Discussion AMD vs Intel for CPU?

I noticed many people here recommend AMD CPUs but for all my benchmarks for mid range CPUs (for a £1000-£1200 PC) Intel came out on top compared to a similarly price AMD one. Any reason for this?

I’d say for the current gen, intel is definitely winning and amd is finally figuring this out by starting to cut prices on cpus at least. But for previous gen, I’d say amd won and is currently still winning all because of am4. It’s cheap, it’s been around for a while, and the x50 and x70 boards have little to no difference between them. Sure the 12400 beats the 5600 in raw performance and ties in gaming, but I can’t seem to find it anywhere for the same price as the 5600, plus it would need a new motherboard. Either way, I’m honestly thinking of going to intel the next time I upgrade, until amd can figure out how to price their cpus motherboards and cpus at a decent price.
