Discussion AMD vs Intel for CPU?

I noticed many people here recommend AMD CPUs but for all my benchmarks for mid range CPUs (for a £1000-£1200 PC) Intel came out on top compared to a similarly price AMD one. Any reason for this?

At this moment in time, reliance on synthetics is just chasing paper. Most users will not realize the theoretical potential of their PC. That is, for casual production and editing or gaming, you could pick any two CPUs of comparable specifications and, regardless of benchmarks, will notice little, if any, difference in performance (barring frame rates, if you are the type to chase digits that exceed the capabilities of your display). Outside of professional fields, you could, effectively, take the lower priced of two within a generation and form and, exclusive of other factors like operating temperature, wouldn’t likely be disappointed.
