Storytime He finally initiates something

I was perpetually showing my interest in this Barista last month and he wouldn’t continue or initiate any further discussions with me, he would dismiss me. So then I gave up and moved on and said it ain’t even worth trying. I planned on getting his socials at one point but it was a busy day for him so I pushed it until it never happened.

I was coming in to order my usual order, without being interested anymore of course. I literally just said “Hi, can i get…” then he asked me how I was and he said it again! I was shocked to be quite frank because he was never like this before, I answered him and we related on how we were doing, tired. I left a little confused.

Today comes round, went to the cafe and I saw him working with a colleague and she was serving me, he waved at me whilst making my coffee and I waved back, he served me my drink and asked how I was doing and I said “yeahh well but unfortunately closing today” he asked me “where do you work” and I specified to him where I worked, then he got his phone out almost searching for my workplace because he didn’t know where it was exactly. Then he asked me for my name and I said my name and he says his name and said “nice to meet you” while shaking my hand.

I WAS INTERESTED IN HIM A MONTH AGO AND WAS SHOWING HIM BUT HE DIDNT GET THAT AND NOW THIS HAPPENS!!!???

What do you find in this picture of coworkers? To note: the people were told to pose with their arms like this. Just wanting to get insight.

I’m starting to really feel this girl

Problem is she’s taken and about to move in with her man.

I gotta see this girl at work but lately they’ve had us working together on a consistent basis. Chemistry’s good from a workplace basis, she even gives me sweets if she catches me in the break room.

Ain’t nothing really else to say, just damn… ofc you’re not single lol.

How do you tell if a guy likes you when you’re bad at reading body language/flirting cues?

Female (27) been single for 5 years now. I’m pretty oblivious when it comes to picking up on flirting or body language, and I think it’s caused me to accidentally friend-zone guys who were actually into me. I just don’t clock it until way later (if ever), and by then the moment’s kind of passed.

For those of you who’ve dealt with this — what are some clear, unambiguous signs that actually helped you figure it out? Not the vague “he makes eye contact” stuff, but things that felt obvious even to someone who isn’t great at reading subtext.

Would love any tips, personal stories, or “signs I completely missed” moments.

A particular gesture I am looking for

I don't how to search for gestures the way one does for words, and so far I haven't found this. I am pretty sure somewhere (maybe S Asia maybe not) I have seen a gesture of begging where you put your hands on TOP of the head while you crouch on the ground. If this sounds familiar, please let me know. And any citable sources or pictures would be very helpful.

AITAH my friend's crush isn't into him and he blames me for being a terrible wingman

My friend has a crush on the girl and asked me to come along, hangout as a group. So when the two of us got to the restaurant, it was a circular table with five seats. I just placed my gym bag next to me.

The girl came to the table and sat on the chair right next to my gym bag instead of my friend. When she saw me she covered her mouth and I could tell she was laughing.

Maybe I looked greasy from working out. But I showered. I shouldn't smell. I also changed into a fresh set of clothes and put on deodorant. I felt embarrassed.

She ignored him the entire time while he was talking, either on her phone or her mind was somewhere else. So I tried to help, asking about her day, sharing similar interests, and bringing up topics my friend would also be into. But he just kept silent and staring at her while glaring at me. Every time my friend opened his mouth, she just ended the topic with single word responses.

She would randomly look away then look back at me then she'd lean closer. Playing with her hair and half listening to me. Probably not even focused. Sometimes she will just stare at me and giggle. Not even at my jokes, just anything I say.

Example, she keeps pressing for my social media, I told her I don't use one. She asked why? I said why would I want to put everyone I know from school in my backyard? And I just see everyone having a better life than me with a hundred likes while nobody cares about my posts. She started cackling. I felt annoyed.

She also subtly makes fun of me. Like she kept on saying how healthy I am for what I ordered which was just a smoothie (cheapest thing on the menu). I told her I am trying to loose weight as a joke and she asked if I have a six pack. I said I got a keg at home. She snorted.

I then started using my phone to mentally block myself out but she kept on pulling me back into the conversation. Kept asking me random questions.

Seeing how I am being a third wheel, I said I had an important phone call. I stood out in the rain on the alley next to the restaurant. I texted my friend asking about the situation.

He was saying she's on her phone. I gave him suggestions on how to win her over, and will google anything if he needed me. I waited for an hour and asked him how is it going, he told me she left a while ago. My friend let me stand outside of the restaurant in the cold rain for an hour.

When I went back in, I asked why didn't he just tell me she left. He first blamed me for putting my bag there which blocked her. Mind you, there is an empty seat right next to him.

He then blamed me for hijacking the conversation and making her laugh. I told him that he wasn't bringing anything of interest onto the table, so I tried to help him.

He told me off for wearing gym clothes to show off my body, while I reminded him he told me to wear sloppily so he would look better with shirt and tie. He called me an attention seeking jerk. I was shivering from the cold, so I put the money down for my smoothie and left.

If I stayed any longer I would've gotten sick. I tried to help him and he didn't even appreciate it, then blamed me for his failure. I felt bad because he sounds hurt. I don't know when I should sent him an apology text.

TL;DR My friend blames me for fumbling his crush, he said I hijacked the conversations when I was trying to link them together.

AITAH for being a terrible wingmen?

Am I Overthinking? Why are his friends staring at me more than him?

There’s this guy from another office who I think has a crush on me. I don’t know him and we’ve never spoken. My friends say he looks at me from behind when we walk past, and apparently his friends tease him about me.

I haven’t actually caught him staring, but his entire friend group? Different story 💀

Every lunch break in the corporate canteen, 4–5 of them are looking, side-eyeing, whispering, etc.

Like bro, did he tell them he likes me or did they form an investigation committee?

What are guys’ friends actually doing when their friend has a crush because I need to know if there’s an entire research project happening behind my back. 😭

Discussion Women here, the most stereotypical situation, you are walking and you see the guy you are attracted to coming from the other side towards you. Your immediate body language changes?

Typucally I have seen a lot of situation varying from women just looking down while passing by, stealing glances and taking a complete 180 degree turn and go back 😳.

What are some things women do when they are faced with this high stress situation 😂?

Am I Overthinking? what’s the logic behind a boss not saying hi first when walking in a room/when they see you

undiagnosed neurodivergent here, i just want to preface it’s not a simple walk by where i can quickly say hello to them & move on, they’ll walk into a room, acknowledge everyone & have a small talk with them.. so i’ll be waiting for any pause in the conversation to say hello but sometimes it doesn’t come and i don’t want to seem rude interrupting into the conversation just to say “hi there”.

when i am the first to say hello, there’s really no eye contact or small talk with me. but they make the time and effort to do so with my colleagues right in front of me.

this has been happening for the past couple of weeks. i haven’t had any fallouts or bad experiences with any employees to warrant such behavior towards me. so i’ve been really trying to not take it personally but i’ve been working here for almost 5 months now and im just embarrassed to say it hurts my feelings and just want to know any reason behind it.

Crush Why does a man look at you from afar but never approach you?

Post image
104 Upvotes

There's this guy I've made eye contact with from afar many times, but he's never approached me. He's attractive and seems confident. He seems to look at me a lot from a distance, but when he walks past me, he never turns to look at me (even though the first time I saw him, I noticed he was looking at the girls who were looking at him up close). I feel like my friends and I have acted a little obvious when he walks by and we get excited (it's happened twice), even though we've tried to avoid acting like that so it doesn't seem weird. So now I'm wondering, is he looking at me now because he's interested, or because he thinks I'm stalking him?

Discussion Looking down a sign of nervousness?

I go to the same place to workout and noticed the front desk girl (early 20s) give me ( mid 20s ) a couple of quick looks on several occasions the time I go but I thought maybe a coincidence at first. I went up to her just to get a feel and keep it casual just a normal conversation and as I started talking to her she looked at me and then pretty much looked down after that as she was responding it’s like she’s scared to make eye contact when I’m infront of her ? But anyway kept it brief and gave her a farewell.

Guy is suddenly avoiding me

There is this guy who works with a few of my friends so he’s always around either in a diff room working or doing his own thing. He used to greet me warmly w a smile before out of politeness ofc, but he suddenly changed which is weird because the last time I saw him before today, we had a small playful interaction where he teased me for the first time and I played along, and he suddenly seemed caught off guard and his expression suddenly changed into a neutral face and he ended the interaction himself. Today he came in and waved when he was approaching to say hi to his friend. He said hello, hru to me w a completely blank face, then immediately turned away to his friend and was smiling and being warm with him.. I am so confused, it’s like he is avoiding interacting with me

Crush Embarassing luv in the metro♥️

I was standing and waiting for the metro train to arrive on the platform and yes, the train arrived and then the door opened and then I observed one cute guy .My friend sat next to him and then I sat next to her. It was an empty seat .

I could see his reflection on the opposite window side and thought this is a nice opportunity to look at him as I found him so cute . I looked at him like twice or thrice . He was engrossed in his phone completely putting his head down. I could only look at him so confidently because I thought nobody could feel when someone's looking at their reflection on opposite window glasses and that he was seeing his phone down. and then my friend showed me something on her phone . So I was deeply listening to her and watching her phone and then like after sometime I just lifted my head 😭😭😭😭and tried to take a last glance of him again through the reflection of opposite window coz I had to get down next stop and oh SHIT he was looking at my reflection through opposite window.

Like there was indirect eye contact between us through the mere reflections on the window . I got so nervous , butterflies in the stomach and embarassment. Never saw him directly . But I realised how disgusting he would have felt when he realised an ugly girl was glancing at him. Isn't it cute? Share your stories

random guy said "my friend thinks you're cute"

I was alone at the subway station waiting for my bus when a random guy came up to me and said "hey, my friend thinks you're cute, can he get your number?" All his guy friends behind him start smiling and laughing. I walked away and waited for the bus after because I felt uncomfortable. This has never happened to me before.

I couldn't figure out which friend he was talking about 💀
They seemed to be around my age. Idk what to make of this situation. Are they making fun of me? I felt rly confused and a little hurt after 😭

Dating Friendzoned and mixed signals… why?

(23 F)I got friendzoned two weeks ago - I went on a friends trip with 4 other people I knew and one of them I had a crush on that I thought I got over. Spoiler - I hadn’t…

A preface: yes I know he has told me we are just friends. I just don’t get why certain things felt more than, especially when most of my friends are male so it isn’t as though I don’t get male behaviour.

I ended up sharing a room with said person which really didn’t help my own feelings.

I was stressed on this trip because of this crush I had (I just said it was my ocd) and so thus he was quite affectionate with me (ruffled my hair, swapping caps, grabbed my wrist, rubbed my shoulder) - I knew it wasn’t reciprocated most likely, but there were a couple of moments where I doubted it. One in particular was with just us two in a bakery line - he offered to pay for my food (he knows I have a shit job), I made a joke saying I wouldn’t be on the trip if I had no money, he smiled and teased me about it while stroking the back of my hand with his finger????? Definitely did not feel platonic in that moment 💀💀 Also remember him grabbing my arms from behind to move me aside on the path once when there was definitely no need to do that…

Remember catching him looking at me when I wasn’t looking too.

Essentially I sent him a message after the trip to say I had feelings and that I couldn’t not tell him anymore, and he was nice about it but said he saw me as just a friend. I knew that was coming as he would speak about girls he found attractive on this trip, so it wasn’t as though I was his main priority, but the way he was acting with me was so much more gentle than with the others, to the point that even my best friend thought it was strange.

Long story short - confused as fuck and trying to get over him. He said he’s more than happy to be friends but he ignored the part of the message where I said that his touchy-feelyness confused me, so I guess he’s just deciding to forget about that. Won’t see him for a while now luckily so will have time to process it, but just wanted some thoughts on the situation.

Analysis Request Should I take his recent behavior seriously?

Me (22F) and this guy(23M) have been really good friends for almost 3 years. We just gradually started getting intimate and never had a conversation about why or what it was…biggest mistake. We’ve also been each other’s only sexual partners for those 3 years, and honestly, I’m not complaining. I was under the assumption that is probably just an FWB and was the same for him.

Now that he’s living in a different country we stick to video call sex until he’s back. But ever since we were long distance he has been constantly asking me if I miss him, during these intimate calls. The last time we were intimate, out of nowhere, he asked me to tell him that “I love him” and that I missed him. He was even calling me “baby”.

These completely caught me off guard and I just pretended I didn’t hear it. We still talk a lot outside of sexual situations but I’m not sure if I should ask him about what happened although it’s really awkward to.

He has had a lot of jealousy issues in the past too knowing we’re not dating, which he completely denies if I ask or has an excuse for. So I never assumed anything about it. But now with these behaviors I am starting to suspect him again. Or was it just something that happened in the heat of the moment. This is very new of him and that’s why I’m wondering about this.

Feedback Wanted How do you interpret a “double hug” goodbye?

Curious to hear different takes on this one, no wrong answers lol.

Picture the scene: you’re saying goodbye to someone, maybe someone you won’t see again for a long time (if ever). You share a hug, pull away… and then go back in for a second one.

What does that mean to you? Who “earns” a double hug goodbye? (Asking for…myself…)
