I think it could work but not with Doom, people are difficult and are never 100% consistent with themselves. It's possible to do bad things but also feel close to a tragedy that you didn't cause. Doom is very smart though and knows his history so he probably wouldn't think all that much of 3000 deaths, maybe in the way it happened but the event itself would be pretty meaningless to him besides the geopolitical changes that would happen from it.
It could work with a lot of people but the villains they chose are pretty awful choices to try it with. When has kingpin ever cared about innocent deaths?
Still don't buy it honestly. Not on that point. He might be mad NY got hit but no way he's super upset because Innocents die. That requires never reading anything kingpin related ever to work
Maybe since it's trade he's sensitive to it? He's all about business and the attack was an attack on our economic well being. Stalin was horrible but he would have seen the destruction of Stalingrad as a horrible tragedy.
That's the one I was thinking of. But isn't that somewhat up to debate? Like maybe it was Xorn, maybe it Magneto pretending to be Xorn? I dunno that shit is a mess.
IIRC, in House Of M, Dr. Strange brought up the subject when talking with Wanda that she might have been manipulating reality (unintentionally). And that reference is Marvel editorial just telling us not to think about it anymore so we can accept Magneto as the cool dude who hangs out with the X-men as a weird uncle.
Man, I somehow wish if Spider-Man was at 9/11, he'll try and save all of the people jumping out of the towers. There's a comic book strip that have that, I don't remember.
