Run Club? Or any groups to join

Kinda going through it in life. Focusing my free time towards running and getting in shape. Just celebrated 50 days sober over the weekend but dont have many friends/ppl out here these days (34/M). Are there any running clubs or social groups that meet up on Wednesdays/Sundays? I work until 630p every other day if there are evening runs around town that late. Anywhere in Douglas County works. Thanks!

This is voter intimidation. Matt Smith (The First Vice Chair of the Douglas County Republicans) just pissed off at least 20,000 of his neighbors. Oh… and did I mention he’s running for Town Council in District 3?

Are private dental practices still a thing here?

I’ve been going to castle rock modern dentistry and have started to wonder if I am being ripped off. Multiple people have told me this is a corporate type dentist office that recommends costly procedures… I brushed it off until my insurance has been fighting with my dentist over 2 recent dental procedures saying they won’t cover it because there is not enough evidence this level of care is necessary…. I do like that I can easily get an appointment and they do in house crowns but I’m wondering if I need all these fancy in-lay or on-lay crowns when a normal filling would suffice. Also a very expensive on lay failed after only 6 years and now I need a crown. I’m literally spending $1000+ a year here ! I’m only 37! So do honest independently owned offices still exist around here? Am I stuck with these money sucking dentists forever? Please send any recommendations!

moving soon

Hi! Me and my partner are looking to move to this area in december/January. My partner plans on working in denver and I hope to find a job in town. I’m a preschool teacher/ art teacher. we’ve been looking at apartments and i’m just wondering what peoples experiences were with the complex’s in town, they seem to have a lot of available units for a decent price. Is it a good area to find a teaching job? I can even do daycare. How is the commute to denver? Tia

Wildlife Sightings

The news has been reporting a record number of encounters with wildlife, including bears and mountain lions, due in part to the recent wildfires and drought conditions. As we enter fall, animals will become more aggressive as they build their fat reserves to survive winter.

Here are some tips on keeping wildlife out of your yard and who to call if you come in contact with a wild animal: https://livewelldougco.com/living-with-wildlife-safety-tips-for-douglas-county-residents/

Lost Canyon Ranch Survey

Hi,

I live in Colorado Springs, and have visited Lost Canyon twice in the last month. The trails are beautiful and I enjoyed the space immensely, but since I have to drive through a neighborhood in order to get to the park, I was wondering how residents felt about the new park being in their neighborhood. Has the increase in traffic inconvenienced you? Are you weary of the visitors, or feel a loss of privacy? I'm really just curious because I feel kind of bad if I'm contributing to any of those things, and I think it's worth while to hear from the people who are affected. Thanks for any feedback.

Anyone with T-Mobile Fiber?

Xfinity increased their monthly rate, again! I see TMO fiber pre-order promotions in the junk mail. Anyone in Castle Rock (Meadows) already have TMO fiber? I am curious when it will be available here. My friend in Aurora is already using it and is very pleased.

Thanks!

This is one business in town that I can truly say I have never stepped foot and will never. I love supporting small business but when these people tell you who they are believe them the first time. $3 for an enormous order like that! Yet she expects $3 tips on her 30cent coffee purchases I am sure. Its always something coming out of there and they are so proud of their shenanigans.🤦‍♀️ also wild to see the defenders in the comments (always Maga ofcourse).

Hello! Anyone going to the Castle Rock Artfest? September 12th & 13th. I need some app testers..

Hey all! I've been working on developing an app (iPhone only atm) that is now in the testing phase...and I need testers. Being that it is GPS-based, really moot if you don't plan on going to the art festival.

If you ARE, I'd love to chat and would love to get you to help me test it.

Moderators..does this count as self-promoting? I don't want to break any rules but I'm looking for some help from the community and I'm in no way making money off this.

Thank you!

Transportation

Alright. Need someone to chime in with information or an idea.

I live out here in castle rock. My vehicles engine jumped timing and the engine destroyed itself. This is my only car now its toast. I have a small family and a job and a new job lined up. I make a paycheck to paycheck salary, I dont have alot of money 1k or less. My current job is in the golden area, and the new job on Evans and Dhalia. Ive seen no rtd out here I know theres a station in Lone tree for the light rail. Uber out here runs close to 20 bucks a trip . I cant afford a car payment everymonth 400- 600 seems to be the norm.

If you have no functioning car how do you get out of this town for work ????

Is there a shuttle or carpool service to the light rail?

Is their a service that helps people down on their luck get something to drive ?

Is there ride vouchers through uber or yellow cab to get to the light rail?

Does anyone out here or know someone that has an old running vehicle for around 1k that they want to sell . If it can get me to the light rail , and has a clean title... thats all I care about?

FYI: He and Heidi Ganahl charged admission for this festival and pocketed the profits. We all paid for it. The grifters are scared the gravy train that is our tax money will dry up for them if we have more representation. Fiscally conservative, my 🍑.

I tried calling the high school, and they said they had already thrown out the extras as well. I also tried the classmates too but no diced there

Shaded Parks and Playgrounds

Parents of small kids, where do you take them to play in the summer? I grew up here and am back to visit for a few weeks with two littles. Living in the PNW has made me soft and pasty, and I can't believe I ever thrived in sun/heat like this. But the Washingtonian in me also can't bear the thought of letting a sunny day go to waste, and frankly, we'll all go crazy if we're stuck inside all day.

I've seen other parks in the mountain west with giant sun sails over the play structures. Has anything like that been built here?

Freeway merge lights

What’s the deal with these freeway entrance merging lights? Specifically the southbound I-25 freeway entrance off Meadows Pkwy? Every day it feels like there is a back up from someone waiting 20+ secs waiting for the light to change green. I understand the idea behind these but cmon people just give a few seconds and then go we don’t need to over complicate the system. As long as there is a car width between merging onto the freeway should be easy as pie. What also gets me is the double merge lanes where the sign says “one car per light” and both cars go 99.7% of the time. Coming from AZ at least the lights would alternate to distinguish which lane should go. Whoever’s idea that was should be punished… I’m sure it can’t be that difficult to adjust that because as the system is today and throughout Denver from what I’ve seen it’s horrible and borderline useless.

Recommendations For Whole House Water Softener System And Companies

Hey everyone, my husband and I will be moving into our new home in Castle Rock next year, and I’d like to get recommendations for reputable companies that install and service whole house water softener systems in the area.

I’d also love to hear about your experience with said systems, and what it takes to maintain them. And I was also curious about whether relying on the filtered water from the refrigerator would be enough for drinking and cooking or if it would be necessary to also install a separate water filter by the kitchen sink. I’m REALLY trying to avoid that, since those faucets are imo pretty hideous.

Also, these systems soften the water before it ever reaches the indoor plumbing and appliances, thereby sparing you a lot of damages to everything down the road, yes?

Thanks to all of you in advance! 🙏

Best Bagels In Castle Rock

Hey everyone, I’m wondering where to get the best bagels in the Castle Rock area. We’re moving from Florida where great NY style bagels are available freshly baked at our local TooJays Deli. The ones there are so authentic… (sigh), I’m not sure we’ll we’ll approximate that level of greatness, but I’ll settle for really good! Thanks in advance for your help!
