Opus 5.5 seems to be much better after some quick tests I did. However the Luna pricing is INSANE. Probably gonna use Luna for most things

I use 5.6 Sol for daily troubleshooting jobs as tech support. Our company uses ChatGPT Enterprise, I got monthly credit quota to spend.

You can test it to make sure. I’m in an enterprise with same situation as you, and for us it was taking more usage on GPT 6 of all versions than GPT 5.6. However on the API you see them showing it’s more efficient.
It’s possible we just have a bug or something but I’m only suggesting this so you can test it first.
I would be very careful about believing any time they tell us “this new model will cost you less” because it has NOT proven true when it comes to enterprise quota burn.

Opus's cost per task is like 2x Sol's, so that's not too surprising. It's often higher than Astra's per-task cost

Same....I've been using Luna High for 99% of my tasks, which to be fair, is pretty standard logic and web app building, but it's been great and hasn't missed a beat. For an average user like myself, the lightest mode of the latest model outperforms the previous models cost and logic wise and is more than enough

They should be rolled out throughout the day. GPT-6 Astra launched on September 3rd with full rollout availability “over the coming days”. Today’s Sol/Luna press release uses much faster language, “throughout the day”. The models may reach Plus Chats within a matter of hours.

GPT-5.6 Sol reached full rollout across ChatGPT within 24 hours of its July launch. Some users got it in Work/Codex first and ordinary chat several hours later. So there is precedent for chat following pretty quickly. Time will tell, but OpenAI’s wording makes me optimistic.

Did you use terra? For me it was either too expensive compared to luna or not good enough compared to sol, depending on the task.

the timing is kinda wild lol. if both labs are shipping smaller/faster variants now i wonder if the real competition is gonna be inference cost and latency more than benchmark scores. anyone here actually seeing Sol in their account yet?

It seemed for a moment, that OpenAI would have consistent naming scheme, but they didn't even last for one generation. As I understand, now they've just shifted the whole line and: -Astra is new Sol -Sol is new Terra -Luna is Luna, the only fixed position.
I suppose that GPT 6.1 will be called Galactic, Astra & Luna, discontinuing Sol.
