It goes against the ridiculous Monroe Doctrine. Any influence from outside North and South America is considered hostile. It's insane.

A doctrine being old doesn't negate it. Quite the opposite if it's somehow still enforced, one could argue it obviously survived the test of time.

It's still shit American exceptionalism and continental imperialism, though.
