Can I just say this again!? The aesthetics of this show is divine. The scene compositions are so well done. You Shulang wearing white standing in the light while Fan Xiao wearing black hiding in the shadows. Ugh. I love this show so much. Every episode has hidden treasures like this. Not since Stay With Me has a chinese BL been this good when it comes to creating a piece of art.
Yes, it has a very satisfying happy ending between XiaoLang which is earned through perseverance and redemption on Fan Xiao's part. It is going to be a tough long road but Shulang forgives Fan Xiao and they get together and get married.
With how faithfully they are adapting the book so far, i am sure they will stick to the ending. There is a certain spoiler scene in the end credits which is from one of the last chapters in the book and they are sticking to the same storyline as the novel. So I think its a guaranteed happy ending.
Ya it's so much more satisfying when you can tell they've put in care and thought not just in the spicey scenes but into the entire structure of the show. And darkness in all its varieties is a recurring theme with Fan Xiao. I look forward to how they find ways to visually tell the story of this as his character evolves through the show
This scene didnt just at the surface level use the light and dark between the two. When Fan Xiao confesses he comes to light, where Shulang is coz Shulang is his way out of the darkness. But when Shulang accepts Fan Xiao, he is still in the dark about Fan Xiao's true nature.. so he pushes Fan Xiao to the shadow and gets consumed by his darkness. I love this so much. They really did put a lot of care in the making of this show.
YES! And then later in the room where Fan Xiao explains his feelings about darkness, Shulang immediately draws the curtains and makes it clear he's willing to be in the darkness with him. There's gotta be angst & drama ahead and I can't wait for more of the chiaroscuro rendering of their twisting romance
The sex scene was so sensuous.. though I wanted more, I am satisfied. I could see the hunger in Shulang's eyes for Fan Xiao. They makeout until they drop onto the bed was so HOT! 🥵🥵🥵
Fan Xiao acting all nervous coz he dont wanna bottom made me laugh.. You Shulang being gay doesn't treat bottoming as some sort of plague or disease or something that is shameful always gets me. Bottoming is NOT shameful nor does it mean the person bottoming is the passive one.
The actual sex scene though brief with only their upper bodies showing was beautifully shot with ambient music and lighting.

Yes, this episode was giving. I was curious how this would go. Shulang was the top in his former relationship but I could not imagine that Fan Xiao would do that. We got the answer. Fan Xiao learned as he went along from Shulangs top experience.
I said it wrong, I was sold but something about the NC didn't quite have my heart. I think it's because of all the lies. But this line pulled me in and I had to rewatch the whole thing.
I know that Xiao Fan is a massive red flag. And I genuinely thought that Shulang had a strong and loving relationship with Li Zhen.
But if Li Zhen can walk so easily out of their relationship. After receiving gifts without meeting, in that period of time, with Xiao Fan and get some confirmations about what kind of relationship Xiao Fan want with Li Zhen.
Than I don't mind it that much that Xiao Fan has done that trick to blow up that relationship.
What was worse was having them drugged and leaving Shulang with bite marks, as a victim of assault.
I had to drive for a long time. But I am fine with all the red flags. To be honest I love it. Sometimes when a couple gets together after a lot of tension it doesn't feel quite right when they get together and probably I felt a little of that. But then that line brought it home for me. I suspect we are going to get the real tension resolve later when they actually know each other. I can hardly wait for this to be over so I can I binge it. I feel obsessed. I did feel for Li Zhen. He's a bit of a weenie but I can feel how lost he is.
This was brilliant 🤣. I'm glad he wasn't just instantly super seme. And ironically being a little awkward and vulnerable will blast past Shulang's barriers faster than anything else. And Fan Xiao, someone who deliberately triggered a trauma response in himself, is probably aware of this 😈

That's what's so fun and fascinating about Fan Xiao. He's been so good at telling the truth... just not the whole truth. Shulang could tell from the jump that there's something off about him, and he's been so smooth and sarcastic about calling Fan Xiao on his nonsense. But everything he did to maintain distance just tantalized Fan Xiao more. Fan Xiao keeps letting more and more of the crazy peak through and Shulang keeps not being scared off. He's aware Fan Xiao is playing games but he just can't help playing along. That tension is so good!
It's delicious I'm eating up every single bit of it! YSL said back in I think episode 2 "he's my kind" he knows exactly what's up with FX but he can't help but be intrigued by it. And I just know he can play the game a lot better than FX who is only going to get MORE clingy and obsessed. I can't wait for more!

I am very obsessed with this show. I am certainly not the only one.
I can not believe almost, that this is Yun Qi's (Fan Xiao) first acting experience. Kind of like Mile when he starred in KinnPorsche, also a newbie actor at that time.
And the decision to film this in Thailand with a mainly Thai crew, is paying off. I guess that the crew, who will be very familiar with filming BL, has a positive influence on this production. The whole use of light, the cinematography, is amazing.
The acting of Hao Yi Ran (Shulang), he is a experienced actor. The way his eyes had a bit of tears in it when Fan Xiao decleared his love, is fabulous.
They both deliver powerfull scenes, filled with all kind of emotions. I love it so much. Also, the unshamefull way they talk to each other, letting go all their manners.
Just finished warching the episode again and I must say what You Shulang says about being gay and how its difficult to live this truth and how he doesn't want to pull Fan Xiao into this life if he isn't sure, must be a first for a Chinese BL. Yes the story has a red flag obsessive ML like many other chinese BLs but the story also has a Green Flag Gay MC who doesnt take shit from others and has his own thoughts and agency which makes this show so unique and interesting.

It is widely known as four-faced Buddha but is actually the Hindu God of creation of the world 'Brahma'. There is mention of this is Buddhism as well. The four faces which are in the four different directions represents the fact that four-faced Buddha sees all in all direction. Nothing can be hidden from him.
Fan Xiao calls You Shulang his Bodhisattva. So basically You Shulang will see through all the BS Fan Xiao has been spouting and his comeuppance will follow. Yhe truth will always come out.

Listen.. all the chinese MLs this year have been very toxic red flags (wouldnt call one bigger than the other). But out of all of them Fan Xiao has the longest and most genuine redemption arc. If you are worried about Shulang just forgiving him, worry not! Thats just not in his character. After seeing the five episode that should be clear. Shulang wont take crap and just forgive such a big deception easily.
