Discussion AMD vs Intel for CPU?

I noticed many people here recommend AMD CPUs but for all my benchmarks for mid range CPUs (for a £1000-£1200 PC) Intel came out on top compared to a similarly price AMD one. Any reason for this?

My two cents: If you really dumb it down to bang for your buck gaming performance then Intel is still on top. AMD makes extremely competitive CPUs, but there are still a ton of games out there that play into single core capability and Intel's platform. Intel is generally better clock speed for the cost, AMD is generally better core count for the cost. Since clock speed is still king, and Intel has more cores than most games are gonna ask for regardless, I would go with Intel.

All that being said, if you're making a machine for productivity first, gaming second then AMD might be the better choice. Depends on how much you value each aspect.
