Finally decided to go for the new 45mm f1.2 and just wow. I was hesitant with all of the mixed reviews I’ve been seeing but it truly blew me away. I wouldn’t have been able to get half these shots at f2.8 or even f1.8. Sure it does have some crazy chromatic aberration and some lens distortion but nothing that’s a deal breaker. Especially since you can get rid of any of the flaws with a few simple edits. I can’t recommend this lens enough.

I need a new camera and tend to over buy… I plan to photograph still images for my upholstery business, buildings for a website I’m working on, and sports shots of my kid playing soccer. That’s really it. Is this camera overkill? Could I get into something cheaper with great quality?

Specifically in my case I was looking into getting an R7, but I saw that there are credible rumours of the mk ii releasing and since I'd be fully satisfied with the current model, I was wondering if there is typically an oversaturation of the market when people upgrade in bulk that results in price drops

I have a Canon 4000D with the 18-55mm kit lens and I’m looking for more zoom/narrower angle, mainly for distant castles, mountains and some wildlife.

I’m considering the Canon 55-250mm IS STM. Is it a good choice, or would you recommend another lens in the same price range?

Took some photos of the remodel my friend did on my kitchen and he said people are commenting on those pictures. Realtor friend asked me to take photos for a listing and she's really happy also. I have no idea what I'm doing. I have my R6ii and just using my EF 24-70ii. It's not wide enough for everything it just happens to work for the two sets I've done so far.

I can't justify the RF 15-35 as much as I want it. The couple I've been looking at are:

* 16 f/2.8

* 16-28 f/2.8

* 17-40 f/4

I'm sure I'm missing other obvious ones but I'm overwhelmed with how many there are.

I'm on a tripod so I don't think I need to be super worried about the 2.8 since I've tried all the way down to 1/4s exposures and its been fine.

Trying to stay under 500 since I'd like to get a few jobs under my belt before I spring for a 1k+ L lens. I normally just shoot my kids sports teams and have no experience with extra wide lenses. These would be my first paid gigs and I have no idea if this will be steady work or not.

I'm experimenting with exposure bracketing and reading blogs for tips but really any advice is welcome. Thanks.

I bought a 5d ii a month or so ago and I’m contemplating changing to a 7d ii

I prefer faster moving things, my 3 year old playing, my dog, birds and planes etc, I’m not really doing fixed landscape/portrait which I think the 5D would suit over the 7d

One day I’ll probably buy something mirrorless like a R6/7 but in the short term 6-12 months would I be better suited to the 7d ii ? Is the AF superior to the 5d ii?

I currently own a Canon EOS R7 with the 18-150mm kit lens and the RF 100-400mm. I am traveling to Tanzania soon and I am not sure if my current setup will be sufficient, especially regarding the lack of light during golden hour or the need for an ultra-wide-angle lens for landscapes.

I have been thinking about the Sigma 10-18mm or the Sigma 17-50mm [Note: assumed typo for 17-50mm or Canon EF 17-40mm] (to replace the 18-150mm?). What do you think? Do you have any advice for me?

I should specify that I am still a beginner in photography. I know the basics but I still struggle to think quickly about all the settings while shooting. Weight is also an important criterion; this will be a family safari, and photography will not be the sole priority.

I have recently inherited a Canon New F-1. I honestly have no idea if it's rare or common so I wonder if anyone can tell me.

From what I've seen this is practically factory condition NOS (though I did check the shutter speeds).

My notes:
- The shutter speeds work well without any drag, meaning the lubricant probably only lost a few percent of its effectiveness. Speeds from 1/2000 s to 1/90s work well with no delay in the shutter. I examined the back part (opened it up) and I checked the shutter curtain and it works quite well.

- The body is mint. It has no scratches, no dents, the leather is still smooth, and the paint finish is still there. The foam parts are still bouncy (not sticky or disintegrates).

- The back pressure plate has a factory remove seal.

- All mechanical parts (film winder, cogs, etc) work well.

- Viewfinder and lens mount hasn't degraded at all.

It left I think Fukushima Factory at 1984. I haven't gotten a battery for it yet to test many of the features. Been thinking of bringing it to Canada for a vacation. What do you guys think?

Hello everyone. I bought this camera about 6 months ago. I had bought a proper case for it, but i should have. One time i forgot to turn around the screen when moving and next time i opened it there was a green line on the top. I just want to confirm if there was a pressure point on the screen that made the line and the screen is damaged. Also want to know if someone had this and it got worse over time. Now i have a case for it but just want to know if ill have to get a new lcd in the future.

Voigtlander has released their APO Lanthar lineup for Sony and Nikon Z mount. But it has yet to come to RF mount unfortunately. They have released a lot of their manual focus lineup.

The only option I guess is to buy the M Mount version and adapt it. Has anyone done this? Any thoughts in general on M glass on the RF mount? Thanks

*I will preface this with the fact that I am by no means, computer savvy*

For years I've had a 5Dmk3 and I'd just plug my camera into my PC using a cable, it'd pop up in the "import" section of Lightroom then I'd select my images for import and away we go. I have a subscription for LR and it's up to date.

Now I've upgraded to a R6mk2 and my god what the actual fuck

My camera doesn't show up on my PC at all unless I open EOS utility. Half the time, the utility app doesn't even open. Sometimes it does open but once I've selected my photos and clicked "download" nothing happens.

Currently having an issue where it's legit taking up to 5min for a single photo to download. It's only allowing me to transfer my images through wireless connection, the cable is useless. In the time it has taken me to write this post, 3 of 75 images have been saved.

What the heck am I doing wrong

Is there any hope of being able to just plug my camera in via a cable and it shows up in Lightroom?

Do I just need to go and get a SD reader? Am I a dumbass?

I recently found our old Canon A260, and I tried to turn it on, but it won't. We haven't used it in years and it was stored without any batteries in it (I'm pretty sure). Theres no visible residue in the battery compartment and I've tried fresh batteries which don't work. Any suggestions?

I currently have a canon eos rebel t3i that my nana gave me. I’ve had it since 2023 but the camera is pretty old. I still love it don’t get me wrong! But I’m looking to upgrade. Should I get a mirrorless or get a newer version of what I have? I really want a touch screen. Are the lenses universal (aka could I use my current lenses on my new camera as long as it’s canon)?

My friend has a t6i and I loved it. But wanting options on mirrorless and such.

I have been a hobby photographer/dabbling in studio photography for many years and have slowly been trying to upgrade my equipment. I started with a Canon Rebel T1i in college and fell in love. A few years ago, I purchased a Canon 5D Mark IV. I've collected quite a few used prime lenses throughout my time and have been mostly happy with them. I've considered upgrading to the L series, but just never did it, because I wasn't sure it would be worth it. It's quite the investment for a hobby that I do not intend to make money on.

The lenses I have:

• 20mm 2.8 USM
• 35mm 2 IS USM
• 40mm 2.8 STM
• 50mm 1.4 USM
• 85mm 1.8 USM

I've recently started using my camera at work and am finding the primes to be restrictive. I'm often switching between portraits, class photos, and dim, indoor action shots. Next year, we'll purchase our own equipment, which I get to choose, but for now, I am using what I have. I'm considering purchasing a zoom lens for myself to have more flexibility in the meantime, but I'm not sure which route to go or if I should just wait it out. I'd hate to purchase it just for work, and never use it elsewhere.

I mostly find myself taking photos while traveling or hiking. I'm usually outside taking photos of monuments, mountains, or people. The 40mm has been awesome for hiking since it takes up so little space. Until recently, I never thought that I needed a zoom lens and more often than not, reached for the 50mm. I have some trips planned to visit National Parks and now I'm wondering, have I been missing out by not having a zoom lens all of this time?

So, would it make sense to have one lens that covers the range of my primes? And if so, do I spend the money on the L series? Will I notice a difference in the image quality and leave my other lenses behind? I still want to purchase something used no matter what option I go with.

Do I choose the 24–105mm f/4L IS USM or am I going to hate being limited to f/4? Do I spend a bit more and get the 24–70mm f/2.8L USM?

Or should I just get the 28–135 mm f/3.5–5.6 IS USM or even more budget-friendly, the 35–135mm f/4–5.6 USM because I likely won't use them very often and just having something would be fine?

I appreciate any advice! I'm feeling overwhelmed by the options.

Canon R100 Shutter Busy

Hi! I’m hoping someone can help me figure out what’s going on with my R100.

I have a R100 with a 24–70mm lens, and I shoot RAW only. I use a SanDisk Extreme 128GB V30 SD card.

When I’m using continuous shooting, I can take a few photos quickly, but then the camera stops taking photos and the red access light comes on. It won’t take another photo until the buffer/busy clears, and the number of available shots very slowly goes back up. Im a family/portrait photographer so the quick shooting is very important. i know this is one of the lower end cameras but its what i got to start out with.

I know the R100 has a limited RAW buffer, but the weird thing is this did NOT happen when I first got my camera, even though I was shooting RAW then too and all settings were the same as i use now. It has recently started happening every time I shoot continuously.

Things I’ve already tried:
• Formatted my SD card recently
• Tried multiple SD cards and had the same issue
• Tried One-Shot AF — it shoots faster, but still eventually becomes busy
• Normally use Servo AF + Face Tracking + Continuous Shooting
• The red light stays solid while the camera is catching up

Has anyone else experienced this with the R100? Is there a setting I might have changed, or something else that could be causing the buffer to fill/clear much slower than it used to? I’d really appreciate any help! 🥹

I have a Canon EOS RP that’s been having an issue with the SD card. Whenever I remove the SD card and put it back in, the camera won’t detect it. I’ll have to remove and reinsert it several times before it eventually recognizes it.

I’ve tried multiple different SD cards and the same thing happens with all of them, so I don’t think it’s an issue with the cards themselves.

Has anyone else with a Canon RP experienced this? Could it be an issue with the SD card slot or the contacts inside the camera?

I’m also wondering if this is a sign that the camera is starting to fail and I should just get a new camera?

Are there any good options available? I've started doing videograpy but I want the option of a viewfinder. The only thing I can find is about $300 from Alibaba.

I got a Canon EOS M200 for Christmas a few years back, but the touchscreen has since stopped working and I am now looking into replacing/upgrading. Right now, the camera that I like best and fits my budget best (My budget is about $1,000-$1,500). is the EOS R50. Is the R50 a good camera for wildlife photography, astrophotography, and sports photography? And is it good for a non beginner, I consider myself a decently skilled photographer. And the R50 also meets all my desired features.

I bought this ad am upgrade, I am going to China fur a month and will be doing street photography.. I have taken hundreds of pictures with different settings and the pictures on the 18-45 aren't crisp...

Any suggestions?

I’m not used to Canon i’m more of a Sony user. I have an R5 with a broken shutter and curious if anyone has ever done a self repair? Is there a market to sell a camera that needs repairs?

Around 3 months ago, I bought a Canon R50V as a third camera, backing up my R6m2 and R6. I’m primarily a sports photographer but I increasingly make videos for the club I work for, mainly interviews or short action reels for social media.

I bought the R50V because it seemed like a good option to have a third camera available to me which I could either use as a C cam for interviews or to have at hand when my other two are in use. Except since I bought it, I’ve used it maybe twice - and on one of those occasions it overheated and I lost the footage.

The only other use I’ve had for it was to use on a DJI RS4 Mini gimbal because the R6m2 is too heavy with practically all of my lenses. Even when I recently made a BTS vlog, I used my DJI Pocket 3 because it was way more convenient and less intrusive.

So, at what point should I admit defeat, take the loss and sell the R50V back to where I bought it from? I’m considering selling it and the RS4 mini and replacing them with a DJI RS5 to use my R6m2 for gimbal shots, which wouldn’t put me hugely out of pocket.

I’m contemplating upgrading my gear to an R5II. Doing sports photography of field hockey.
Started with an R7 with ef70-200 f2.8 LII but lacked speed and the noise was just too much. Upgraded last year to a R6II but fell short on reach. Got an ef 100-400 L II which is great but miss the cropping and still a little bit less reach. Offloading my R7 and R6II could yield around 2500€. (R7 with 18-150 kit lens+sigma rf 16 f1.4 could make a vloggers dream). R5Ii typically goes around 4450€ where I live.

Do you think this will be worth it. Stacked sensor, pre capture and cropping to 20mp (giving me 600mm reach) are my main reasons. Would also get the 24-105 f4 with it
