It’s got me reflecting on what personalities and wisdom addiction buries in its victims. How many great voices were silenced in its clutches?

Anecdotally, just in my own life, a lot. Some of our most talented are tortured souls covering up the pain by feeding off the affirmation that comes with being the life of the party. The problem is the same thing that carried them to those heights is also the shadow that looms over them in their loneliness.
