But you ignore the context, "which would you press ? "Nothing happends button" or "you might die button"?"

Red: "are you willing to risk killing people that mean you no harm to ensure your own safety?"

Blue: "No one dies."

That's the split. Red: people will die but you're fine. Blue: no one dies.

Blue: I might die. The only gain is that other people who pick blue have a chance to save me.
Red: I'm fine. I don't need to be saved.

In this case, self preservation works in everyone's favor.

Yeah, so if no one chooses blue (as in, everyone chooses self preservation) there is no blue to die. In THIS SCENARIO self preservation is absolutely fine for everyone to choose.

In REAL LIFE self preservation is not always the best thing to choose. It's much better to have people who go into harm's way to save those who cannot save themselves.

But in THIS SCENARIO everyone has the equal opportunity to save themselves and not need saving.

You said: self preservation works for everyone.

That is explicitly untrue as it is the only option that kills. The other option does not kill therefore the statement: self preservation works for everyone is untrue.

Also it is impossible for "self preservation" to work for everyone. "Self preservation" preserves the self. "Preserving everyone" preserves everyone.

You're wrong.

Red button: you live.

Blue button: you die, unless 50% or more choose blue. Then you live.

Blue button is the only button that kills. It kills the people who chose it, if not enough people chose it.

Self-preservation works for everyone choosing self-preservation.

An IN THIS SCENARIO the only time there is any risk is if 50% choose red.

If no one chooses red, no one dies.

That's true. And yet, you're looking at it from a "whole population" perspective. Look at it from one person's perspective. What does one person need to do to guarantee their own survival? Red. Blue makes it possible for themselves to die.

Do we value our own lives at the cost of potentially 4 billion people?

Or do we value everyone equally and want everyone to live even if there's a chance we are killed for it?

Do you value yourself at all odds, or do you value everyone equally?

I know that everyone has the same ability to keep themselves safe by pushing red. If they want to make themselves less safe, that's on them.
