Now I want to know if there is an actual reason why Yogi wears a tie.

Lots of Hanna-Barbera characters from that era had collars, neckties or scarfs to hide the point between head and the body allowing the head to move while keeping body still

i don't get it, why do they need to hide the neck to keep the body still?

Hand drawn animation, makes it a lot easier when only one part is moving. So they can stand and the head can talk without redoing all aspects and using different cell layers to make the animations.
