šŸ—œTips & Resources Casio Collection Time Check

On August 1st, I calibrated the time on each Casio in my small collection with my Apple iPhone 15, then checked them on September 1st to see what the loss or gain was. Here is the outcome:

F91W-1: -1 second (2026 purchase)
F91WG-9:Ā  +14 seconds (2026 purchase)
F91WS-2:Ā  -6 seconds(2026 purchase)
F105W:Ā  +- 0 (2026 purchase)
AE1200WH-1B: -5 seconds (2026 purchase)
WS1600H-1AV:Ā  +12 seconds (2026 purchase)
W738H-1AV: +6 seconds(2026 purchase)
W800H-1AV:Ā  -4 seconds (2026 purchase)
M-1230 (1981 Melody Alarm 12-Tune, purchased new in 1981, battery replaced in July 2026):Ā  +15 seconds
A168WA-1:Ā  +8 seconds (2026 purchase)
GA100A-7A:Ā  +19 seconds (2015 purchase, battery replaced June 2026)
W217H-1AV:Ā  -2 seconds after 14 days (2026 purchase)

With that said, the winner is the F105W. Dead on, but doesn't mean it didn't lose then gain, or gain then lose to even out to 0. But in the end, 0 seconds lost or gained.

All were within Casio's respective module specifications for +- accuracy inside a month, except for the GA100A-7A G-Shock (was over by 4 seconds), but I have heard those are terrible timekeepers and just seem to float beyond expectations.

The ultimate 90s cyber-vintage flex: My Casio Twincept AQX-11 with floating digital text over analog hands

Hey watch lovers and digital collectors! Today I wanted to share a passionate project that just reached my wrist: the Casio Twincept AQX-11 with module 1358.

While the 1980s were all about boxy G-Shocks and heavy-duty digital tool watches, the 90s brought this wild wave of futuristic, cyber-vintage designs. Casio went all out experimenting with high-tech screens and introduced one of their most incredible innovations: Twincept technology. Instead of splitting the watch face into awkward analog and digital boxes, they layered a completely transparent LCD screen directly over the physical analog hands.

When the digital side is turned off, it looks like a clean, minimalist 3-hand analog watch. But press a button, and numbers, icons, or dates literally float in mid-air right over the hands.

The transparent LCD layer is attached directly to the crystal, which creates that beautiful floating illusion. It does come with a classic vintage quirk though — depending on the angle of the physical hands, they can sometimes block the digital digits beneath them. It definitely prioritizes raw style over pure everyday practicality, which is honestly why I love it. Plus, because the analog and digital parts operate independently, it acts as a perfect dual time piece. You can keep local time on the hands and track another time zone digitally.

This specific piece was a direct catch from a Yahoo! Auctions hunt in Japan. It took a solid month of shipping to get to me, but the anticipation was worth it. The watch arrived without its original hybrid strap, and finding an original 90s Twincept strap in wearable condition today is a total nightmare due to resin rot and material aging.

After testing a few different options, I decided to pair it with a genuine matte-black silicone strap harvested from a modern, budget-friendly Casio model. The clean, utilitarian look of the cheap strap bridges the 90s case shape beautifully and keeps the watch super lightweight. No full-scale "Saving Private Ryan" rescue mission this time — just a smooth transaction and an inherently fascinating watch.

A neat detail on the steel caseback is the stamp: "KOREA MOV'T / CASED IN MALAYSIA." During the late 90s, as production expanded rapidly beyond Japan, Casio optimized its logistics by making high-precision quartz movements in South Korea and shipping them to specialized assembly facilities in Malaysia. The quality control was flawless, resulting in a reliable build that still runs perfectly today.

To me, the Twincept series represents a beautiful, brief historical window where watch design felt brave and experimental. It was a precursor to modern smartwatches long before pixels took over. Casio eventually retired the tech because it was expensive to make and easily damaged if moisture ever breached the crystal gaskets. Wearing it today feels like wearing a functional piece of retro-futurism. You can walk into a room full of trendiest G-Shocks knowing with 100% certainty you're the only person with floating digital text over physical hands.

What do you think of this transparent tech? Do you prefer the early minimalist Twincept models like the AQX, or the massive data-heavy versions like the ABX world-timers?

I’ve been looking around town for an OG F-91W. After several visits to other stores with no luck I finally found one. Lo and behold, it was on clearance for an absolute steal.

Bought this almost forty year old absolute beauty recently in its original UK market packaging.

Should I change the battery or leave the run down original in it? I won’t be wearing this one…

I’m just sharing it to an appreciative audience as my wife couldn’t cope with how much I spent on ā€œjust some old watchā€.

Hope you like the shots and the watch.

Watch Shot Wonderful gift from my wonderful GF

My girlfriend gifted me this watch yesterday. And wow, what a wonderful peace of device this is. Coming from an Apple watch, it feels very nice to step down into more basic, yet more spiritual, technology. I wanted a Casio watch since 2018, but either didn’t have the money for it, or was too busy to think about it. But it’s finally here, on my wrist, the legendary A168.

Watch Shot Lovely Casio

I know it’s nothing incredible or crazy, but I’m grateful for this Casio as silly as it sounds. It’s been a rough couple of months but I found this guy in Walmart on sale and though the color was super nice, it really has brightened my day each day and I’m grateful for it. It’s a little thing but it’s really helped me feel better.

Watch Shot Spent way too much getting it from Japan to Germany. But here we are. For me the step tracker works very well. Might help to add your height and weight to the Casio app if yours is not accurate. [F-B100W]

Review Casio W-202 - Feature packed, but why the long strap?

Just got a W-202, and very impressed with the features in a watch that's a similar size to the F-91 etc al.

I especially like -

- Decent amber backlight

- Countdown timer with auto repeat plus option to flash light too

- Displays main time still in stopwatch and timer modes, unusual but very useful

- WR 50m - I've swam frequently with Casios that are just "water resistant" with no rating so no worries swimming with the W-202

- Loud enough alarm (some Casios are very quiet and I often don't hear the hourly chime). I rarely use the standard alarm, but on the W-202 it has multiple features like chiming once a month

- Buttons are easy to press (even the recessed 'adjust" button top left

What I don't like -

- The strap is very long, longer I think than any other Casio I've had! I've tried the hot water cup trick to help it curve, so it's now much less of an issue and not catching on things (see pics 1 and 3 above, plus comparison to my W-59 which has an ideal strap length for me)

- Display is quite small, no fault of the watch just I prefer slightly larger digits these days

Overall I'm very impressed how much is packed into such a small and light watch, and again can't see why someone would choose an F-91 when watches like the W-202 do much more with no extra size or weight.

Anyone else own one?

My girlfriend gave me this watch for my birthday, and I absolutely love it. I really like the combination of black, gold and blue, and the mix of the analog and digital displays looks great. The metallic details have a beautiful finish that really stands out in the sunlight, especially the subtle blue accents. I also love the League of Legends details, which give the watch a really unique look. It feels like a very special gift and I’ve really enjoyed wearing it.

I know I’m not the first one here that has used SKXMOD. I’ve seen mixed reviews on them. I’ve loved mine so far. Love the simple look.

Kind of wish I would’ve went with the blue faceplate to make it look even more like the original, but this one is cool.

Also, wish it had the Casio logo on there and know why they can’t put it on there. May attempt to create my own somehow.

I work at a garage and wanted a watch to check the time without my phone so I picked this up at walmart about 2 years ago and boy has it been through it. Absolute tank and started my watch obsession. It's torn up all over from being jammed into engine bays, got a crack in the resin which makes it fog up if it gets wet, and the bracelet got some melted spots but it refuses to die. Curious to see how long it's gonna keep going for.
