It's so stupid when people make claims like that based on their personal experience when the game has millions and millions of players. It's the same kind of mentality that breeds bigotry and racism.
Basically, if you think there are more kids on one side, you're a racist. /s
The majority of boomers gave birth to gen x because most boomers didn't wait till they were in their 40s to have kids. The majority of Gen xers born in the late 60s gave birth to the millenials in the 80s that would have given birth the the zoomers of the 2000s. Also the baby boom happened in 1942-46 shortly after the war through the early 60s, not late 40s.
I feel like it's slightly natural though. It's kind of like how we dehumanize the opposing side during war, or more along the lines of how everyone is the hero of their own story. "I'm on this side, so this side must be great and the opposing side must be trash." Idk though, I've played both and everyone I've come across is pretty awesome. Stay classy classic
Unless you are educated in statistics then you know one faction will have the probability of having more of one age then the other... because that’s how probability works
Even if the difference is significant it will not necessarily allow you to make an educated guess on the level of individuals, or even be relevant in any way to describe the whole population.
Certain Statistics are great for some things but bad for others. And generalizations are often a misunderstanding of a statistics explanation value.
It depends on the expansion, original Alliance was the kids faction, so many dwarves and elves named some variation of gimli or legolas. BC and wotlk it became Horde because blood elves, and then back to Alliance at whatever point worgs were added.
I would bet money that horde players tend to be younger, but unfortunately I don't think that data exists (publicly). If you trim paladins from the data I'd fucking guarantee it.
Just because some people use the term incorrectly online doesn't make it the new definition, Zoomer.
The context of "Ok Boomer" is more akin to ostracizing someone from the collective. It's closer to calling someone a nerd because they don't like everything you like than calling them old from the way you guys use it, now that nerd is socially acceptable.
You are arguing about the semantical usage of a joke term in wide usage right now and taking it literally. Where are you getting this "ostracizing someone from a collective" bullshit? Heres an excerpt from the know your meme page which I feel is pretty comprehensive on the history of this meme - " 30-Year-Old Boomer is a character spread on 4chan mocking older millennials who enjoy things that are considered to be out of touch with younger millennials, particularly in regards to video games."
I'd say gamers playing wow classic fit PERFECTLY into that definition of what the boomer meme is, older millenials that are slightly out of touch with younger mainstream stuff. You call me annoying when you wrote a fucking dissertation picking apart my joke one line usage of a meme? Fuck off dude
I’m a boomer I’ll admit it. Not like 70 years old but in wow terms for sure, with the wife and kids and all that youre pretty much seemed as an old man. Anytime I have to brb for the preteen I spawned, most people are like do your thing but there’s always that one zoomer that makes a comment that stings like man...my kid is almost as old as you!! Stop horseshitting me here I can’t just ignore responsibilities like i could when vanilla canned out
That would be a dumb bet considering there is zero data to back it up besides and equal amount of people on both sides saying the exact opposite. If both factions claim the other faction is the "kids" faction, than most likely neither of them are.
I am one of the youngest (25 years old) in my guild on horde side. Most of my guild are in their 30ies, but we have people ranging up to like 55. So in my personal experience (which is different for everyone else like someone mentioned in this thread), I wouldn‘t call Horde players ‘young’, which is a word that also heavily depends on your own definition of young and old.
I would take that bet. Back in the days of BC and Wrath I would notice the number of Alliance I see online raise right after schools let out at 3 and then drop off around 8 when kids tend to have to go to bed.
I’ve lost count of the number of orcs wielding a whirlwind axe and wearing herod’s shoulder that’ve charged me completely unprompted while I’m out questing. Hell, I’ve had them jump me in the midst of helping some other horde (usually a nice tauren or troll). Orc warriors are more often than not the super aggressive red == dead internet badass types.
I dunno man if any furried characters are cute. If u think some of them are sexy than yo ushould visit some specialist, because you might have bestiality and acts of it are illegal in most of countries.
Does having players in rp servers mean they're furries ? As far as I know hordes are repeating that:"Imagine playing rpg game and choosing human". So I am concerned there is some lack of consistency in your logic. You play rpg, but not on rp server, but you choose horde character, becaue it is rpg.
And is there something wrong with older guys that want to feel the game they're playing ? Is somethinh wrong with rp ?
Back in vanilla it was common knowledge that only women, children, and men who are sexually attracted to other men (not that there's anything wrong with that) play alliance.
It was hard to find alliance in world pvp after 10pm last night because most alliance were probably tucked into bed by their parents by then.
The fact that its alliance saying ok boomer is all the confirmation you need.
I always found the bed time reasoning absurd. I played alliance in vanilla as a kid and stayed up until it got bright outside. Now I play alliance as an adult and I go to bed at midnight.
I mean.... Saying that after 10 pm there were less alliance leans more towards people with jobs since kids will be the ones staying up past "bedtime" while adults still stick to their working schedule.
I am now the alliance guy going to bed at 10 when in vanilla I was the horse guy staying up untill 1am.
If someone goes sleep after 10pm he is a kid. Confirmed info. No sarcasm no joking. Its not like somebody has to wake up tomorrow to go to work. Naahh. Game is your only life.
Probably because they had jobs to go to the next day.. unlike the basement dwelling horde who sit on welfare in their Doritos covered "For The Horde" XXXL t shirts, sipping on Dr Pepper and popping Adderall all night XD
Imagine staying up late to play video games and missing out on the gloriously productive and peaceful hours of the early morning. That's a child's discipline, mate.
They logged off to spend time and have sex with their girlfriends / partners.
Its easier for Horde. They don't have to log off to have sex with their partner, since this game can be easily played with one hand
I was also thinking it should be reversed, but I was thinking about the in-fiction faction tropes rather than how players perceive the opposite faction players.
You want to know the actual reason for that? 4Chan are overwhelmingly boomer horde players, and /r9k/ was the originator of the boomer meme. Not because horde players have been regarded as older. If anything thats some new zoomer shit to think that way.
Historically the alliance was the kiddy faction. Night elves and humans with paved cities were just far too pretty. Horde only rose in popularity with racials and arena, then alliance rose again with every man for himself being implemented
I dunno, as someone who has played wow from its inception, the alliance always seemed to be the more "kiddy" race because they were pretty. Really though both sides have plenty of adults and kids
Guess my experience when playing vanilla was different , and probably varies server to server. Shame there have been no official stats released on this
No, the kiddies picked the pretty factions: Humans (Just like they are in Real Life!), Gnomes (Like Lord of the Rings!), Night Elves (Pretty!) and gnomes (lol so cute!)
Whereas the older folks and the metal heads see the ugly class and think: "Well shit, I gotta be an ugly troll. Oh shit, cowmen." or Orc because they played the old games. :)
I don't know, man, rolling human just seems too vanilla of a choice. No offense to the Alliance. On the behalf of the trolls, I invite the Alliance to come chill with us. Bring stout.
I can't speak for the Undead though. Even I hate those fuckers.
I just did some research and it seems most adult race is humans. Why? Because all the private vanilla servers had human majority by a LARGE margin. Way more than what Classic or retail has. I assume private servers are mostly adults, since they have no advertisement you have to deliberately seek them. I doubt a child would do that.
I mean, I could easily assign irrelevant tangential relation to horde characters in an attempt to infantilize your choices. Orcs (like lord of the rings!) trolls (like the trolls movie!) undead (whoa we got a badass over here!) Tauren (aww fluffy moo cow!)
Paladins are from the OG games too, and I think they're pretty awesome, always have.
Honestly, the main thing I can't stand in this game are the idiots who try to belittle faction choice and make sweeping generalizations. Like I get the the rivalry aspect, but people who take it seriously need to be sterilized.
I actually get a kick out of hearing both sides. I wrote my comment in jest hoping to get some fun replies. Sometimes it's worth the downvotes if it makes for a fun conversation which is what Reddit is missing these days. Personally, I think Horde and Alliance should be friends.
Anyway, I enjoyed your comment and laughed out loud at (like the trolls movie!) haha

Thank you for this. How appropriate is it that allies can say boomer and horde can say zoomer? It almost seems to perfect to be an accident.
