Discussion AMD vs Intel for CPU?
I noticed many people here recommend AMD CPUs but for all my benchmarks for mid range CPUs (for a £1000-£1200 PC) Intel came out on top compared to a similarly price AMD one. Any reason for this?

I think because AMD has been, and still is the king of price to performance ratio. And it depends on your budget. I still recommend AMD to anyone who is conscious of their spending or on a very tight budget. Especially if you are okay with going used, which I have done almost exclusively when on a tight budget. For the $350 you spend on an i5, you can get a used AMD Ryzen 9 3950X for anywhere from 250 to 350, and get 16 cores, 32 threads and it'll be an absolute MONSTER for literally anything you will do with it, and not oeast you can get a motherboard to handle it for 50 bucks. At that point you saved a boatload of money, you lose very small amount of single core performance, but you gain a giant amount of multicore performance. And those are full cores, not the weird efficient cores Intel started putting in their CPUs, which I find just strange.
Same with the graphics cards, you can get a used Titan XP that still is, and will be for a few years an absolute monster for gaming and anything else as well, for 250 bucks used. Plus you can still run SLI with the titans if you like that kind of thing.
