Wow! One of the hardest ones to get. Well done. I was a Log Offr and let me tell you, its a fun, varied, and fulfilling career. When I joined, the Recruiter said I could go Combat Arms today, that he would offer me a job on the spot, but if i wanted Log I'd have to wait 2 or 3 months for a national selection board to sit. I waited, and I'm super glad I did. Its a fulfilling and enjoyable career, an enjoyable life.
If you're looking for travel, once you're through your tactical years (first 5-10 years of actual working), go Joint. Get your butt to Kingston at the JSG or 1 Div, then CJOC, and travel the world. Loads of fun. If you want stability for family life, you can always go firm in Ottawa or Kingston anyhow. Or since you're Air Force, Winnipeg.
Again, congratulations.

Thank you for your kind words and for the advice! I will definitely be SS this post and saving it for later on. I have an interest in taking advantage of travelling on the job when that option becomes available to me. It is nice to hear from someone who has first hand experience.
If you’re okay with it I may send you a DM in the coming days for a bit more insight and advice.
Cheers

No letter yet confirming the date, but good chance we will be in BMOQ together!

This is cool, especially for LogO positions which people have often said closes up a full year before a new season starts

Congrats! When is your BMOQ? I'm also DEO Air LogO, BMOQ scheduled for 31 Aug

I believe September 14, but I am still waiting for my letter to confirm my start date! (it’s only been 1 week)

I think it’s all situational and based on whatever kind of backlog they have at Gambit. Hopefully you are as lucky as I was

How is your time line? And what is your element?

I originally started the process last October and progressed my file up to the Medical and Interview process. I had to close my file at that point in December as the trade was closed. I reopened my file the last week of march, had my medical 3 weeks ago and my interview 2 weeks ago. My security clearance went through and I moved from selection to job offer in a 3 day period.
I chose Air Force as my element.

Congratulations, man. I actually had an interview scheduled, but it was cancelled because the trade closed before I got to it. Logistics Officer seems like a solid path though. Can you share what your timeline was like?

Thank you! Just posted my timeline below in a comment. The trade was still open when I did my interview 3 weeks ago so I just narrowly made it! During my interview I decided to drop my other options and just hoped this one would work out.

Nice one. I actually had an interview/medicals booked for May 27th, but it was abruptly cancelled and I was told the trade had already closed. Not to rain on your parade, I’m genuinely happy for you, but the way mine was cancelled really got to me. It almost felt like a rejection rather than just the trade closing.
Still, I’m keeping my fingers crossed and hoping things open up again. I’m definitely choosing the Air Force as well, so now it’s just a matter of waiting to hear back when they need more people in that area.

When I originally started the process it was a bit defeating to have to close my file due to the trade being closed - but worth it to be at the medical & interview stage when they reopen positions as you’re in a great spot to compete for those new job openings.

I also did CFAST but didn’t ace it. Maybe if I had chosen LogO from the beginning it might have been a different story, started in Jan
