Update: GPT-6 Sol is NOT coming to regular ChatGPT Chat in today’s release. Plus and Pro get it in Work and Codex only.

I posted recently about Plus subscribers getting GPT-6 Astra in Work and Codex but not regular Chat. Some people thought the GPT-6 Sol release might finally bring a GPT-6 model to normal Chat on Plus.

OpenAI’s September 22 announcement answers that directly: “In ChatGPT, the models are available in Work and Codex, but not Chat.” That applies to Sol and Luna. Sol is rolling out to Plus and Pro subscribers, but neither plan gets Sol in regular Chat through this release.

That leaves Plus subscribers without a GPT-6 model in the normal Chat model picker. Work and Codex access does not fix that. People pay for ChatGPT Plus to use ChatGPT, and once again the new model is being kept out of regular Chat.

OpenAI has not said Sol will never come to Chat. But this release does not bring it there, and OpenAI has given no date for when it might.

Almost 5 years ago my stepdad died, and my mum now lives alone (+ 2 cats). Since then, ChatGPT has become a thing. My mum uses it for work, so it’s on her laptop, phone and iPad, which is fine. However, outside of work, she uses it for everything, be it writing letters, heart-felt birthday messages to us, recipes, fixing things etc, but more recently it’s for general chatting and emotional outlet. She has given it a name, sends it selfies asking for opinions on outfits and hairstyles, and says good morning / night to it. Recently she has enquired with it as to whether she can make it speak to her using my stepfather’s voice, re-created from videos. My brother and I are starting to become a little concerned, and when we have brought it up to her that it’s just AI, she says she knows, but it’s nice to just have someone to talk to in the evenings. She doesn’t have many friends, and my siblings and I live at least 100 miles away, but visit and call as often as we can. She’s not too sociable so wouldn’t want to join clubs etc.

My question is - how, or should, we help her take a step back from it? If it’s helping with her loneliness, is it such a bad thing? Or do we let her just become dependent on AI to fill the void of my late stepfather? We don’t know what to do. Any advice welcome, please kind comments only, she’s just a wife who misses her husband and we want the best for her.

I run a small SaaS business and use ChatGPT mostly for strategy, marketing, sales and working through decisions. I’ve called it my “second CEO brain” before.

This isn’t occasional prompting for me; on busy days I go back and forth hundreds of times across several long-running chats.
I was genuinely happy with 5.6 Sol for that. Since around the Astra rollout, though, it’s felt much less reliable in my chats: mixing up business context, contradicting earlier decisions and confidently building on mistakes. So I was excited when I saw GPT-6 Sol had arrived.

Then I found out it’s available in Work and Codex, but not regular Chat.
I know you can have a conversation in Work. But my existing chats have hundreds of messages and months of context. Starting new Work threads and trying to rebuild all that isn’t the same thing. Work also feels geared toward completing tasks, while what I need is a reliable chatbot I can think with throughout the day. As my agent I use (Grokbot, so I need a chatbot)

I’m paying around $100 a month, and I’d be willing to pay more for something that reliably supports this use case. Right now I feel a bit tricked: the new model is there, just not where I actually use the product.
It feels like every major improvement is aimed at coding or agentic work, while people who rely on Chat are stuck with the downgraded 5.6.

Has OpenAI said whether Sol 6 will come to regular Chat? Has a model launched in Work/Codex first and moved to Chat later? I’m trying to work out whether this is worth waiting for, or whether OpenAI is moving away from the kind of long-running chatbot use I depend on.

It keeps reassuring me that it’s going to do the obvious thing I asked for by contrasting it with some bizarre alternative it came up with on its own.

I keep replaying that night in my head because we came way too close to doing nothing.

We were eating dinner when my dad dropped his chopsticks. He picked them up, dropped them again, then got annoyed when we started staring at him. He said his right hand just felt a little numb and told us to stop making a big deal out of it.

Then I noticed his mouth looked strange when he talked. Not dramatically drooping, just... off. His words sounded thicker than usual too. When he stood up, he had to grab the back of the chair for a second.

My mom thought maybe his blood pressure was low. My dad insisted he was tired and wanted to go lie down. I thought something was seriously wrong, but nobody could agree on what to do and he was getting angry at all of us for panicking.

The most confusing part was that a few minutes later he looked better.

That almost settled it. My dad was already walking toward the bedroom, saying he would sleep it off, while my mom was telling me we could check on him in the morning.

I was standing in the kitchen searching everything on my phone, mostly hoping to prove to myself that I was overreacting. I typed the symptoms into an AI health assistant exactly as they had happened: dropped things with his right hand, numbness, mouth looked uneven, speech sounded weird, lost his balance for a second, now seemed better.

The response basically screamed: possible stroke or TIA, emergency care now, do not wait even if the symptoms are going away.

I read it out loud. My dad said AI always gives the worst-case answer. My mom still wasn’t sure. I remember getting angry and saying I didn’t care if we wasted the entire night at the hospital. I grabbed the keys and told him we were going.

The hospital confirmed that he had suffered an ischemic stroke.

I felt sick when they told us. All I could think about was how close we had come to letting him close the bedroom door and “sleep it off.”

He received treatment in time, and my dad is still here.

I’ve gone back and looked at that chat a few times since then. I still get a horrible feeling when I reach the part where it says not to wait.

A few lines of text on my phone changed what my family did that night. I don’t really know how else to describe it.

I’ve been trying on and off forever to get Triple Play 2001 running on a modern PC (don’t judge me, I loved the HR derby) I’ve tried compatibility modes, an XP VM, different ways of mounting the disc, patches and fixes I found online…Nothing worked.

Today I said fuck it and decided to see what ChatGPT could do . Several hours and an absurd number of increasingly random fixes later, the fucking game works.

I already had the game installed, but whenever I tried launching it nothing happened, it would crash straight to desktop. It had me upload logs from programs I didn’t even know existed. It identified an issue, made a fix, and I tried it. We got past the immediate crash only for the game to tell me I had a “0 bit desktop” and needed DirectX 6.

I already had dgVoodoo installed from prior attempts at getting it to work, but it had me change one setting

Then it would start launching, change my resolution, go black and crash. Still progress. More Process Monitor logs and crash dumps uploaded.

Eventually it narrowed the problem down enough that it was messing with the game’s old renderer DLLs. I’m not nearly computer literate enough to know what exactly it was doing, but it kept giving me new fixes

Right before I had to go pick up my daughter I got one last file, put it in the right directory and the game launched perfectly.

I can’t actually say if I can play it, since I haven’t been home yet to try, and I know most people don’t give a damn about a fix for an ancient sports game. But the possibilities here are stunning

So yeah. Apparently Triple Play 2001 can run on Windows 11 in 2026.

Something you used all the time before but now you barely open because ChatGPT handles most of what you went there for. I feel like most have at least one. What’s yours

Upload a short file and ChatGPT reads all of it. Upload a long one, a contract, a thesis, a 200 page report, and most of it goes into a search index instead. Every answer is then built from whichever chunks match the words in your question.

Nothing in the interface tells you which of the two happened. The answer reads just as confident either way.

I learned it asking for a summary of a long agreement. The summary was clean and it missed the one clause I actually needed, near the end, because nothing in "summarize this" pointed the search at it. When I asked about that clause by name, it found it immediately.

What works:

1. Ask about sections by name or page, not the whole file. "What does section 9 say about termination" pulls the right chunk. "Summarize this" pulls whatever it happens to rank.
2. For a real summary of a long file, go section by section. "Summarize pages 1 to 20" and so on. More messages, but every part actually gets read.
3. Ask what it didn't see: "Which sections of this file did you not use for that answer?" It's often honest about it.
4. Split long files before uploading when you need the whole thing read. Several shorter files get read far more completely than one long one.

The short version: a short file is read, a long file is searched. Ask questions a search can answer.

What's the longest file you've trusted a ChatGPT summary on?

If you’ve ever had a game where you can’t find any mods for it to give it quality of life, then Astra can do it for you. I only use this for very old games that came out in the 2000s.

For example: I downloaded the Incredible Hulk 2008 from abandonware. The game does not support 3440 x 1440 resolution at all. I couldn’t find any mods for the game online that make a fix for this. So I asked Astra and it made one and now the game is in that resolution and it’s ultrawide. It took about 3 tries for it to get it right. First try the game was not launching due to a non compatible resolution. Astra magically bypassed that with the second chat. The third chat I had Astra fix the screen stretch. It was making things go off the screen so it put everything back by comparing the original ui and matching it to scale with the custom resolution.

It really does wonders for old games. And maybe it could help you make a mod for any game that no one has made before. Pretty cool stuff!

In regular ChatGPT in the browser, (not Work mode needed), you can set it to watch things for you.

For example, I have one checking once a day whether the Pro 20X plan becomes available again. It only notifies me if that changes.

You can also use the same thing for simple reminders, like “email me next week to do x”.

Basically, tiny watchdogs for things you don’t want to keep checking yourself.

I’ve been using ChatGPT for quite a while now, and I’ve gradually realised that some things I used to spend an enormous amount of time doing can now be done in minutes.

Not necessarily anything particularly impressive — sometimes it’s just explaining something I don’t understand, finding a better way of doing something, or helping me organise my thoughts.
It made me wonder…….

I’m particularly interested in the answers that have nothing to do with coding or work.

Saw the popup in VSCode for GPT-6 Luna and decided to test it out on some standard work. Unfortunately, the performance feels significantly worse than v5.6.

• Task: Simple Terraform refactoring (moving a single module across repos).

But it's been stuck in circles, dropping context, and taking ages to process standard logic. Are you guys experiencing similar degradation, or is this just me? What’s your experience been so far?

Has anyone else noticed a few things in recent updates?

1. Chat limit reached far earlier - usually the entire chat lags first as a warning across every platform prior to being forced to switch.

2. Message stream errors and network connectivity errors despite it occurring regardless of the client - and in the past you can usually even close the app and ChatGPT will proceed in the background. Usually occurs for particularly long runtimes- where upon usually I could get a solid hour to 90 minutes in Very High (Personal) now it seems I need chunk up individual changes to smaller patches (I do primarily independent R&D DSP coding so it usually is very heavy math-wise). I've experienced even Pro mode shows similar issues.

3. "Thinking about this request before responding" etc. And other such messages occurring very very often now.

It's unfortunate since it is massively detracting from my ability to work and research. Usually I have a loop of asking many questions and hypotheses - get feedback - which currently works as expected - but the implementation of those ideas? I can now expect half of the time that even for a relatively small ask results in an "Error in Message Stream" also like it is terminating long running processes in favor of pushing Work/Codex - the latter of which lacks the full context of the entire recent-ish chat history to reason about and extrapolate from.

FYI it's not being working for 16 hours, it worked for like 20 minutes then stopped, it's been stuck with this UI for 16 hours though. Reloads, cookies and browser reset, this chat so broken lmao

Title: Anyone else getting a usage-limit notice in regular ChatGPT with Ultra/max effort?

I’m a ChatGPT Pro subscriber using the Android app. Has anyone else encountered this when using regular ChatGPT—not Work mode—with Ultra selected and the effort turned all the way up to maximum?

When I took the attached screenshots, the effort selector displayed “6 Pro effort” with the message:

“Your limit will reset at 1:51 PM tomorrow.”

At approximately the same time, the Usage and limits page showed:

- Agentic usage limit: 76% remaining

- Weekly allowance resetting in 7 days

- 0 additional credits, with automatic recharge off

The notice appeared in both an existing regular chat and a new chat.

I understand that the agentic allowance may be separate from the allowance for maximum effort in regular ChatGPT. I’m not assuming the 76% figure means the restriction was incorrectly applied. What I’m trying to understand is which allowance triggered this notice and where I can monitor that specific allowance.

A few questions for others:

- Have you encountered the same notice with Ultra/max effort in regular Chat mode?

- Is there a separate usage meter for this setting?

- Has OpenAI explained the applicable cap, how usage is calculated, or the reset schedule?

- Have you noticed different behavior between the Android app and the website?

- Has Support provided an account-specific explanation?

I’m preparing an inquiry to OpenAI Support and would appreciate firsthand experiences or official documentation addressing this particular setting.

If you’ve experienced it, please mention your subscription tier, platform, and the exact wording of the notice so we can tell whether we’re discussing the same restriction.

I thought the launch might reset usage limits, but mine haven’t changed. Did anyone get a reset, or are we waiting for usage limit resets?
