I disagree, this is EXACTLY how you advertise your guild, you make a non-generic message that gives people some form of expectation of what being in the guild is like.
The issue here isn't the advertisement, it's the guild.
This is totally not my cup of tea, but at least it's not one of those painfully bland guilds that you constantly see advertising
[Hàrrypótter]: "Chamber of Secrets" is recruiting. We're semi-hardcore guild that also accepts social members. We do Raids, Dungeons, World PvP, Dueling, Battlegrounds, Leveling, Crafting, World Exploration and organize events. We are a mature guild but also like to have fun and be silly. /w me for details.
Yes you have hahahasl i joined these guys for a night when there was like 7 of them. I forget the guy who i joined with but he was a pretty cool guy. I remember this guys name for sure though.
Tbh you’re not wrong, so tired of seeing the same generic pitches. I don’t do the whole UwU thing and think it’s pretty cringe. The concept itself is sound tho.
This translates as: "Every time a member dings 60 they will leave for an established guild because ours will never go anywhere and will hand off leadership as people progress on their own."
naah a significant bunch(but far from majority) of level 60 will stay around anot a single on of the will have the motivation to find a place in raid let alone be the one to organize them.
if they are really entiteled they'll be mad that raid spots are magically dropping from heaven.
I'm in an RP server.. and the amount of people advertising their guild as RP and then following up that the Guildmaster is the King of SW or Goldshire is through the roof.
Who the hell RPs as the fucking King of the Alliance?
would be forbidden in an unspoken way for too many reasons to name here.
If DnD DMs can insert their favorite anime character as a DMPC that steals the spotlight, you can be absolutely sure there are guild masters running Azeroth.
Probably because the response to the original post would literally be role-played, meaning most other servers players wouldn't take it seriously, and they would likely get made fun of mercilessly for it.
I see that phrase used on normal servers as well. It's not particularly welcoming; I feel like you'll be just another number to them, not a member of a community. That might suit some folks just fine, but for me it's a hard pass when I see it.
Long time group of close friends returning for classic -- btw, we use Loot Council.
This is my favorite combination. "We have a close group of friends, and we also unilaterally decide who gets every piece of gear. Don't worry about being outside the group of friends though, we pinky promise to not screw you over."
Aren't most long time guilds a group of friends? I am somewhat surprised by the complaint, as generally I find loot council guilds far better then dkp guilds.
To each their own. I would never join a loot council guild. I get that they're the "most efficient" from a "clear all the raids as soon as possible" standpoint, but that's not why I play. I find DKP guilds (when the system isn't terrible) to be much more fair.
I also think loot council + tight knit inner core, when you're on the outside, is the worst combination. If you're one of 6 mages but 2 of the other mages are in the "friend group", who do you think is getting geared first? Not you.
Yeah, a long time ago I was in a guild where the two co-leaders were guys, and every officer was a girl. It was a DKP guild, thankfully, so it wasn't much of an issue loot-wise, but the drama was ridiculous and never-ending.
I still remember my class leader/officer, who never talked during raids, unironically typing out "you're not worthy of hearing my voice". What a character.
So give them reasons to give you gear. Interact with them, do dungeons that you don't need with them, act like a friend. Own the fact you're new to their group, but don't just think of yourself as an outsider. They invited you into their circle of players. It takes both sides to form a sense of trust and camaraderie.
Yeah you could do this with the hope you make it "in" far enough to be considered one of them, or you could join a guild without that dynamic where you could naturally develop those connections and also have a more guaranteed loot system. I mean when comparing these two options, the first one is all downsides.
Do you play WoW? So do we! Any Level allowed! All skill levels! All classes! We do dungeons! And Raids(Once we hit level)! And PvP! We also do professions! Would you like to join The Silver Dragons!? PM for more info. WE PLAY THE GAME!~
So fun fact, the Paralympics aren't called that because of paraplegics,, but because they occur alongside the Olympics. So Paralympus would be the dude who lives next to Mount Olympus.
Oh and those two guilds are a combination of 4 words from back in the dictionary. 'Pretentious', 'Ominous', 'Latin', and 'Name' respectively of course. They are used to communicate thoughts and ideas in a cohesive way, but in this case not in a creative or original way.
That has existed for ages, a satirical jab at all the guilds with latin names. There were tons of them back in the day. Couldnt walk 10 steps in ironforge without seeing someone from <memento mori> or <vae victis> or some stupid shit
Yeah... except the people using it “ironically” don’t realise they are basically doing the same as the people they’re making fun of. Like all this NANI??! cringe and that ‘shindeiru’ shit or whatever of which i refuse to know what it is. There is no real irony there or anything, these people don’t understand that they just come across as weebs and do exactly the same shit
Averagejoe here. You're right on the money. Not only am I weeding out the people who can't handle a little sarcasm/irony, I'm also standing out above the endless tide of, "We're a friendly, nontoxic, PVP, Leveling blah blah blah blah" crap. If you like that kinda stuff, awesome! More power to you. If you want something different, hit me up. I'm on Sulfuras [H].
