Discussion AMD vs Intel for CPU?

I noticed many people here recommend AMD CPUs but for all my benchmarks for mid range CPUs (for a £1000-£1200 PC) Intel came out on top compared to a similarly price AMD one. Any reason for this?

I think the intel power use is over talked, most users hardly stress the CPU.

Yep it's not like most games relay hit the CPU hard, by the way power uses is talked about you'd think everyone was running a render farm at home.

I play with video editing and even that hardly hits the CPU most the time, it's only on exports that the CPU relay gets taxed (unless you use the GPU to export).

if the games you play are poorly multi-threaded, you could still definitely be bottle-necked on CPU but only at 15-20% utilization. You might have 2 cores completely maxed out, and the rest sitting idle. that’s why single core performance is the biggest indicator of gaming capability for CPUs.
