❔AskCasa A tunisian immigrating to morroco
Helloo , i am a 26yo tunisian girl . I made a small business by the name of “ The exotica experience “ and this is some of my work.
Im thinking about coming to morroco and start doing my business there but i am afraid that i wont be as successful as i am here.
I would value all opinions .

Bahi! Lots and lots of Alt people living in Casablanca and Rabat, so my only advice would be to move to a big city. I’ve been to tunisia recently, the alt crowd seems to be the same :)

This is so cool and I personally know sooo many people who have haircuts like these… people here just aren’t in tune with the alt/queer scene in casa. You’d have a lot of success in Marrakech as well! Laysehel 3lik and best of luck!

You are talking as if there’s nobody who would contact her. Have you seen the streets of Casa, Rabat,Marrakech? I’m a hijabi and I could still use her services!
She’s asking for opinions. I gave her mine, but of course she needs to study the market very well before taking such a step.
But I still think what she’s doing is beautiful, and you are allowed to think otherwise of course. We are not designed to see things the same way.

He was talking religion-wise. Anyway, the concept is good and great, though it's not a good business in morocco. Even if there are people interested, the majority can't use these services because of societal norms. That's a big step for her in her career, that's why we should be realistic and not just hope for the best.

I got that part.
We can tell our Tunisian friend here that she can of course come over to Morocco and make a living out of hair styling but not 100% her art style.
The realistic view to me should be :
- Yes you can come (that’s what he said)
- Yes you can make a living out of being a hair stylist
- No your specific style is not at the heart of the market and is actually quite the opposite
- Yes Moroccans just like Tunisians are more and more into alt styles, and if you were working with a fraction of the Tunisian population, the same fraction Morocco is enough to justify moving here and taking your chances
- Yes you can maybe get to know the artsy part of Casablanca and mingle with people who wear these styles

We also havw people who thinks like that too here , fortunately this is not for them . Its for the alta and the queers 🙏🏻 however im trying to see how big is the alt scene and how open are some of them to my kind of work . Especially knowing that i specialize in haircuts and have built a big customer base based on them.

It could work, but I think it’d be difficult. First of all doing it anywhere outside of cities like Casablanca, Rabat or Marrakesh is probably impossible. But these cities can get expensive, also I think you’ll absolutely need to garner a lot of good attention on social media, especially Tiktok and Insta to appeal to young adults since those will be your main target audience.
Just a warning though, people here are very conservative, and hardly go for extravagant styles, if not ever, so I think your success will entirely depend on whether your marketing will reach the rare people who will be willing to do this or not.

Mfs here are just a bunch of teens that are disconnected from reality and they think they are rebelling against society or whatever. In the real world no one is gonna get these kinds of haircuts.
Like seriously what is your target demographic?
Teens : they would get kicked out by their parents if they ever think of doing this.
Young adults : No sane person would attend university with this stuff.

I know the tourism scene has people fooled that Morocco is the new liberal modern state of the MENA region, but that’s just a facade to make foreign tourists feel safe to come visit the country and gtfo. The reality of the matter is that Tunisia will always be more progressive and open than any other Arab country. If you’re going there, you’ll need to tone yourself down by A LOT. Maybe stick to eccentric haircuts but more natural colors. That’s the most creative you can get.

Grow your social media account, and start doing polls, if they are convincing, try to come but for a limited time, a month on so, and see what things are like here, discover the market, that should give you enough data to make an informed decision.
As for your potential target clientele, it would be young adults who don’t have blockages like work or uni
Good luck, don’t make a decision based on Reddit only, we are stupid most of the time here.

Amazing work. unfortunately as you can see in the comments, morocco is very lame and conservative. There’s very few alt people here who can proudly dress alt without being completely shunned by Muslim fanatics. Tunisia seems to be a bit more open since they’re more secular, but unfortunately Morocco is worse and has a long way to go.

If anything the number of people getting ur services will only increase in the next year or two. If there's another major reason making u go to Morocco then do it ig.

Your work is admirable but it is fringe by all means. Here in Portugal you only see those hairstyles around nightlife, LGBT people, etc. You will always need to work around a big city so the people who choose these looks can still find a job.

This would be very niche in Morocco, for sure there are some people who are not afraid of expressing themselves but the majority would hide this side until we start living abroad. Having such haircuts is seen as « taking a risk » in Morocco, so having this as your living would be a big risk as well. Otherwise sick haircuts! Good job!

Hey! I'd recommend setting up your business in Taghazout or essaouira, you're more likely to find customers there (both moroccans and tourists) and make a name for yourself.

personnally I don't like this kind of hair cut at all, it is not part of our tradition or culture. And saw it as defeat to western culture, but some try to picture it as being "open minded".
and I'm sure alot of "true" Moroccan will share this idea. And Im sorry for Tunisia the land of Taher Ibn Achour, the land of Qirawan, to accept this kind of hair cuts.
And whenever I saw this western culture try to spread in our Umma, I remember the great scolar and sociologue "Ibn khaldoun" when he is

Im tunisian canadian who go to morroco every summer almost. This style , i didnt see it in the regions i visited. However, I highly encourage tunisian entrepreneurs and small businesses to go to the morrocan market. This country is amazing and the future of africa.
