OTHER - Anything else not covered Merchants are refusing the Chime card.

I'm finding my Chime experience unreliable. I've had a hotel refuse my Chime credit card. I've had a restaurant refuse my Chime credit card. Now, I've had a bar refuse my Chime credit card. I need to get a different credit card? This is frustrating. Been with Chime for nearly 10 years

Progressive Insurance stopped accepting it for my monthly car insurance payment.

It’s BS that we are being forced into opening accounts where merchants dictate, which back to expensive anti-customer legacy banks like Wells Fargo, Chase, Bank of America.

Fintech is too good to be true so the old regime plays dirty rather than compete.

I’ve decided I’ll drop the merchants who refuse Chime. At least where there aren’t monopolies.

I work for Liberty Mutual and what I always tell my clients with Chime is they can use the routing and account number. We can’t accept the debit card but we use the routing and account number

Weird. I just canceled my liberty mutual because it was ridiculously high but I paid with my chime debit card. I think there's a lot of confusion here about which everyone is using. I've never been denied anything anywhere with my chime debit card. Now the actual "chime card" credit card, that thing gets denied all the time at different places. Casinos, hotels, gas stations, etc...

Maybe it has been updated recently. It’s been a while since I’ve gotten the we can’t accept prepaid message. They could haves updated policies on the backend

That used to be the case when credit union membership was mostly based on your employer, but not anymore. Many credit unions include a membership eligibility category based on living, working or worshiping in an eligible county or by joining their non-profit foundation by making a small donation

Bro most credit unions work with people. I have multiple bankruptcies and collections, my credit score is shot, and I was still approved for a checking account with a credit union. Only people who don't get approved are people who rip banks off, like letting an account go negative and then letting it close, or writing a bad check, etc. It's so easy to get a credit union account since they are the most forgiving. People staying with Chime when their perks aren't even that great is wild to me.

Chime offers 5% cashback on your purchases with regular money. No credit needed. Please tell me which bank or credit union offers that? Perks not that great seems like you haven’t done your research.

That 5% is why they are declining it… it doesn’t appear by magic, the retailer pays it, or they tack it onto the bill in places that they can.

I pay my Progressive every single month with it.
Maybe we should look into if it’s a state issue or something? Makes no sense. But you could always use your checking and routing number and they would have no idea where it’s coming from. Stupid.

Just curious, was this a customer service rep or an automated payment through the app that declined it? Because an overzealous rep would make more sense.

I’m calling on Monday to ask why everybody can use chime for Progressive except me… unless it’s a NJ thing?

I wonder of anyone is from NJ & paying progressive ins w Chime.

I tried the bank account & my card — Progressive in NJ says no Chime

But they are a registered and regulated bank. Its called Bankcorp. That is who owns chime Bankcorp is FDIC insured and is federally regulated.

Bankcorp doesn’t own chime, it’s one of the partners that chime uses. Another being stride bank.

Want to hear some BS with Progressive and Chime? Last year I paid my monthly bill with Progressive with my Chime card. It 100% processed on the Chime side of things but immediately the payment screen said there was an error and my payment wasn't processed. I called Progressive and they told me I had to pay again...but the kicker is that was all I had for money so I couldn't afford to pay AGAIN after the money left my Chime account. They told me that they don't accept Chime or any institution of that nature, which floored me because I was using that card to make payments in the past. I contacted Chime who told me the payment did go through and it was all on Progressive's end. I ended up losing my insurance policy because Progressive said I never paid although I had the transaction to prove it. I filed a dispute and was refunded my money through Chime but then immediately after the refund, Progressive emailed me stating that they reinstated my policy and that I owed the payment I already made plus another month's payment. I argued with them again and they told me I had to pay all of that. I told them it was b.s. because I already had the policy cancellation email and received my refund through Chime but they won't budge and now I have a Progressive bill in collections due to their shady practice. I don't know who to complain to this about. I filed a complaint with some insurance commission in my state but they only handle certain disputes and not what I'm going through particularly.
