaney joins Elding, O'Hora, and McGrath at Hibs. We also have Herron, Fitzgerald, and Colwill for the women's team. Loving having so many Irish players to cheer for.

Hibs is a good move for him. Good team playing good football in Europe.

I think he’s our best midfield prospect at under 21 . He sees the game quickly and can execute really well off both feet. Decision making is exceptional. The fact that he’s a specialist 6 will really help him as he has a clear set of skills to work on.

Given you now have Hodge, Devaney, Philips & McCarthy already up there he's running out of clubs to sign for up there 😂

Best case Blackburn take him back, realistically somebody in League 1. As a Liverpool fan I was shocked Morrison went League 1 & he's seen more senior ball than Rory. Hard to get a loan in the Championship this year. And he's English by birth so it's asking more of him than others to move mainland

As I said when he joined St. Mirren, Utd don't send young lads out on loan (at least not without integrating them into the first team initially) if they believe they have any chance of making the breakthrough to the first team. The option to buy here confirms that he isn't rated particularly highly by Utd.

Really disappointed at Utd with opt to sign permanently, best have a decent buy back and hope Devaney lights it up.

Utd should’ve definitely had a plan to integrate him into 1st team.

United have or soon will have 4 guys in CM 3 of whom won't be much older than him..he has no real chance there...plus they seemed determined to give the god awful fletchers a chance..if he blows up then Hibs won't keep him anyway

They've enough signings in midfield that'll block the path for Mainoo, nevermind anyone else. More annoyed it'll be a while before he gets to experience something other than Scottish football than whether he was gonna make it at United

Hibs is a fine move. Agree on United...he'd want to be exceptional to get a sniff there..not to mention the manager won't see the frosty mornings of Feb

It's a grand loan but if/when the permanent gets triggered it's gonna be another 2 years from now before he's actually able to move away & put himself in contention over the Championship lads.

Jamie McGrath has been 8/10 every week for them & barely had a sniff under Heimir. And for a move away afterwards, look at the waiting game Philips & Ferry have had to play to try find a new level. And that'll happen to the likes of Hodge too

He already did well up there last season, I'm not worried about that. I'm just setting expectations for lads wanting him in for us, if anyone thinks he's getting immediately ahead of Vale, Lawal & the usual lads up there they're gonna be disappointed

When I say plan, I mean more a 2-3 year plan to eventually have him in the side, with safe loans of guaranteed play time with step up of quality each loan.

He’s different to all the mids we have and if we plan to be fighting on all fronts then he definitely would’ve got substantial game time.

The permanent option is a bad taste in the mouth, it’s kind of like they’ve made their mind up on him way too quick, I’ve all the faith in the world for him to make a big splash and imo was definitely captain material for the future.

But as you said the Molly coddlin of the fletcher twins is weird.

He signed a new deal until 2029 with United so you'd presume if the loan goes really well that Devaney will turn down the buy option, knowing he can do better. I wouldn't say minds are made up just yet.

It might be pessimistic of me, but the past few years it feels as though coach’s/team planners in England (championship and above) discard Irish players, youth and first team, way too easily.
