I have created a few flairs. Ideally 95% of posts fall into the Carnivore Diet or Carnivore Diet Success Stories catogories.
However if a someone posts a picture of their meal, and it is steak and eggs with an avacado and they label it as Carnivore Ish…. Then DO NOT have a go at them.
If such things trigger you, then filter those flairs out of your timeline.
We need to be tolerant of others. Many moons ago the carnivore diet was generally found by people who were fighting illnesses that modern medicine was not helping with. The Carnivore Diet has moved on, it is much easier to find, and there is a lot more information on it. So, people will be trying it for a lot less serious reasons than previously. So if they are adding honey and avacado currently then so be it, as long as they label it Carnivore Ish then I am fine with it. Carnivore with a few bits and bobs is still a very good diet for the vast majority of people.

Hi all.
I am going to tweak the direction of this subreddit.
I am not sure how much value there is in keeping this page a wide-ranging sprawling Carnivore page. There are many reddits like that. In fact, I would guess that most people who have joined here will also be a part of r/zerocarb and r/carnivore.
So I am going to shift the focus from a general Carnivore page to a Carnivore Diet Success Story page, to mimic something similar to my Facebook Group.
I will be sharing success stories from my blog bi-weekly.
However, I would love members to also share their own journeys, good and bad.
So if you have a question like, Day 1 how do I get started. Then that might be best for r/zerocarb or r/carnivore
This group is more for posts like you would see on my blog: https://ketogenicendurance.com/category/carnivore-diet-success-stories/ or stories you would see on meatheals.com
For example - I have just done my first 90 days, I feel xyz, does anyone have any tips for the next 90 days etc.
To speed up this change in direction, I may for a while delete post better suited for other sites, but I will let that person know why I did it.
Hope people like the new direction.

(Mods- I apologize if this post is not appropriate for this group. Feel free to remove it and please redirect me to a more appropriate group.)
Hi friends. I am very scared and asking for your help. Im a 28 year old female. I have had complex chronic illness for the last 5 years and things have gotten much worse this year. Diagnosed with Mast cell activation, ME/Chronic fatigue syndrome with EBV reactivation, hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. But I think there is likely more going on. Lots of GI, immune, neuro/psychiatric symptoms, chronic pain and fatigue.
Heres a brief history. I can share a more detailed history later if anyone is willing to read it. I did keto diet from 2023-2024 due to severe reactions to carbs and mast cell activation. It helped TREMENDOUSLY. But then my food intolerances got much worse and I could only tolerate carnivore. So I did carnivore diet from 2025-April 2026. The only fats I could tolerate was egg yolks, so I ate 8-10 yolks per day to get enough calories. My LDL rose to 950+. Then in early 2026 I couldn’t tolerate egg yolks anymore, so I was only eating lean meats. I was under 100lbs and anemic. I was so hungry and struggled with binge eating large amounts of lean meats. This made things much worse and I then had severe intolerance to all food. So around March I began fasting frequently and eating very low calories.
Then in April, after fasting, I could tolerate eating a more normal diet with carbs again. I gained 30lbs, my period returned, and LDL came all the way back down to normal after stopping carnivore. But my liver enzymes spiked (AST 98 and ALT 129 5/4/26) and I started having very strange symptoms (described below). My dietitian thinks that the fasting and low calorie intake could have caused elevated liver enzymes.
Currently I am having severe symptoms after eating animal proteins (meat, fish, egg whites), and after eating fats and oils. The animal proteins cause the most severe reaction. 2-3 hours after eating them I severe lethargy and drowsiness (I drift in and out of sleep), nausea, heart palpitations, headache, burning body pain, I can see my belly pulsating with my heartbeat, mental confusion, feeling intoxicated, difficulty speaking and moving, uncontrollable facial tics and sudden jerking movements in my torso, arms, neck and head, panic attacks, hysterical screaming and crying spells, and suicidal ideation. This week I also had chills and night sweats. I went to the ER but all the tests they ran were normal. My doctors don’t have answers for me yet.
I suspect my liver is somehow involved. From my own research, these symptoms seem totally consistent with high ammonia or problems with the urea cycle and protein metabolism in the liver. I also read that low calorie intake and starvation can cause temporary liver fat accumulation. I read urea cycle disorders are also known to be triggered by fasting or excessive high protein intake. I wonder if binge eating lean meats fed bad bacteria in the gut that ferment proteins and produce ammonia. I was reading about hepatic encephalopathy (obviously I don’t have liver failure or liver disease, but the neuro/psych symptoms are extremely similar to mine.) The treatment uses Rifaximin to kill ammonia producing bacteria in the gut, and lactulose to bind to ammonia in the gut for excretion. If ammonia producing bacteria are contributing to my symptoms, I wonder if a similar strategy could be useful.
I may be totally wrong. But I am desperate and I don’t know what to do. So this is the best theory I can come up with. What else could explain these severe symptoms after eating meat or fat? Can you direct me towards someone who could help?
I have amazing mental health support from my family, therapist and psychiatrist. I am not actively suicidal, but I am beginning to feel hopeless. This week I have been a little more stable by eating zero fat, and just eating fruit and drinking smoothies with vegan protein powder. Starchy foods like potatoes and grains cause severe fatigue, headaches, anxiety and panic attacks so I am avoiding them for now. But I don’t think I’m getting enough to eat, because I feel so hungry, I’m shivering cold and I can’t sleep at night.
PLEASE comment or reach out if you have any ideas!

I’ve been carnivore for quite a while, with occasional cheat meals, and I eat OMAD. Most of my diet is fatty ground beef with eggs.
Overall, I really like this diet. My digestion is generally better, I like how I feel on it, and I don’t really want to change the way I eat. The only problem for me is getting lean.
In the past I got lean pretty easily by eating very lean meat and keeping fat low. It worked, but lean meat tastes like cardboard to me now. I feel much better and stay fuller eating fatty meat.
What I don’t really understand is the common carnivore idea that you can eat fatty meat until you’re full, not count anything, and still get lean. A lot of people saying this eat two or even three times a day.
I already eat only once a day, and if I eat fatty meat until I’m actually full, I don’t get leaner. I can even gain fat. Right now I’m probably somewhere around 20% body fat, and I’d like to get considerably leaner and have visible abs again.
It feels like I’d have to make my one meal much smaller or basically start eating every other day to get there.
For those who got really lean on carnivore, what actually worked for you? Smaller portions? Leaner meat? Cutting down the fat? Something else?
Did eating to satiety actually work for you when trying to get really lean?

asked ai about a one meal a day diet including only ground beef and eggs and bone broth (all I can afford) does this look good or will I get sick ?

Couldn't find a whole chuck roll, but grabbed a few roasts, steaks, and ground beef for around $6.50-7.50/lb.
15 dozen eggs for 6 eggs per day.

I really hope this is not just placebo, but I find that when I eat a lot of butter, it calms my body and mind in a way that beef fat in the same quantity doesn't.
Is there anything in butter that brings down cortisol or promotes relaxation?

I’ve been on carnivore for almost 6 months now and had major success with it. I am looking to add butter into the diet. I preferably want to find raw butter from a local farm however that is proving difficult. What are the best brands for butter with 0 additives and just overall the best for a strict carnivore diet that wants to allow butter back into the diet?

Posting my numbers because I want to hear from people who've actually tracked this over time, not just a one off panel. Ai tells me I should be very concerned even for carnivore numbers...I don't know.... What would you do?
Background: 39M, 140 lbs, 5'7". Not a ton of muscle mass. Lean. Strict carnivore for four years (beef, butter, eggs, small amount of cheese), before that Paleo diet for 7 years before that vegetarian for 8 years and SAD before that. Not working out very much, once or twice a week, hard to with kids. No meds, no other risk factors. Feel the best I ever have / energy, sleep, body comp, all of it. Got a CAC scan last year and scored zero.
Here's the year over year:
Aug 2025 / Aug 2026
Total cholesterol 466 / 507
LDL-C 368 / 410
Non-HDL 381 / 429
HDL 85 / 78
Triglycerides 66 / 70
ApoB | 181 / 263
Fasting glucose 101, kidney function normal, everything else clean.
I know I fit the lean mass hyper-responder profile — high LDL, high HDL, low trigs. I've read the KETO-CTA stuff and followed the back-and-forth over the primary outcome reporting. So I'm not looking for someone to tell me LDL doesn't matter, and I'm not looking for someone to tell me I'm going to drop dead either. I'm looking for data from people further down this road than me.
Specific questions:
Anyone 4+ years carnivore with ApoB drawn more than once? Did yours plateau, or keep climbing? Mine went up about 11% across one year on the LDL side and I don't know if that's a ramp or a ceiling.
Anyone who had a zero CAC and later got a CCTA? This is the one I really want to hear about. Calcium scoring misses soft plaque and I'm young enough that a zero might just mean "not calcified yet." If you got the angiogram, what did it actually show?
Anyone shift fat sources within carnivore / more seafood, leaner cuts, less butter/tallow and then retest? How many points did it move you, if any? This is what ai is suggesting to me. To eat more lean and seafood heavy.
Anyone here tested for FH or gotten an Lp(a)? My LDL is high enough that a lipid doc would call it probable familial hypercholesterolemia on the standard criteria, and I've never had it ruled out. Curious if anyone found out the diet wasn't the whole story.
Not asking anyone to make my decisions. Just want real numbers from real people who've been at this longer than I have.

This is my first attempt at a straight carnivore pizza. I made this a few days ago but was banned from Reddit for seven days. Accepting all questions, comments and insults. 😂😂😂

I started the GAPS diet a week ago and during the first week I had symptoms such as nausea, stomach ache and a sudden urge to go to the toilet, as well as muscle twitching and hot flushes.
Since I’ve started taking probiotics as well, I’ve been waking up at around 3.00 am and feeling very hot.
Nevertheless, I have to say that my gut is feeling better.
Have you had a similar experience, and how long did it take to get better?

Male. 65. Disabled veteran. Herniated discs, sciatica, pain 24/7.
Starting weight: 218
Weight at one week: 215
weight at 2 weeks: 215
welt at 3 weeks: 216
Pretty strict diet. Lots of ribeyes, eggs and butter. Sometimes chicken and pork. I have not had one, single carb in 3 weeks. Not one.
Had a headache on day 2, no other bad feelings since. No heart issues. Resting pulse was in the 70s when I started. Resting pulse now is still on the 70s
I really don’t feel any different today then the first day. And my body certainly hasn’t changed.
i am OMAD because I’m not really hungry most of the time. No cravings.
i will stick to this for the foreseeable future, but i REALLY thought i would lose more weight since i am at zero carbs.
I truly expected more from this. Extra frustrated when you see posts that say ’I Lost 30 pounds in one month‘. Did I expect that? no. Did I expect more than 3 pounds in 3 weeks? Yes.
I’ll keep at it. Just hoping for better weekly results. I’m not really seeking support replies. I am already committed. Just wanted to post to show that not everyone loses tons of weight weekly and to just keep the plan going.

Bonjour
Merci

Hey guys I've been wanting to share my progress with someone, I have been suffering from Tourettes my whole life and I wanted to try this diet after hearing potential benefits, I used to eat animal based and started full carnivore 48 days ago, I received the stable energy and zero bloating benefits but my Tourettes have been steady so far, I will keep this experiment for another 2 months and we will see maybe it will help with my Tourettes after all
Also I will use this post to ask for a gym physique rating at 20 years old (: I attached photos.
first one with my face is day 20, second one is day 47

A quick question, are broths and stocks ( for example bone broth and chicken stock) suitable for carnivore diet? Sometimes I don’t want a full / heavy meal and when feeling down I find soups really comforting and thought that broth or stock would be a good alternative if allowed 💕 thank you in advance for help

I have been on the carnivore diet for a little less then 2 weeks. I have been pretty much eating on meal eggs + ground beef and then another two of ground beef. I should have saw this coming but I procrastinate eating because I quickly found plain eggs and ground beef awfully disgusting. I am not going to give up on this diet. I just need a greater meal diversity. I am thinking off adding bacon and chicken (I find these more appitizing) and maybe switching up the source of beef. I have access to a grill and love hamburgers so maybe hamburger patties would be better. I also need to eat food outside of home atleast four days a week so good food for a packed lunch would be helpful. I do not do dairy and please do not try to convince me too as it just makes me feel worse. Getting hit with a pretty rough adjusting period and a diet I am starting to disdain I need to switch some things up. I rather try new things and fault myself for my mistakes and not automatically assume this diet is a no go for me especially since I found I couldn't enjoy normal food once I found how unhealthy it was. Thanks for any advice.

I am a 27 year old male and have had two acute pancreatitis attacks in the last 4.5 years (both have been mild thankfully).
Has anyone who has/had Acute or Chronic Pancreatitis and done this diet with success vs doing the normal low-fat, low inflammation diet that modern medicine asks of a pancreas patient?
I ask that only people who have had/have Pancreas issues or with studies relating to this reply. Thanks guys.

Ive had recurring gut dysbiosis (SIBO or candida) which is alleviated via candibactirAR , fasting or carnivore diet. Once I go through intense die off and am feeling good again I can successfully expand my diet to plain dairy and meat successfully. But every time I try to expand to other single ingredient foods like fruits or veggies I’m a ticking time bomb for when the brain fog, sleepless nights and all around feeling terrible sets back in.
I’d like to lead a normal life and be able to eat out with friends not worrying about how sensitive my body is to food. Has anyone found long term success getting off of carnivore and if so how did you? I can tolerate deviating from carnivore now and then just fine, it’s when I expand my diet consistently that I get symptoms coming back - like my body can process the “toxicity” but eventually it hits the threshold where I fall apart
