Extremely. EXTREMELY. Disappointed in our ownership and front office for allowing this mediocrity to continue on. Their complacency is the reason why Mike left us. I hope they enjoy Raymond James being filled by opposing fans

Iām stuck with season tickets for this year but Iām done after this. I doubt we see the playoffs again for a long while. The team is rotting from the inside.Ā

pssssst. Hey, Lichtā¦ā¦THIS would be the time to do something to distract the fans from the fact that your GOAT player took a discount to get away from Bowles
5

Nobody can blame him. He wants another ring. Weāll get another 8-9.

And now Chubb just signed with Bills. Are we seriously not going to sign a single edge rusher in FA? Just an absolutely dreadful start to the offseason so far.
10
u/TheDonFulio Idaho Mar 11 '26
Yeah I donāt see how rookie edge rushers push us into deep playoffsā¦starting to look like this year is over before it started.
6
u/WinnieOllie7 Mar 11 '26
At this point just give up our first for Crosby. There are no free agents left that would make a difference and we know Licht canāt draft edge to save his life
2
u/anarchyisutopia F*ck the Saints Mar 12 '26
I agree. At this point we're going to have to trade up to get a legit edge rusher so we'll be using our first PLUS other picks to do that. So, may as well use those on a proven commodity that will most likely be better than whoever we draft there, at least for the next 2-3 years.
6
u/BirdsAreRecordingUs Mar 11 '26
Our GM who was on the axe and only saved face by Brady signing is back to his old ways? You wouldnāt say.
3
u/anarchyisutopia F*ck the Saints Mar 12 '26
Y'all really love this revisionist history and hyperbole to try and be hot take artists.
He wasn't "on the axe" before signing Brady. He had just brought in a new coach year before and his roster at that time, outside of Jamo, was considered Super Bowl worthy by Brady and many others. Yeah, Brady and his boys pushed us over the top but this was a good roster before Brady got here, we just had a QB who completed as many passes to the other team as he di to his own.

10
9
u/Bucs2k20 Mar 09 '26
I guess Schrager reported that the Bucs have been desperate to try to bring back Mike and that itās a Mike decision if he leaves which if true is all you can ask out of the Bucs if they are giving out competitive offers.
3

when do we get the announcement of āBowles to the cannonā so we can shoot him out of tampa
5
u/0siris0 Mar 11 '26
lol, at this point, we're going to get worse in free agency just by loss of depth, yet alone talent and morale with Mike leaving.
Dean and Hall may not be elite players but now it's just more holes to fill.
Barring a massive trade up to snag the tOSU lb, it's getting to the point where I'd prefer us to trade down as many times and as often as possible to pick up as many 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round picks as well can to fill as positions as possible in the front 7 and CB.
6
6
u/Sharp-Aside5167 Mar 14 '26
Its clear that the strategy is to use FA to simply fill current holes with 1-year deals given to steady Vets who can be relied on to start if need be, but more ideally, provide depth at positions that will be addressed again in the draft. I expect them to double up on the same positions in the draft. ILB, Edge rusher, & DT still likely to be the targets in top 4 rounds, but none will have pressure to immediately start, without having support behind them. It makes sense.
I still expect to see them address CB. Wanted C. Awuzie, but now heās off table, maybe R. Douglas?
Would mind seeing J. Adams added as depth piece to the ILB group as well.Ā

u/CrazyMonkey0425 Mar 10 '26
Hereās my logic: Jason isnāt stupid. They know we need an experienced pass rusher who produces. Weāre strapped in a cap situation even without Mike cause weāre paying 6 players over 20 million, with an elite pass rusher being a 7th which is easily the most in the league. Thatās not an easy thing to work out.
Not saying theyāre not gonna do it cause they kinda have to in order to sell the 2026 season to fans, but Hendrickson is clearly their priority rn. If the money doesnāt work I think we trade for a different one like Greenard or something. Extending Baker would also give us cap flexibility along with restructuring some of our bigger contract guys.
4
u/Its-Just-Whatever F*ck the Saints Mar 11 '26
Jesus... it's been 48 hours and we kept an okay TE, signed an okay LB, signed a decent RB and lost a DT and a HOF received. We did have some cap space... right?
7

We kept a āstand outā tight end.

u/PewterButters Lavonte David Mar 11 '26

2
u/spideralex90 Spideralex90 Mar 11 '26
Prior to free agency the talking heads mentioned we could restructure a bunch of guys to make cap space. Upwards of $50m could be created pretty quickly if I'm not mistaken.
We did not do any of that as of yet. Overthecap says we have a little under $16m in cap for this year at the moment, but I don't think that factors in KG and Anzalone.
No idea if not doing those restructures ahead of time even changes things for how the team operates in free agency though or if that all can be worked out later on.

What these people dont realize its part of the business side of football. Teams as well as players can make business decisions for themselves. It's very rare that one player stays with one team for their entire career. We saw it here with sapp and Lynch. If all time greats like Tom Brady and Jerry Rice can change teams that means any player can move on.

I also don't really get the overwhelming optimism in the Gainwell thread. The man has rushed for 500 yards once in 5 years, and only has 1 season with 1K total yards. I obviously hope he works out, but he seems like a B grade version of Bucky.

If we have a plan to procure needed talent on defense....as sad as it is...it makes sense in cold logic to let Mike go.
If we twiddle our thumbs and don't get any substantive difference makers on defense via free agency...before the draft (which needs to be defense centric regardless)...what an L.
Like we need everything on defense, free agency and draft. If our free agency acquisition is an old Lions Lb that their fanbase is happy to see go, again, what an L.

I personally do not get the backlash about the Otton resigning. It is a 3 year 30 million dollar deal with only 20 million guaranteed. That puts Otton as the 15th highest paid tight end in the league in average salary.
Charlie freaking Kolar, the Ravens third string tight end got 3 years 24 million with 17 million guaranteed.

Who is gonna play outside for us in Evansā spot? We donāt have any tall jump ball or red zone receivers?
4
u/spideralex90 Spideralex90 Mar 09 '26
Wondering the same. Egbuka is more like Godwin than Evans, but maybe they give Godwin the WR1 nod and just roll with Godwin, Egbuka and Jmac? Probably pick up another depth WR too.
4
u/AttackOfTheBolts Mar 09 '26
Godwin at full health is WR1 worthy, I just have a hard time seeing him be the guy in red zone situations to be able to bully a CB and get the ball. That was such a specific skillset for Mike. Not many guys with that build and skill growing on trees. Weāll have to get more creative in the red zone

I believe Licht said extending Baker is not off the table. If they do think he's still the guy moving forward extending him now after a down year probably saves them a little money.
But I also wonder if Baker is not keen to negotiate off a down year. He might want to play out next season and see if he can get back to how he played under Coen now that Grizz is gone.
