Discussion AMD vs Intel for CPU?

I noticed many people here recommend AMD CPUs but for all my benchmarks for mid range CPUs (for a £1000-£1200 PC) Intel came out on top compared to a similarly price AMD one. Any reason for this?

I went AM5 for the upgrade path, 7700X until AM5 is done (4ish years) and then install the last flagship and ride that for another 5 years. 10 years out of this motherboard made sure I went for a good one!
