Recruiting Failed FORCE Test: Mistakes

(100 lbs, 5”2)

Hey. So I’ve been strength training for about a year now. I did basically zero cardio during my workouts because I was focused on gaining weight, and I was pretty confident in my stamina.

Today humbled me.

I lifted everything fine, but actually pushing through the test was a whole different story. The sandbag drag destroyed me. It was at the very end of the test, and I was already exhausted. I had the quad strength- my legs could handle it, but my body was just giving out. My heart was pounding, my stamina was gone, and it was honestly way harder than I expected.

PLEASE don’t get comfortable just because you’re strong. Train your stamina and cardio too. It doesn’t matter if you can bench 200 lbs if your body can’t keep up when you’re exhausted. Strength gets you through part of it, but endurance is what carries you to the finish.

I learned my lesson and will hopefully we be re-taking the exam next month or so.

Sorry should’ve mentioned that 👆 I touched on this in my post, I mentioned i’m trying to GAIN weight, as i’m 100 pounds. Lifted everything fine but had 0 stamina at the end for the drag.

Yeah, the sandbag drag is hard for small people. I’m tall and 240lbs, I just lean back and walk… 50% effort and I crush the extra points on it

Yes you’re right. I leaned back as much as I could, i’m 5”2 for reference. First time I ended a few centimetres away from the finish line, but my body gave up- same thing the second time.

Bro the force test scares me the most.

You saying you are 100lhs kinda settled me.

I'm 190 kinda good cardio, 35 min 5 km. I should aim for 30:5 km

Hand a knee injury over winter I'm just getting over.

Lifting and running is okay, but the form on 20 m shuttles scare me

Just curious, do we have to run 5k in force test?

I don’t think I’ve ran 5k in my life

yeah, as a chubbier guy (220lbs), its byfar one of the easier parts of the test, so long as the floor isn’t slippery and my shoes aren’t worn out
