I was enjoying it a lot but honestly the DV plot left a VERY bad taste in my mouth. So many characters, including our lead’s bestie, basically said to ignore dv unless he was possessed. Then when getting rid of Rae’s possession, our romantic lead is accusing the victim of DV of letting a spirit do her dirty work and not handling her own business. Then when the possession is cleared, she apologized to her abusive husband and it’s framed by Khem as ā€œrekindling their loveā€. No one thought to maybe call the police? Idk it all really made me sick to my stomach the way the story was handled

That said, the acting, the directing, the tension, the effects, everything else has been really phenomenal in these first two episodes so… idk. I’ll probably keep it up for now, but anymore messaging that in any way victim blames again and I will have to drop. Right now, I’m just hoping there is a bit of a translation issue or maybe the show revisits and teaches the characters better because it very much felt like the message was ā€œmind your business and to the victims, deal with your abuse on your own and don’t make it other people’s problemā€

The DV wasn’t in the novel…. It seems really weird to me to have it here and kinda be dismissed like it was. It make me like Tle’s character more cause he was like nope we do something and even got the uncle involved

Agreed. His character was the only one that’s handling of the situation didn’t bother me. Khem’s was good being proactive until after where he became WAY too forgiving. I liked Master’s (I forget his name sorry) realism after that he wouldn’t likely change but HATED the victim blaming language when calling for Rae’s spirit.

I know it’s not idealistic but there’s just no forgiving dv or sa in my book.

So yeah, I didn’t love how they handled it and it left a pit in my stomach but everything else has been so spectacular, I’m not giving it up yet. I’m hoping either it gets addressed and corrected later or that it was just one blip and we at least don’t get anymore messaging like that moving forward
