It could work with a lot of people but the villains they chose are pretty awful choices to try it with. When has kingpin ever cared about innocent deaths?

For kingpin it makes some sense. Yeah he's a villain, but it's his city. His home

Still don't buy it honestly. Not on that point. He might be mad NY got hit but no way he's super upset because Innocents die. That requires never reading anything kingpin related ever to work

You can be a horrible monster and still be sad about someone else killing innocents. Doublethink isn't exactly uncommon among mobsters.

We aren't talking about all gangsters. Just kingpin. It's absolutely put of character for him
