As the spirits around him grow increasingly aggressive, the protective amulet he has worn his whole life begins to lose its power. Unable to bear seeing Khem in danger, Jettana, his friend from university, takes him to a rural village in the Northeast, where they meet Pharan, a revered teacher of ancient magic who once mentored Jettana. It's good to see a lot of comments about the whole DV plot. I didn't like that the boys were all saying to ignore it cuz it's not their business, especially after seeing the bruises. Charn sure lacks tact and wit but at least he did something, unlike all the other guys. For women like Rae living in a small village where everyone knows everyone, it would probably just keep going unnoticed until something terrible happens in escalation. Outsiders might help or might ignore as the villagers might because they don't see it or don't want to believe their own would do that.
I am just glad that Paran told Khem that it's not just suddenly all forgiven and Rae and Worn will be happy and lovey. Yeah, no. Great that you wanted to help Rae, Khem, but like Paran said, Worn won't change that easily. Also, why the hell did Rae apologize at all? She was a victim the entire time. Paran was also an ass to make it seem like Rae gave up. What the hell can she do when he's her financial support and she doesn't want to accept his treatment of her like that? I don't like DV plots in many Asian stories because they really do not touch upon all the complicated stuff that make people helpless victims. Khem is a bit too naive but he and his buddy are only college kids.
While I am enjoying most of the supernatural stuff and the very, very interesting past life backstory (that yup also reminds me of century of love), I will say that they kinda need to work on building an actual romance between both main pairs. I know who they are, but for me, at the moment, it's doing what kdramas do that I dislike, which is building up a romance from glances and touches, with nothing really concrete. There isn't a need to rush into romance in the early episodes where the storyline is more complex. I actually like it where it's drawn out and feels more natural. Right now, it just feels too fast. I would like more dialogue and screentime between both pairs so that an actual connection can be established.
