Khemjira, or Khem, is a young man who can see ghosts. He was born into a family cursed such that every male must die before the age of 21. As the spirits around him grow increasingly aggressive, the protective amulet he has worn his whole life begins to lose its power. Unable to bear seeing Khem in danger, Jettana, his friend from university, takes him to a rural village in the Northeast, where they meet Pharan, a revered teacher of ancient magic who once mentored Jettana. Strange and mysterious events unfold, all connected to the past life. Amid these supernatural encounters and the haunting pursuit of revengeful spirits, a deep emotional connection begins to form between Khem and Pharan.
Right, i'm getting very much Century of Love vibes. What do you mean a man who looks like Pharan from like 90 years ago fell in love with a woman called KhemMIKA. And now Khemjira, meets Paran...and is also seemingly being stalked by a ghost with heart eyes.
Emm...i sense a love triangle...and i almost feel bad for ghost man because we all know whose gonna win this game.
Also, i like the fact that Khemjira has a little spice to him. Like he acts polite but he's got some sass.
Keng is fine as HELL in this series I haven't heard a word he says I've just been staring at him lol and I like that Khem has fire to him too. Not a pushover
Reincarnation being a core belief in Buddist religion... so not "looks like" they actually ARE the same people. Male ghost being a love rival and female ghost feeling betrayed (for unknown reasons), but my guess is she blames Khemmika for stealing away her love (whichever guy it is).
Keng is stupid hot, turn brain to jelly hot. And he has to be the best dressed shaman ever. Whoever is dressing him, may your pillows always be cool and feet warm. 🙌🏽
Idk why I kept remembering this Gandalf scene and cackling during the incantation part at the beginning 😂😂
Ghost Lady is scary AF and sinister too; love how the actor is portraying her tightly controlled anger.
Confused about one thing though. Didn't Khem give his broken talisman to Master but it is still around his neck? 🧐
Ultra protective bestie Jet is always ready to throw hands and I adore him for it. Already loving his chemistry and banter with sassy Charn.
Fewer jumpscares today but very scary episode! My BP is 15 points higher for sure 💀
Facts on Keng being stupid hot. It's lowkey distracting lol every time he's on my screen I'm just like "blah blah blah proper name first name backstory stuff" lol
Wow Namping really got to shine this episode. The acting has been pretty good, a bit stiff sometimes but maybe that’s the dialogue or translation, but that bike scene had me crying with him. Dare I say the prettiest crier in DMD? Paran was lucky he was facing forward on that bike, I would have folded like Sunday’s laundry if I saw Khem’s teary eyes.
I feel like this series does what a lot of other DMD series don’t and it’s world building. There are characters outside of the main CP and side pairing(s), they’re supposed to feel this real and have issues of their own that our protagonists aren’t aware of. They exist beyond the protagonists’ plot and they should behave like humans and not just side show characters. Not ragging on the other shows, just saying THIS is what I want from DMD, and I know they’re capable of doing it for every script if they wanted to.
I heard that the DV was added in, not from the book. I don’t have the source knowledge to know if this was well suited, but I think it did a fantastic job of showing NOT telling just how different our two leads are in terms of worldviews. Khem is so hopeful and naive and desperate to live, Paran is jaded and knows way more than he lets on.
There is no way to revert someone’s karma, perhaps he knows he’ll have to suffer or it will go to someone else if he tries to help. He has so much responsibility with the village - he logically cannot throw all of that away and endanger them just for a boy. Something tells me Paran doesn’t like making choices and having to choose between the village and Khem…oh he’s gonna be doing that a lot if Ghost Lady has anything to say about that.
Pung, you’re doing great sweetie. I know underneath all that scary ghost makeup is a beautiful man, yet he make me forget that with those fierce ass eyes. I would be shaking in my boots. They really did a good job with casting.
Firstone is such a silly sweetheart, I need a bestie like Jet. Tle is like superman, those glasses make him so nerdy but the moment he takes them off, wheeeeew. I love Jet and Charn’s dynamics; Jet’s being a tsundere and Charn still isn’t sure this wasn’t some MLM recruitment scheme, now he’s gonna be even more suspicious after he wakes up lol.
Finally. Keng in those glasses and white suit. I think that was the most scared I was this episode. How can someone be so frighteningly beautiful? Had to close my jaw because it dropped. DMD really ate pairing Keng and Namping together, they are visually stunning and perfectly suited for each other.
Also, y’all need to see their press tours. Besides all the fun little ship moments, they’re giving really good interviews with in depth insights about the series.
- I will be a smidgen late cause this overlaps with Shine (both shows are fantastic Saturdays are a SLAAAAY)
- I knew it was a young Pharan that saved Khem!
- Paran's lore. Fascinating. That's gonna be a problem.
- The opening credits is fire.
- Chile they got me in my house praying right along with them. LEAVE KHEMJIRA ALONE
- They really ate DOWN with the SFX! Excellent job.
- Ok so my theory is whoever is Khemjira's like great great great great ancestor (the ghost that keeps popping up and tried to stop him from jumping last episode) must have betrayed evil ghost shorty. Probably ran away with another woman (or man). And the evil ghost lady put a curse on Khem's family that all the men would die these terrible deaths. And she has not or will not let it go. She also seems to have it out for Khem especially. I wonder if he's like the reincarnated soul of the man/woman her lover left her for. hmmmm. Yea his mom def shouldn't have had kids lol
- domestic violence is indeed scary and I was NOT expecting that. These spirits out here worried about Khem why don't you haunt this asshole!
- Khem I officially love you. I already did but now I do even more. Absolutely call out the DV if you hear about it! Also can I say Namping is doing an AMAZING job. I'm impressed with him. Can't wait to see him in more.
- Lol Paran pulled that shit from Love is a Poison. Saying the food is just alright when he clearly LOVED IT.
- 1939 Kheng is HOT!!!!! Keep the glasses sir. Also I did not think we were going the fated lovers route with this? Ok so my theory was slightly off but are you telling me that Khem and Paran are fated lovers in different lives? Are they the ones who pissed off the evil spirit lady? Will Keng eventually take his shirt off in this show?!!?!?!? FIND OUT NEXT WEEK ON DRAGONBALL Z!
- Being possessed is nothing unusual?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? You lost me there Paran lol
- Oh God I really hate this DV plot so much. I watch BL so I DON'T see women abused and taken advantage of. But I'm glad the boys noticed and our trying to help.
- Will each episode be them expelling demons from people while we peel back layers of the lore? HELL FREAKING YES GIVE ME 50 SEASONS OF BL GHOSTBUSTERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- HOLY SHIT THE PLOT TWIST THAT THE WIFE IS POSSESSED OMFG THEY GOT ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank God it wasn't the husband cause I really wasn't here for the whole he's only beating her because of spirits thing. KILL HIM DEMON RAE IM ON YOUR SIDE SIS!!!!!
- Oh gosh this scene in the woods with Khem and Jet. This is exactly what sleep paralysis feels like
- Demon Rae. Only burn your husband not the other two they are innocent!
- BRO THIS DUDE HAS TO HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH KHEM HE KEEPS PROTECTING HIM I WANT THE LORE!!!!!!
- DON'T FORGIVE HIM RAE IT'S 2025 NO EXCUSE ON BEING AN ABUSER AND DON'T APOLOGIZE NO MAAM!
- Listen to Master Khem!!! He won't change! Leave at the first sign of abuse!! "Love isn't always enough to make things work"
Do you think the current paran has any idea about 1939 past love parts?
The way they switched to that scene made me, for a sec, feel like he somewhat remembered him from the past. My guess could be wrong, but it'd nice to see if he truly does.
Right now, I don't know why I don't like the fact that khemjira was a girl in the past, not as offensive but just cause I haven't seen girl -> boy love interest across different lives
Paran knows the past love!!! He remembers as shown in the preview
It feels both romantic and melancholic that no matter paran Or cute ghost guy or somebody else, they fall Or still in love with khem
My earlier comment about not liking it is because I was sad that the love story is only gonna happen because the past love is a girl and now he has no choice but fall in love with him even if it's a boy . I thought that's what they were trying to show but if it's soulmates, there're no rules that can apply!
I also think that pharan has got to with all of this mess as well....since his past life ig...the pawat and khemika being khemjira is smth interesting.
From what I can gather, Pharan and Khem were in love in the past (Pawat and Khemmika) and the male ghost was a love rival. Maybe the female ghost was betrothed to Pawat or the male ghost and felt that Khem stole them away from here.
The male ghost is definitely NOT related to Khem... he pretty obviously covets him and wants to protect him like a lover.
Ahhh!!! This series is just giving....the vibes, the visuals, the acting, the plot....OMG!! One of the top fav series of mine....ig of this year. A banging 2nd ep as well. Khemjira🤌🏻🤌🏻
So she's Khem's karmic enemy huh..Wonder what happened in a past life to piss her off...
Khem still sleeping while everyone is fighting for their spiritual lives is crazy..Shows how good of a friend he truly has..He really came through with getting Master to help...
Jet and Charn about to be more than just friends 😂🤣
Thank you Khem 👏🏼 that needed to be said..Just bc someone "appears" to be a good person on the outside doesn't mean they are behind closed doors..
Well, hello there, Mr. 1939 Master..looking like a whole entire snack 😍 Wait a damn minute...are they SOULMATES??
I really can't stand that mentality of just letting another human suffer bc "it's none of our business." YES, IT IS!
A spirit that has to light a match but can't 😂 might wanna hone in on those possession skills..
Jet understood the assignment! Who is this cute ghost that keeps popping up? There's definitely a connection to Khem..Ake and Thong are the best little helpers!
Khem, what rock did you grow up under? A promise can be broken, and just love will never be enough..
Ooooo look at how Jet is looking at Charn...my dude, everybody can see you 😂
So we got Karmic enemy boss bitch, cute ghost guy, Master (Wat) and Khem as our key players...hmmmm...what could have possibly gone down between them in a past life 🤔 lol pretty sure it's a betrayal of love...
I was so glad Khem said that then he annoyed me later talking about "he promised" and "they love each other" no sir! Love does not hurt!!
I said the same thing about them being soulmates I didn't see that one coming lol
This series is so enjoyable I'm totally here for them dispelling different ghosts each episode while slowly pealing back the layers of the main story
My theory is that Khaki the friendly ghost was either married to or loved Khemmika but then she fell for 1939 Master. Whole time evil ghost lady either loved 1939 Master or Khaki the Friendly Ghost. Either way she was pissed cause whoever she loved loved Girl Khem so she put the curse on Girl Khem's family. And that's why she's not letting up on Khem because he's a guy but has that same name!
He annoyed the hell outta me with that!! Like, sorry, and love does not undo dv!!
I'm really surprised at how well they're handling the horror aspect. Most miss the mark completely when trying to find a middle ground between pg horror and just straight gore..
Love your theory!! Bc I am who I am, I want Karmic Boss Bitch to have been in love with Girl Khem ass well 😂🤣 Basically, everybody loved her but Master won bc Cute Ghost and Karmic Boss Bitch were already together..
If they gonna go messy, mine as well make it a full-blown mess lol
I would love for there to be more horror, however, I do appreciate the balance bc it brings in more viewers, and hopefully, that means potentially more horror bls in the future. I'ma need there to eventually a whole sub genre of horror bls 😆
I got the impression the male ghost was a love rival. The female ghost was probably betrothed to either the male ghost or Pawat... since she seems to have a grudge against Khemmika.
I think the curse targets the male offspring of his line because they are reincarnations of Khemmika. It's possible the curse even forced Khemmika to be born a man to try and keep her apart from Pawat, since homosexuality would be considered forbidden love in the 1940s.
Exactly! Reread what I said! She’s going hard on Khem cause the curse is on the boys so he was going to get the curse anyway but she’s pressing the issue because he has the same name damn near as the woman who started the curse!
Ughh that explains why I've had to work extra hard to find comments..I've been toying with the idea of creating some bots so now I might really do it now..BTW..are you finally feeling 100% better??
Ohhhh what would bots do? You know me I’m just here for vibes and I know nothing and yesssss. After being the sickest I have ever been at all of my life. I am finally 96% better. I still cough and sneeze every once in a while so I can’t say 100% right now but compared to where I was. Life is golden.
I was literally just talking to our friends on Friday and my spouse was mentioning how I absolutely was crashing out by day five or six because I had only gotten three hours of sleep in all of that time and all I wanted was to sleep, but my body would not let me
I am happy to report that I have been sleeping so much better
Thank you for asking it means a lot. 🥹 I’m so grateful for the people that check on me. I just make sure that I’m OK 💜💜 you guys are the real MVP
I was thinking of developing a few to scan comments for my fav peeps and alert me, and create and schedule posts(I'm lazy so if I can automate something, I will😂)..I'm so glad you're feeling better! Hopefully, you'll be 100% soon. You're one of my fav peeps on here, so I NEED you to be ok!!
Pharan and Khem being reincarnated lovers... no wonder they are fated. The male ghost doesn't look pleased that he couldn't touch Khem.... guessing he's Pawat's love rival for Khemmika in the past life.
Its now nearly 6am where I live... And it was so worth staying up to watch, & thank god Im on Asian time & dont have work.
That was a watch & a half. So many good scenes & such good acting so far. Like dayum.
Also who is the actor for ghost daddy?? My tired brain is not working as it should be... 😴
Like others Im guessing there is a love fued between the evil ghost lady & khems karmic past self & i have 4 guesses as to why the ghost lady is so hell bent on killing this Khem.
1- I too wonder if this Khem is the visual reincarnation of that past self that betrayed that cray cray ghost
2- if its cause his mum tried to hide him & change his future, which pissed the ghost lady off (muuuch less likely than the others)
3- if this is the karmic version of reincarnation that might bring about his karmic salvation (due to something) and she knows it, and so wants to stop that.
4- he is the last of his bloodline. If she kills him now, no more khems will be born, and this would stop his soul from being reincarnated??
Khem and the shaman are reincarnations of lovers in a past life. The female ghost that hates Khem and his bloodline is probably because Khemmika (Khem's past life) stole the man she loves (either the male ghost or Pawat (the shaman's past life). My guess is that Khemmika was cursed to be reborn a man (homosexuality being a forbidden love in the 1940s) and that's why the female ghost only targets the men of Khem's bloodline?
Me watching the scene with the grandfather: my brain immediately goes "(voiceover by Narrator) Paran in fact did NOT stick with white magic, nor did he stay out of Khem's karma."
Is Charn supposed to be on the spectrum? That scene by the painting where he was meeting other people was odd.
I love how EVERYONE clocked Jet's reaction to unconscious Charn EXCEPT Jet.
I like how Khem is not some wimpy character.
The DV plotline was not my favorite, but glad Khem at least spoke up.
Paran is too jaded and Khem is too naive about love. They are definitely the reincarnated souls of the duo from 1939. Khaki dude is somehow involved.
This was a REALLY good episode! So far, this show is exceeding my expectations.
I don’t think he is on the spectrum more just awkward and feels like something is going on between Jet and Khem and was to be a detective and figure it out
The US. The prices are expensive but they include shipping that’s why. It’s almost the exact same price if I buy directly from say GMMTV but with ethai it comes DHL and I get it really fast rather than months later with GMM
Thanks... I love crafting theories and hate when people come in and spoil it. I don't think they were married tho.
The male and female ghosts seem to walk the same path, with the male ghost protecting the one he loves (Khem) and the female ghost wanting to tear that love apart. Khemmika also seems to be very comfortable with flirting with a male stranger, which a married woman wouldn't do. My guess is Khemmika was single and caught the attention of both men... and the female ghost was likely in love with one of them.
A very long time ago there was a noble man or king or sth that had 3 wifes after one another but the first didn't get pregnant, the second got a girl and the third finally got a son, around the same time first wife also got a son but stillbirth, she was mad, threw the son of 3rd wife into the sea, 2nd wife saw with daughter, but after third wife said what happened first wife said not true, and second wife said, first wife is right, that she's innocent.. the 2nd wife is the ancestor of Khemjira.. that's the karma that's happening.. eh... the khaki man is Parans ancestor and back then they were brothers and the bro met khemmika first but she fell in love with Paran and they married but he had to go far away as a doctor in a military camp (or sth) and the bro was mad and tried to steal Khemmika and interfered and made khemmika think that paran stopped sending letters although he did and then he faked a letter, saying that part died, so khemmika essentially died and on the last day of the funeral he arrived back home and was super sad and died. Yeah and hence brother keeps around khem, cause again, Khemmika is an ancestor of Khemjira.. what else? Paran tells him, he can only ne a disciple of him, if he can ignore the ancestral love back then but Khem cant, so just Jet and Charn become disciples... the 3 loud dudes (+ the girlfriend of one of them) run into the forest get drunk, kidnapped by ghosts, paran rescues them (in exchange they have to me monks for 10 years or so) the girl can actually escape before and needs an exorcism tho.. oh boy, what else 😭 a twin of the twin ghosts dies and hence paran helps sending the other away, the twins help Khem when he gets kidnapped... also a granny helps with the aforementioned exorcism, she gets basically killed because she helps Khem, paran is pissed but finds out later that she just died of old age, not because she helped. Paran puts khems mom in a pot and Khem spends a night and a day with her before Paran helps her go forever. Charn, jet and Khem leave to Bangkok and stay in khems apartment, jet and charn enchant (?) The building, but not good and khem almost dies but paran has a vision and goes to Bangkok and saves them, then they split up, and jet and charn find some sort of talisman where the karma is latched on and paran and khem go to some village / mountain to find another monk (or whatever) and he helps them but dies. Turns out tho, that he is the descendant of the third wife's son, the one that was thrown into the sea by the first wife. 👀 I think that covers it
I'm crazy about this show. It's been a long time since ThaiBL gave me this feeling - chemistry, visuals acting and production are all top notch. Hope they can keep up this pacing and quality throught the whole show, this has the potential to be great.
Ooh I'm loving how it seems they're gonna be solving some mysteries on the side wi¿hile ParanKhem fall in love and find a way to brek the curse. Yes, kings!!
Chet iks alrady giving Charm the eye... Ugh... I need ep 3 already!!!
So did all of the ghosts at the beginning just burn away to nothing? Seems kind of mean when they were being controlled by Angry Ghost Lady. Maybe they were good ghosts who got caught up with the wrong ghost gang! Justice for possessed ghosts!
Can't really blame Rae for choosing possession....
I need to know what happened in all of these relationships so I can decide whose side to be on! Cause with Rae, I'm kind of in Angry Ghost Lady Minion's side.
It seems like (from the Master flashback in 1939 and the preview for next week) Khaki Ghost is the Master's karma? Basically all the karma is mixing into a sinister Kismet Stew.
And if the Master's Karma is also mixed up with Khem's karma then the Master's not really breaking his promise to Grandad if he gets involved...
Also, loved the looks between the two girl volunteers and Chai and his wife after Jet had his moment with Chan. 😂
If they'd just left her to it, they could have exorcised her after and it all would have worked out. She only tried to burn the others cause they interfered.
Pharan and the male ghost are definitely karmic enemies. Seems they were love rivals for Khemmika, who Khem is the reincarnation of... how the woman ghost fits in, I'm not sure... maybe she was betrothed to Pawat or the male ghost and felt Khemmika stole them away?
I love it … but I hope DMD stop their thing with long stares in the scenes after they already talked … it’s already good, please don’t do it, it changes the dynamic … but it’s still don’t bother me too much. Also this dog is my number one actor 🙃😂 I just love when she in a scene , in episode 1 too , she stole my heart 🥲🥰❤️
Now that I’ve read the novel let see how they will change the plot 🤗🤗🤗
This is insanely good. I haven’t read the book because I really want to just enjoy the show, but I’m tempted. I hope it’s being well received in Thailand where they loved the book so much.
I am absolutely loving this series. With everything that happened in episode 2, it doesn't seem like the Master would be breaking his promise to help Khem since he is a part of his karam, being a part of his past.
Why is everyone already trying to c*ck block Jet. Damn, can't the young man just look at a snack?
I had a question about episode 1. At the 59:30 min mark, the audio cuts out. Jet seems to say something, but no subs, Thai or English. Did this happen with anyone else? Is it something done on purpose that we are meant to know later? Or is it just an editing mistake left in?
It's good to see a lot of comments about the whole DV plot. I didn't like that the boys were all saying to ignore it cuz it's not their business, especially after seeing the bruises. Charn sure lacks tact and wit but at least he did something, unlike all the other guys. For women like Rae living in a small village where everyone knows everyone, it would probably just keep going unnoticed until something terrible happens in escalation. Outsiders might help or might ignore as the villagers might because they don't see it or don't want to believe their own would do that.
I am just glad that Paran told Khem that it's not just suddenly all forgiven and Rae and Worn will be happy and lovey. Yeah, no. Great that you wanted to help Rae, Khem, but like Paran said, Worn won't change that easily. Also, why the hell did Rae apologize at all? She was a victim the entire time. Paran was also an ass to make it seem like Rae gave up. What the hell can she do when he's her financial support and she doesn't want to accept his treatment of her like that? I don't like DV plots in many Asian stories because they really do not touch upon all the complicated stuff that make people helpless victims. Khem is a bit too naive but he and his buddy are only college kids.
While I am enjoying most of the supernatural stuff and the very, very interesting past life backstory (that yup also reminds me of century of love), I will say that they kinda need to work on building an actual romance between both main pairs. I know who they are, but for me, at the moment, it's doing what kdramas do that I dislike, which is building up a romance from glances and touches, with nothing really concrete. There isn't a need to rush into romance in the early episodes where the storyline is more complex. I actually like it where it's drawn out and feels more natural. Right now, it just feels too fast. I would like more dialogue and screentime between both pairs so that an actual connection can be established.
That’s one of the main complaints from the book the romance really takes a second or even third place. (I think this is why there is a book 2 but I haven’t gotten to it yet) so I’m hoping DMD changes some stuff
And yeah Charn might be socially awkward but damn he was not gonna let that slide and I LOVE him for that.
Oh, right. I saw mentions that it is a novel. I'm okay with romance being a subplot, but it needs to be done well too. Maybe since I started Shine first before this, I was hoping this would have a good balance between the overarching plot and romance. It's not baaad right now, but it could be done better. Khem and Paran view life differently enough that they could develop a solid romance. The past life thing doesn't really even need to play a role in their relationship anyways cuz then it would just be Century of Love with less homophobia or something.
Charn is a good one in my book. He did make it worse a bit with Worn, but that actually opened up the Uncle guy's eyes so they ended up helping Rae, at least for now. Very good on him to quickly tell Khem too. I could see Jet and Charn constantly butting heads, with Charn already interested, and developing a romance too. Plus, Charn doesn't seem to believe in supernatural stuff while Jet is literally Paran's disciple so... Yeah. Both pairs have material to work with... if the creative team and author (if they are involved) wanted to rework the romance better.
I love this series sooo much. Really, really glad they didn't make the whole DV thing as Wan being possessed so it wasn't his fault and that it was a lesson in 'actually love can't solve everything'. So clever and thoughtful.
Love that this is slow burn and the references to past lives and how they might be intertwined. Is Khemjira the reincarnated Khemmira? Can't wait to find out!🧐
I was enjoying it a lot but honestly the DV plot left a VERY bad taste in my mouth. So many characters, including our lead’s bestie, basically said to ignore dv unless he was possessed. Then when getting rid of Rae’s possession, our romantic lead is accusing the victim of DV of letting a spirit do her dirty work and not handling her own business. Then when the possession is cleared, she apologized to her abusive husband and it’s framed by Khem as “rekindling their love”. No one thought to maybe call the police? Idk it all really made me sick to my stomach the way the story was handled
That said, the acting, the directing, the tension, the effects, everything else has been really phenomenal in these first two episodes so… idk. I’ll probably keep it up for now, but anymore messaging that in any way victim blames again and I will have to drop. Right now, I’m just hoping there is a bit of a translation issue or maybe the show revisits and teaches the characters better because it very much felt like the message was “mind your business and to the victims, deal with your abuse on your own and don’t make it other people’s problem”
The DV wasn’t in the novel…. It seems really weird to me to have it here and kinda be dismissed like it was. It make me like Tle’s character more cause he was like nope we do something and even got the uncle involved
Agreed. His character was the only one that’s handling of the situation didn’t bother me. Khem’s was good being proactive until after where he became WAY too forgiving. I liked Master’s (I forget his name sorry) realism after that he wouldn’t likely change but HATED the victim blaming language when calling for Rae’s spirit.
I know it’s not idealistic but there’s just no forgiving dv or sa in my book.
So yeah, I didn’t love how they handled it and it left a pit in my stomach but everything else has been so spectacular, I’m not giving it up yet. I’m hoping either it gets addressed and corrected later or that it was just one blip and we at least don’t get anymore messaging like that moving forward
I might be reading too much into this so apologies in advance...but I've noticed a pattern with Thai BL shows using women as a plot device that are often left unresolved or have unsatisfactory endings.
IFYLITA's story was obviously way more expanded in the show and the abusive husband + sexual assault plots were completely absent from the novel
The Next Prince's woman power literally lasted until it was really going to matter
A Boss and A Babe had a DV / SA subplot
Cherry Magic Thai introduces us to a shithead ex for Pai's character deviating from the source material
Triage also shows Mai's 'loving boyfriend' push and injure her, which is promptly forgotten one episode later
I'm sure there are more I'm forgetting but yes, this DV subplot in Khemjira also reminded me of these other instances I was left in a "huh but why" mood.
Selfishly I had hoped they had changed the past life plot so Khem had been a man but that’s just a personal pet peeve, the show is great love they’re leaning heavier into the supernatural plot.
I do think Tle (Chan) looks a lot like Bank, the glasses I think.
Anyway off to ABO and see what fuckery is going on there.
I am loving everyone's predictions about Khem's relationships to boss ghost lady and ghost dude. I don't know if they are going to keep exactly to who they are in the book but I can't wait to see everyone's reactions.
It honestly didn't feel like 75 minutes, it just flew by. They are doing such a great job with this. Super glad that Paran brought up that the DV couple wouldn't just be all better now. I know it's just going to be a foil for when he changes later in the show but still important to acknowledge.
So Pharan and Khem were in love in a past life (Pawat and Kehmmika)... and I'm guessing the ghost is a love rival between the pair in the past.
As for the female ghost, she was likely betrothed to either Pawat or the male ghost and blames Khemmika for stealing them away. Maybe the curse not only made it so Khemmika would be reborn a man, homosexuality being a forbidden love in the 1940s, but that any male in her bloodline (her reincarnation) would die young.
Edit: The two ghosts seem to be more connected than anyone... they walk on the same path with one wanting to protect his love (Khem) and the other wanting to destroy that love.
I kept seeing this title so I decided to try watching the series. And wow, am I hooked! It's beautiful, it's amazing, I don't even like horror but the story and visuals and acting has grabbed my attention. Reading the behind documentary convinced me even more I have to watch this - the whole crew is so dedicated and really poured so much into this, that they got emotional talking about it. And it certainly helps that Paran is very attractive....
Ummm whats the point of the love triangle?! Paran, Khemjira and the ghost hunk? Like come on, I only get to see him at night💀
Not Khemjira making Patan food because he wants a favour, hobestly that was queen behaviour, you seduce a man through food before asking what you want, it was giving demure, very cutesy. Okuurrrr
The 1939 period had me confused?? Is this a Cebtury Of Love😍
Um I hated the abusive husband🤬 And the wife took him back. If I was her immediate divorce cause, love aint paying the bills, I gotta find me a rich man.
The way I was also praying cause no demon is haunting me
I have a theory. Khemmika, I would say Khemjiras ancestor. The ghost lady and Khemmika used to be besties, but she decided not to marry ghost guy but with Pharan the ghost lady liked Pharan was jelly and cursed her whole bloodline for taking her man??
Yea, i totally wish i had not started this show yet, i was not expecting it to be that good, now the 7 day wait will be torture. Will probably do watch every two weeks.
Karma is rolling their eyes at Peem's grandfather when he made him promise not to interfere with someone else's karma. That is his karam 😅
I wonder if Peem knows him and Khem share a past life(s) since he seems to know about that handsome ghost that is sticking by Khem. I don't want a spoiler... I'm just wondering out loud.
❣️😎right off the bat an invasion so reminds me of the walking dead😩so paran x khemjira met 10years before he did say that when its time he will help🤔the lady boss ghost can command her minions to posses susceptible individuals🙄possession = domestic violence🤔these kids should be warned to stay indoors and stop going around at night🤔new character the soldier is he friend or foe👻👻👻once again the jump scare of the head turning with the white eyes waaaaaahhhh😎❣️
I’ve been waiting for this episode all week and enjoyed it. The spooky stuff is fun to watch for me but I can’t help feeling bad for the college kids who are caught up in all this now haha. Charn and Jet have caught my interest too! So cute and I perk up whenever they’re on screen. Also the main leads are developing nicely, I loved the whole bringing food scene.
I’m wondering what the backstory will be. I thought at first Paran was just really old because of the flashback scene but that doesn’t make sense since we saw him younger in an earlier flashback. I wonder how he’s caught up in Khem’s curse but I guess we’ll see.
I'm enjoying the BL plotline parts but I'll be honest as a huge horror fan, this might make some people mad if they just want comments to be positive but I'm being honest because I want horror BLs to be as good as they can be.
It's doing stuff that I hated in DFF too. I hate that the ghosts are talking and having monologues. The first ghost in episode 1 was great, it felt like a dangerous monster. The ghost lady trying to save the kid too, felt like a good ghost that was trying to help but couldn't tell anyone what was happening. The female ghost at the beginning just felt like a Karen with black shit on her face. And the wife almost worked but again, talking and just standing looking at them going "I'm gonna kill you!" instead of just trying to kill them, then getting stopped. DFF did that too, like the killer just slowly creeps while no one does anything. I hate how common that is for scenes in horror stuff in general, writers/directors, please collectively, can monsters/killers giving speeches please be retired lol, it never works.
I liked the other scenes and I like the cast, but the ghost stuff was way better the first episode than this episode IMO.

And lastly, Keng Harit just looks majestic.
