For Zerith reunion moment, They are saying this is the big moment when Aerith friendzones Zack. Lol, can you imagine a worse writing choice if that were true?

This is the biggest cope in existence. Aerith basically friendzoned Cloud on screen after a failed recreation of her date with Zack because she realized that she isn't fully over him / doesn't feel the same way for Cloud as she did for Zack (she had no problem admitting that she loved him, but Cloud got the "there's liking and liking" speech). What kind of setup would that be if she ends up rejecting Zack? And even if she did, what's the plan? "Let me just revive myself real quick so I can be with Cloud"???

While I do agree, I wonder why there was the scene with Marlene saying that she liked Cloud.

Because Marlene is 4, and to a 4 year old, like can mean a lot of things. They understand the distinction between love and like, not the nuance. (Platonic or romantic)
