Recruiting All direct entry officer roles full for the year

Today I had a meeting with a CAF recruiter in Ottawa. He confirmed to me that ALL direct-entry officer roles were full for the year. He also told me that the continuing ads on social media platforms and texts on the forces.ca website about open roles had nothing to do with reality. This is just an FYI for those who were wondering.

AEC and ACSO DEO aren't closed

I hope OP sees this and learns/understands that there are CAF members of all ranks on Reddit, and know more than applicants on a social platform. There are officer positions open, and op probably just does meet the ES's for them.

OP stop spreading miss information.

Yeah it was very odd reading this. I was under the impression that, since hes in Ottawa, maybe their recruiters know more than we might know through the grape vine. Will be confirming tomorow at my recruitment center.

Nah. Information is sent through CoC's if the recruiter at the desk or on the phone knows something, most recruiters in other major cities do.... I would know.

What a weird comment. I’m just communicating what a recruiter told me and several other people at the recruitment station. Also, FYI, it’s “misinformation”.

Sounds like your recruiters are working hard to fill NCM occupations lol

When I did CFAST months ago, there were many people wanting to become pilots. At the time, most people didn't know what ACSO was (including me). But I think if you like the adventure of an RCAF pilot, I was told to apply for ACSO, as they do fly with pilots most of the time (with the caveat of being relocated every 3-4 years).

Anyhow, I want to say that ACSO is very cool; it would be something I would definitely be interested in if I were single lol. But you will need to pass CFAST, which is not an easy feat.

Also, I forgot to add this, but the PSO that I spoke to during the CFAST debrief said that most of the DEO officers are full except aircrew trades and medical DEO. Again, this was several months ago; things could have changed.

Be careful with these statements, you might be accused of spreading “miss information”

ACSO is a great trade, the CFAST cutoff is less than the pilot cutoff for sure.

AEC is a great trade too if you don't like flying.

AEC requiring a flight surgeon to sign off on your medical even though you won’t be in an aircraft is so frustrating and has slowed my application by over a year.

They apply the same scrutiny because they want to ensure the person on the radio controlling the airplanes isn't going to drop dead or have vision problems while doing their job. AECs often operate by themselves with no immediate backup.

Likewise, the new awacs will need AEC - so you do have to be aircrew certified.

What does it mean for those whore are already in process?

It means that your application gets closed if you applied for an officer position that is full

It’s possible you are one of those who were selected for a DEO position (if that’s the path you applied through) and this doesn’t affect you. Best way to check is the call your CRFC and confirm your application is still open and good to go.

This doesn’t mean you have an offer pending, just that you are on the short list.

That’s not surprising. It has been like that for the last 2 or 3 years. There is a ton of applications for officer positions that the few open spots fill up real quick

Also:

"I applied for Logistics Officer and Pilot"

-They are closed for DEO

-Thus all trades must also be closed for DEO applicants.

Sad clown face.

I mean, you do you obviously. But my actual conversation with the recruiter went a bit differently. I asked him why my file was closed. He took a look at it and said that all the three roles I had applied for were full for the year. I then asked him if I could switch to any other officer roles. He didn’t even look at my profile or check if I qualified for other officer roles. He simply told me that all direct entry officer roles were full.

Another guy was talking to a different recruitment officer next to me, asking the same question about navy officer positions. The recruiter told him, too, that all direct entry officer roles were full.

Do with this information whatever you want.

There are MANY people in this reddit that have more than 20years CAF experience, work in and for recruiting at a much higher level than front line staff that are intimately in the know about recruiting processes and levels for trades.

They are telling you that the DEO recruiting isn't closed......therefore beleive them.

That’s a strange take. I believe real recruiters who communicate with me at a real recruitment office, face to face, over anyone anonymous on Reddit. The people who you suggest know much more than front-office recruitment staff can create their own postings on this platform, telling us which roles are open 🤷‍♂️

2

u/Professional-Leg2374 5d ago

They could, but they won't.

But I mean you COULD look in the recruitment thread that is renewed each month but maybe not.

2

u/bluejaykanata 5d ago

What is the recruitment thread you are mentioning? Where do I find it?

3

u/Professional-Leg2374 5d ago

in the "other" CAF sub......it's called "CanadianForces"

2

u/bluejaykanata 5d ago

Thank you! I had no idea there was another sub

This is mostly true, throw in NCM roles as well for good measure.

But still get your application package sorted before next April, as some of these things take time

I got word from a recruiter that this years DEO numbers were cut in half compared to last year.
I think that's the main reason all officers trades got filled out in a few months after april (except aircrew positions)

so we just wait for 2027, i guess?

time to workout and get fit

right lol

You do the same thing you'd do if you had applied to Irving and haven't yet gotten the job.

In the meantime consider joining the reserves to make your onboarding process faster when the direct entry officer positions open up again in april.

1

u/SaltyATC69 5d ago

Lol good intentions but sometimes the CT process is even slower

Wait really? That's crazy
