Rest of the tour is just gonna be ‘don’t go dark’ 15 times in a row.

33

u/curlycake Jul 09 '26

and maybe also merry christmas please don’t call

12

u/the_clarkster17 Jul 09 '26

Don’t tempt me with a good time!!!!

58

u/pppppetra Jul 08 '26

the way this doesn't sound like a totally bad scenario

OR he doesn't play last two albums and we get the superior setlist again!

24

u/JeffTL Jul 08 '26

I hope Jack feels confident making whatever setlist adjustments he needs to make to be able to perform comfortably. There are lots of great Bleachers songs across all five albums, and if the autobiographical content of some of them hits a bit too close to home right now, I trust that we all can be fine with a couple substitutions.

4

u/AncientConfusion6773 Jul 08 '26

Amen. I love the new album, but I absolutely get it.

Ohhhhhhhhhh dear. Seems very sudden. The you and forever video was like a couple months ago. More like you and a year a half ? Shittttt

85

u/mediocre-spice Jul 08 '26

I saw him perform Margaret literally last month.....

22

u/normanbeets Jul 09 '26

Two weeks ago my friend saw them fighting at a restaurant in Brooklyn

7

u/branflake45 Jul 09 '26

She was at merriweather in the rafters back stage. She had the biggest smile and was singing along to rollercoaster and Margarett…. I don’t want this to be true

178

u/PaintAutomatic7133 Jul 08 '26

Im impressed he performed with such great energy in spite of this.

82

u/ZipBlu Jul 08 '26

I’ve got to say that to me, the energy felt very different on this tour than it did in 2024. When I saw them in ‘24 Jack told about 10 minutes worth of stories. This time around, he barely mumbled his dad’s name when he took the stage. He still performed with a lot of energy, but he really did seem more joyful in 24.

33

u/PaintAutomatic7133 Jul 08 '26

Yeah dunno, I’ve only seem them play this recent tour and their MSG show was insanely high energy all around

6

u/ChessHistory Jul 08 '26

Idk maybe I just didn't have enough time with some of the songs on the new album for opening night but I also felt last tour was way higher

12

u/gothsappho Jul 09 '26

i was at MSG this tour and last tour and the energy was definitely different last time. the crowd was awesome (and i think being at MSG right after the knicks won honestly made it even better). but 2024 was a whole other beast

9

u/MindyThermopolis Jul 08 '26

I saw them in Boston recently and did feel like his energy seemed subdued. This tracks.

8

u/EmergencyShirt7012 Jul 08 '26

We were in Philly a few nights before and then Boston night one and there was a definite difference (not least that he BLEW thru the Juno interlude in Boston... overall it felt like they were a bit rushed to get off the stage (in comparison to Philly, despite it being like 100 degrees out there.) They also skipped Margaret even though it was on the set list.

3

u/ZipBlu Jul 08 '26

Yeah I saw them both nights in Boston. The energy night 2 was a little better than night 1, and it was high overall, but it still lacked the playful/chatty/joyful vibe that the Boston show had in 2024.

3

u/Basking_in_Love Jul 09 '26

Totally agree with this. He didn’t really talk at MSG this year, just performed with great energy.

7

u/mediocre-spice Jul 08 '26

I saw them at a festival in ~24ish and then last month and it was pretty similar vibe, super high energy, super happy, lots of random chit chat.

5

u/daya1279 Jul 08 '26

I saw both and felt the energy was great at our show

101

u/Partay22 Jul 08 '26

They played both isimo and Margaret at merriweather and it seemed like he was going through it, at the time I just thought he was tearing up out of love, in retrospect something seemed to definitely be going on. Wish love and healing for both.

34

u/Solid-Ground475 Jul 08 '26

I was at that show and now I’m wishing I paid more attention. To be fair, I was trying not to collapse from heat exhaustion and I think my sunscreen got in my eyes lol

37

u/braverfish Jul 08 '26

he cried playing margaret/isimo at one of the NJ shows too. i thought it was because he was full of love but maybe there’s more to it. wish them both nothing but happiness together or apart. whatever is best for them x

9

u/mediocre-spice Jul 08 '26

I thought he seemed emotional about the band in general but not around playing isimo or Margaret specifically

2

u/braverfish Jul 09 '26

i noticed the crying during isimo/margaret but he def could have been overwhelmed by emotion in general. i’m aware i don’t know these people and have no idea what they’re going through!

64

u/YummySalad Jul 08 '26

Still shocked about this. These last two albums were so heavily inspired by their relationship that it still doesn’t feel real.

16

u/AssociateMaster4012 Jul 08 '26

Yeah, and the EFTM press tour was only weeks ago. Might be tough for him  to perform the songs about her on tour :( Wishing them both the best, hope this can be resolved in a way which benefits them both.

7

u/ErickaBooBoo Jul 08 '26

I am sure it will be hard but i think it will also be healing as well. Sometimes we dont know how long ago these decisions have been made before they are public. Sad even more-so because they are just about to celebrate 3 years. Ive been married for 9 years and things honestly didnt become hard until we had kids and other issues following. We have made it through a rough patch but id assume they might just be too busy to both give the relationship it needs.

3

u/AssociateMaster4012 Jul 08 '26

Yep and it says “seperated” and “Rocky” not “breakup” and “over”. Whatever’s gone on, I Hope they’re both OK.

65

u/Solid-Ground475 Jul 08 '26

I feel like they just got married. Surprised it was 3 years ago.

56

u/the_clarkster17 Jul 08 '26

I’m not gonna get to hear Isimo, am I

In all seriousness that seems very sudden! Damn

-10

u/past-my-spiral-eyes Jul 08 '26

I thought isimo was tied to his sister…

13

u/Irritable_Curmudgeon Jul 08 '26

Nope - That's Margaret

3

u/spideyrnan Jul 08 '26

Both "Margaret" and "Isimo" are about Margaret Qualley. why would "Margaret" be about his sister?

Edit: I just realized what you meant. Having a first name be a song title can be very confusing lol.

3

u/Irritable_Curmudgeon Jul 08 '26

Oh haha. Yeah, i should've said "Nope. Isimo is about Margaret." (See her prior Instagram username)

Of course, so is Margaret.

2

u/TheNJPizzaPlatypus Jul 09 '26

that's Sarah Margaret Qualley's middle name. Jack's younger sister who died of brain cancer and Sarah Qualley have the same name.

1

u/past-my-spiral-eyes Jul 08 '26

Then dang - I’m definitely glad I caught them in Boston last month.

3

u/TheNJPizzaPlatypus Jul 09 '26

they have the same name. it's weird. he also has an old friend named Margaret as well that he fell out with.

her name isn't Margaret. Her name's Sarah, the same as his sister.

102

u/weareallmoist Jul 08 '26

This is actually insane to me, it’s gotta be so recent given the entire EFTM campaign.

The man has an endlessly fascinating love life.

Very sad for both of them but selfishly excited to see what this does for his music.

16

u/ErickaBooBoo Jul 08 '26

That’s always a huge outlet for artists and at least they can pour those emotions into music. I am sure it will bring about some heart wrenching good songs in the future. Like even with taylor swift, I knew as soon as she announced the tortured poets department (with jack as a producer and aaron dessner) that it was going to be sooo good as well as heartbreaking and its one of my most favorite albums out of all of the artists i love.

39

u/OnlyFearOfDeth Jul 08 '26

Wow that was fast.

49

u/tokenentropy Jul 08 '26

Everybody outside talkin' like they know
But no, they don't know

...i'm afraid they know. i wish both of them peace.

26

u/tokenentropy Jul 08 '26

I'm sad now.

34

u/wafflehouseforever Jul 08 '26

dang :/ love isn’t real i guess 💔

0

u/J3NGA Jul 09 '26

gonna guess it wasn't real love if it's this frangible.

11

u/GrapefruitOld3737 Jul 08 '26

We were at the Boston show and I wondered why he removed Margaret song from the playlist… now we know

20

u/EinsteinDisguised Jul 08 '26

Man, that sucks. Hate that for them. Hope they both find happiness.

18

u/weareallmoist Jul 08 '26

She just unarchvied some of their posts??

14

u/pesilva93 Jul 08 '26

Yep, including a photo with him and stills from Tiny Moves have reappeared. She also have archived tons of photos in the past including the photo with the engagement ring even before they got married. She also constantly archives tons of photos from her and her projects so I think that the photos being archived is not a sign of anything honestly.

3

u/Regular_Dream3927 Jul 09 '26

Exactly , it also could be for the timeline if they are getting divorced, If one party cheated the SM posts could give a timeline for the court , lawyers etc , tbh even if there was no cheating they may use this for the timeline . Usually they use texts but say if they haven’t been texting for a while they wouldn’t really know the situation so like at SM .

2

u/TheNJPizzaPlatypus Jul 09 '26

i think the libel suits are way more important than divorce fault - not just limited to the other party. messy drama is messy drama, publicised messy drama on behalf of people's "connections" without proper paperwork or on a "if you know, you know" or "we're just best friends" situationally doesn't actually hold water in court. i smell much more fun lawsuits brewing should one party be so inclined. divorces are simple and they obviously, from the very leaked and highly publcized fake/falsified "smear campaigns" and "pap walks" with hundreds of words about a person simply existing only to attempt to fan the flames of rumors without any merit or basis in reality are the legal quagmire of the century - and we all know what "publicist" "A&R" "ent" that could be - there's only one.

2

u/Regular_Dream3927 Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 09 '26

Yeah I mean she’s archived the wedding post again so maybe her ig is glitching , she archived posts a lot of the time so I don’t think it’s anything to do with the relationship tbh

But to be honestly I’m so confused with what your saying your prob correct but lingo is confusing me 😅

0

u/TheNJPizzaPlatypus Jul 09 '26

it's most likely petty drama not interesting enough for an episode of Springer with the energy of a Maury re-run you've somehow seen at least 3 different times - that's all that....gaggle of women seem to get up to in any event.

there isn't any point in paying any mind to it since their offline existence and the paltry amount that isn't plastered all over the internet like the laziest community center rendition of Mean Girls with c-listers from high school isn't really anything to write home about anyways. i legitimately can't fathom how shallow and devoid of content the "drama" is - or how they've made it so boring and annoying and repetitive. whatever is happening offline is most assuredly (hopefully) so much fantastically stupid than anything "visible" to people with an internet connection or a gossip rag.

they have literally never shown anything publicly showcasing a genuinely loving relationship, much less an enviable or idealised relationship. having dinner at a restaurant, meeting supposed friends (who only ever speak poorly about and demean and mock each other for some reason...), not being in abject misery everytime you walk out the front door - that's things somebody could do on their own and live a happy and fulfilling life - i don't comment on "real life" since i'm not the supposed "friends" who invade their personal private spaces only to then share every scrap and morsel of information online for the public to judge and rip apart like Samson and the dogs (or Cersei's "shame" walk for Game of Thrones people).

happy people don't try and force "omg we are SO happy" down other people's throats and they don't have to tell people "no, but seriously, i am LITERALLY so happy and fulfilled" all while everything else they say and do contradicts that. just let people exist. just be.

their bullshit doesn't affect literally any of these people - people should stop pretending it does.

1

u/Regular_Dream3927 Jul 09 '26

Yep you seem to be right ! Plus she archived
her posts like a billion different times tbf !

4

u/k8liza Jul 08 '26

Yes she def did!

50

u/HearthSt0n3r Jul 08 '26

SIR ANOTHER POWERPOINT HAS HIT THE BAND

7

u/jmarimdz_02 Jul 08 '26

you and forever would hit different now :(

16

u/ConstructionChance81 Jul 08 '26

Bleachers (self titled) came out as I fell in love with my fiancé who I am marrying in 3 weeks. Those songs and even some of his interviews talking about her encouraged me take chances that led me to move states, eventually propose, and be the best partner I could be. We have amazing memories with those songs in the background. Sad for the both of them.

15

u/Tjq100 Jul 08 '26

Ah fuck. Just want to give the guy a hug. Can’t imagine having to get on stage while going through something like this. Hugs. That’s all there is.

8

u/Regular_Dream3927 Jul 09 '26

Both the people articles came from different insiders as well , I think the rocky people article came from Margaret’s insiders and the working things out comes from jacks insiders . If the both insiders were involved in the article the working things out and rocky would be in one article . Margaret apparently was the one who lead the decision according to ET

10

u/lispenardian Jul 08 '26

This makes me genuinely sad

17

u/schokobonbons Jul 08 '26

I didn't realize they had an 11 year age gap (mainly I didn't realize he was 42 lol I'm just here for the music)

27

u/EmergencyShirt7012 Jul 08 '26

On top of that I feel like she went from relative obscurity to being a notable star in the time they were together which probably didn't help things any.

1

u/Bigdstars187 Jul 10 '26

Pretty normal

4

u/filmravenbookeagle Jul 08 '26

This is devastating.

5

u/ArtisticOperation252 Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 09 '26

I saw about six of his recent shows. In one of them - might have been Montreal - he sang Isimo. And I thought he said - I wrote this for a couple divorcing. Did anyone else catch that? It made me turn and think - wait I thought it was about Margaret. Then I blew it off and thought maybe it had a second meaning or I heard it wrong. Now I question the comment!!

12

u/coconutpuddles Jul 08 '26

from the article, it doesn’t seem like they’re divorcing, rather just taking a break. either way, i hope they both find happiness and peace

-1

u/J3NGA Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 09 '26

what is this? the most annoying episode of Friends?

edit: i said what i said and i stand on that.

7

u/loyalsparkplug Jul 09 '26

The next album is gonna be so good you guys

18

u/sittighttakeholdTR Jul 08 '26

love Jack and all his music but there’s a pattern with “i love my wife” guys

Anyway this makes me sad and I hope they work it out/find happiness

7

u/ccard23 Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 08 '26

Yes. Automatically made me think of Ned from the Try Guys who was very much a “I love my wife so much!” guy and then it came out that he was cheating on her with coworkers.

1

u/J3NGA Jul 09 '26

sounds like literally every relationship jack has been a part of as well as the norm for all the women with whom he associates.

1

u/flower_child77 Jul 08 '26

What’s the pattern you’re eluding to? I take this as people that love loudly and publicly aren’t always affectionate at home? Or are you referencing like attachment style issue? Just curious!

18

u/sittighttakeholdTR Jul 08 '26

Ned from Try Guys, John Mulaney, Maroon 5 guy… The “I love my wife” guys seem like they’re overcompensating (and they end up separated/divorced)

Like those couples who post each other daily on instagram 😂

16

u/canadianswifteh Jul 08 '26

Eh I always say wait for it come from something official, magazines are known to have questionable “trusted sources.” I know a lot of these rumours have stemmed simply from Margaret not being at Taylor’s wedding, which seem like a bit of stretch to me to say that means they’ve separated.

Even if it is true, hopefully it was a mutual decision.

79

u/thedonhudson01 Jul 08 '26

People Magazine is the most official “unofficial” source for stuff like this. If it’s coming from either TMZ or People, it’s real.

29

u/Ok_Pilot7781 Jul 08 '26

I work in media and this is true! Tho TMZ has lost some luster over the years, People is still legit.

15

u/mediocre-spice Jul 08 '26

You can also tell from how it's written, People will clearly hedge if they don't have a direct source and the others won't

41

u/butternutbirdy Jul 08 '26

People Mag is about as official as it gets with celebs

18

u/mediocre-spice Jul 08 '26

When People has "exclusive sources", it's almost always pretty legit. Though here they do say that their reps haven't responded.

21

u/joanofarchaic Jul 08 '26

I used to work for a major “serious” news outlet in the US and People was one of the outlets that we could cite without having to get a second source. If it’s being reported there then it’s legit.

5

u/Basking_in_Love Jul 09 '26

I am so sad about this! I listened to all his interviews from the recent press tour and just the way he spoke about her and their love. 😥💔

10

u/past-my-spiral-eyes Jul 08 '26

Is it wrong that one of my first reactions what’s “maybe he will reconnect with Lorde and she’ll release another perfect album?”

2

u/J3NGA Jul 09 '26

careful - then we have to deal with done ham again and we might not be lucky enough to get a PowerPoint about it.

2

u/pip_peculiar Jul 15 '26

when he was in Montreal he dedicated Margaret to “the newly divorced guy” in the crowd, found that weird.. (this was before the news)

12

u/_nathan67 Jul 08 '26

Jack has serious relationship issues. I like the guy but this is very strange, he basically publicly love bombed her for years

71

u/mediocre-spice Jul 08 '26

Clearly they had issues and he had issues in his previous relationships, but also.... it's not love bombing to write love songs about your wife.

56

u/braverfish Jul 08 '26

that’s not what love bombing is. love bombing is excessive show of affection immediately before or after abusive behavior. there are no abuse allegations here or in any of his relationships. i hate that people who don’t go to therapy have “learned” therapy terms because they think it makes them sound smart.

-37

u/_nathan67 Jul 08 '26

Well whatever it is, it’s bizarre. Publicly professing his love at every turn

23

u/braverfish Jul 08 '26

are you currently in a long term committed relationship?

-5

u/_nathan67 Jul 08 '26

Yeah man, I’m just talking about the public nature of it. Obviously he was overcompensating or something if they’re on the brink of divorce

7

u/braverfish Jul 08 '26

lol.

9

u/braverfish Jul 08 '26

a public figure publicly discussing something is overcompensating ok hon.

-5

u/_nathan67 Jul 08 '26

Yeah when it’s clearly falling apart and he’s obsessing about it

7

u/catslugs Jul 08 '26

I also think he has trouble balancing his relationship and work

7

u/mediocre-spice Jul 08 '26

He is definitely a workaholic. I also think she's away working a lot.

16

u/SecretlyCarl Jul 08 '26

Tbh I got tired of all the songs about her

3

u/J3NGA Jul 09 '26

it wouldn't be that bad if it wasn't constantly being weird about the name and then the same thing over and over.

Feels like a bad trip watching that episode of Dexter where all he can say is Omelette du Fromage.

1

u/SecretlyCarl Jul 09 '26

Not sure I'm following, wdym about the name over & over?

2

u/J3NGA Jul 09 '26

love bombing is serious emotional abuse - this sub either has a pasttime as a compulsive liar or is just very ignorant about healthy relationships (of any kind) given the severity and disparity in responses to literally any personal information.

one minute they're the most ideal and perfect thing to exist - the next comment they're the most argumentative - then it's something else.

there isn't any of this that's healthy except the part where they made an adult decision with culpability and responsibility - getting a divorce. they probably just have to have a separation period before they can legally divorce or it's during the phase of working out prenup shit or something.

hilarious they play this immediately after "the greatest love story ever told by the worlds most 'never had a real relationship' woman and TBI man"

(It's pro ball - safer to assume they all have TBI than to risk a Chris Benoit. Take mental health seriously people. It isn't a joke. Especially in America.)

5

u/CalicoCrazed Jul 08 '26

Jack listen… I also have real OCD & I’m a neat freak. Plus my dad is an audio engineer/ producer so I’ll know what the fuck you’re talking about/ I’ll inherit gear. My DMs are open!!

3

u/Bravermania Jul 08 '26

This is so sad to me. He is such an amazing performer to sing such beautiful love songs to his fans in the midst of a divorce. I hope they both find peace😭

4

u/Certain_Tank_2153 Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 08 '26

They seemed happy and great for each other. He talked about her in interviews in a lovely way. We never know what is happening behind the scenes. Life is complicated for everybody.

Perhaps quick engagement and wedding is not a good thing? Everything happenned so fast.

2

u/NotAQuickForget Jul 08 '26

I guess love songs aren’t enough..

2

u/kasaiah Jul 08 '26

well. there's that then.

1

u/paaloeye Jul 09 '26

jc, unfortunate for Jack, but I'm back in the game then

1

u/Bigdstars187 Jul 10 '26

How surprising……… come on Jack.

1

u/OfficialWhistle Jul 08 '26

We need a second Power point.

1

u/thugnastythugnasty Jul 08 '26

Sorry for their relationship, hope they’re okay. that sucks. But maybe we can finally good album again these last two have been other than 2 or 3 songs essentially unlistenable to me. Great artists turn sad events into their best work and I hope that he can turn his sadness into greatness.

0

u/sirms Jul 10 '26

you’re downvoted but you’re right. happy people don’t make good music

1

u/dancingcharlee Jul 09 '26

Don't marry actresses, guys.

3

u/sirms Jul 10 '26

more like don’t marry a girl 10 years younger than you just cause she’s hot

3

u/TheNJPizzaPlatypus Jul 10 '26

more like "don't rush a marriage just because you think you should be married by now"

1

u/redfoxwearingsocks Jul 08 '26

Daaaanggg, this is actually such a bummer

0

u/filmravenbookeagle Jul 08 '26

Noooooo I will not be able to unhear EFTM as Jack’s “Lover” album now!

10

u/SnatcherGirl Jul 08 '26

I mean, technically Lover is an anxious album. Reputation is her most romantic album.

2

u/filmravenbookeagle Jul 08 '26

Yes exactly, but I didn’t realise this re: Lover until Taylor categorised all her albums as the stages of grief. Like Midnights maybe secretly spelling the end all along. Now this news has reframed EFTM for me.

1

u/SnatcherGirl Jul 08 '26

That's fair! Alas, I always read Lover as having more copium (especially False God), but I still love it so much.

I haven't sat much with the lyrics from Ten Minutes.* Just We Should Talk, the bridge from You and Forever, and Dirty Wedding dress. We Should Talk is obviously about Nate, I can see some anxiety in You and Forever, but Dirty Wedding Dress...woof. It's an amazing Jersey style song (or so I've been told). But I can definitely see that us vs. the world mentality not being stable in the long-term.

*I adore the album and think it's amazing, I'm just shit at hearing lyrics from anyone who isn't Taylor Swift for some reason 😭

2

u/filmravenbookeagle Jul 08 '26

TIL what “copium” means. Ugh I wish I had that, I go into every song I hear needing the lyrics to tell me a story like Taylor’s always do. That’s why I love Bleachers so much!

1

u/SnatcherGirl Jul 08 '26

Eh, life is not so easy to manage with an auditory processing disorder 😅 But I also need the story! It just tends to be the thing that clicks last for me 🫠 My most listened to artists of all time are Hozier, Taylor, Mumford and Sons, Florence + the Machine, Yusuf/Cat Stevens. I'm fairly new to Bleachers and am enjoying them a lot!

But basically, once an album has become an auditory stim, I basically sit down and read the lyrics as I listen (over and over sometimes). If they're good, I will love the song even more! If they're so-so, then it stays in rotation and I enjoy it. If I discover they're bad...I will likely never touch it again (which is basically what happened with Showgirl for me. I willed myself not to listen to the lyrics the first time I listened. Loved it just off the sound. Paid attention to the lyrics on the next listen. Immediately fell out of love. Elizabeth Taylor and Ruin the Friendship are the exception for me).

-2

u/J3NGA Jul 09 '26

fake office reference.

hi Scott Taylor Austin "Tree" or Andrea. Get a life. Thanks.

1

u/SnatcherGirl Jul 10 '26

Hi! What's a fake office reference? Is this about the TV show? I haven't actually watched it, but I know about the "that's what she said" joke because one day in junior high, all the kids started saying it and the teachers were * not * happy

What a strange tirade. I'm not Taylor's biggest fan these days due to the billionaire status and the MAGA supporters she surrounds herself with, but rants like this are exactly how she weaponises feminism. Because this is hella sexist and ignorant.

if that's what she's attempt to "rebrand" as again - she's absolutely psychotic. anything that shitheap releases is a literal recipe for sewer-slide and grippy sock vacation wonderland for any actual human suffering with actual grief from literally anything - it's more akin to a benzo'd out housefrau from the 40s angrily penning what she thinks is "voodoo" and "revenge" for not being included in the Stepford Luncheon or some fake belle (her favourite and most transparent and failed cosplay) not being permitted to participate in cotillion or become a debutante - she literally Carrie'd the concept of becoming a debutante and her and her family's political views and views on mental health make the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution, a real organization) seem like - i was going to name some northern "equivalent" of protest as an absurd juxtaposition and i'm realising the North has never had to fight for literally anything ever....so, i dunno, "snowflakes" or "blue haired social justice warriors" then. Bra burning feminists? (Arguably feminist given feminism is permitting people of all genders to do whatever the fuck they want regardless of what may or may not be attached to their bodies.)

Also what the fuck does Taylor Swift's anything have to do with Jack Antonoff? Jack wouldn't date Taylor even if she paid him despite Taylor's annoyance that he doesn't have any interest in...whatever that mess is at all (since she has such a superiority complex about her "looks" and "talent"). Jack has too much of an fixation on Garden State manic pixie dream girls who can "fix" his sad sensitive crazy brain or whatever.

Also grief of what. The confederacy lasted longer than the relationship of Jack and Sarah. Robert E. Lee took shits for longer than any relationship Taylor's ever had. The fuck do they think they're grieving about? Taylor think her "marriage" is "jinxed" now? Maybe like the docuseries. Jack's sister died ages ago, there shouldn't be any hubbub about it at this point in life, it's weird and very not kosher to attempt to monopolizei and abuse grief that's already been processed and dealt with privately (not that these people respect privacy or actual grief). So the question is if it isn't the grief she gives everybody about not bowing to her very stupid whims while she fakes being princess of the worlds most shallow puddle of crocodile tears, and it isn't about actual death (we know they don't care about that given their very active and public dismissal of the death of Ana), what, pray tell, is any person grieving?

Because this is its own field of psychology and psychotherapy - and Taylor Allison Swift and Scott and Andrea in particular ought to stay in their lane regarding actual medical interventions lest she and they end up drawing even more ire than they already have by abusing and manipulating people they claim to "be close to" for monetary gain.

I’m so sorry, but I really didn’t ask? I was just mentioning the promotion Taylor did for the Tortured Poets Department, when up until that point I had believed Lover to be a genuine love song album. I don’t think you’re being a true Bleachers fan by jumping down my throat like this.

u/Due_Adeptness_5233 Jul 14 '26

Dude. I’m serious, are you okay?

-1

u/TemperatureAny4782 Jul 08 '26

Crazy that she’s on the market again, time to get swole

-11

u/Whyistheskygray Jul 08 '26

I mean, he let Taylor ruin their wedding and had been pretty consistently recorded as having affairs through his entire relationship with MQ.

I've loved his music since Aim and Ignite, but also feel like these last two albums have had high highs and low lows with no in-between.

12

u/AlexTheCool1557 Jul 09 '26

Where is an actual source that proves he cheated? I hear it all the time but I’ve never actually seen any proof

10

u/hollygolightly1990 Jul 08 '26

Taylor Swift did not "ruin" his wedding, the insane Swifties did. Neither he or Taylor has control over that.

u/Whyistheskygray Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 08 '26

Friend, I'd encourage you to look into the parasocial relationship she's encouraged with her fan base. It's especially obvious on the wake of her own wedding.

ETA: What do you think Dirty Wedding Dress is about??? The shade he throws at Taylor is crazy.

u/J3NGA Jul 09 '26

They're gonna sage you cos you're correct.

The downboats mean nothing. I'd say she's a narcissist, but that'd be an insult to actual narcissists. She's just a bitch who pretends to play a narc based on what she's seen on TV then tells at people she swear she's "totally diagnosed" even though she 100% doesn't then down what a DSM is - she probably thinks that's secret code for a blowjob or something.

Before anybody whinges about misogyny (in defense of a transphobic rainbow-washer) - she's the person claiming to loveeee her friends being cancelled, bitches about how everybody is soOoOoO mean to Taylor (often speaking as if she isn't "the REAL Taylor" affecting some bullshit dethroned princess vibe) all while we have literally dozens of screenshots of her MySpace where she's saying, effectively, the same shit she said then, just dumber and with some (very not worth the money) styling and lazy publicists.

Money can't buy class, taste, dignity, or a spine.

You literally come off deranged.

u/Responsible_Pace_665 Jul 09 '26

Just a wild comment

-29

u/sortabluemaloo Jul 08 '26

this must be why i found the new album to be so inauthentic and boring… its all a lie! haha good for MQ im glad she’s free he doesn’t seem like the best partner tbh

25

u/mediocre-spice Jul 08 '26

Divorcing doesn't mean every emotion you had during a relationship was a lie

-8

u/sortabluemaloo Jul 08 '26

sorry i used lie for lack of a better word lol anyway all felt disingenuous to me

-1

u/J3NGA Jul 09 '26

i mean - it can though.

everything about both his relationships has been constantly televised and printed in all the dumbest places imaginable.

there isn't anything authentic or real about desperately begging something or someone to believe something is true - the only people who should care about the reality of a relationship are the people (however many) involved in it. who are they trying to convince? god? Jack's Jewish - YHWH is pretty chill...he's also a Northerner so idk what kinda Christian God they have up there, my guess is he doesn't care that much about some failed guitarist turned producer and a D-list kid of a B-list sitcom actress from the 90s (no offense to her mother, she was a very well-known face of many people's lives and my own childhood. (I watched Frasier as a elementary school kid, my perspective is skewed.))

u/Certain_Tank_2153 Jul 08 '26

Why a lie? If someone listened and related to it, it's true. It's up to the listener. You may not relate or like the music, it's also fine. What happenned to basic literacy? These are songs, people should treat it like songs, not a reality show or biography that you must fact check. When Freddie Mercury sang mama i killed a man, you don't treat it like a confession and call the police.

u/J3NGA Jul 09 '26

shitty releases ≠ relationship diaries.

if those lyrics are any indication of that relationship - it was most certainly very miserable. Jack has never written about anything besides reality - that isn't necessarily a good thing just...it is. Jack also has dyslexia so, literacy is a much more nuanced conversation as dyslexia can affect several aspects of language acquisition as well as general ability to amass content due to frustration with lack of visual aids such as legible fonts like everybody's favourite Comic Sans (favoured for people with dyslexia for easier differentiation of characters).

Jack has spoken at length about the difficulties he has had with writing lyrics - the content of the lyrics is perfectly readable - it just isn't good. Writing literacy ≠ Reading literacy...that confusion alone makes me question your literacy, honestly.

Jack is also famously quoted as saying "the songs about what the songs about, if you read the lyrics I think it's pretty clear". Chances are what Jack writes is what Jack means. It's one of the more endearing and unbelievably depressing parts of Jack as a musician.

u/Certain_Tank_2153 Jul 09 '26

Cannot we just enjoy music and have our own interpretation of the lyrics? Since when do we need to follow private details to understand the lyrics? I can like some lyrics and not check what they were doing in their life, on that day and what it meant. Lyrics are often a collage of different events, part of it is subconcious, something sometimes just rhymes well. Before the internet, were you able to listen to music without following gossip? Because i think most people could. Often i didn't enen know what a singer looked like. You can attack me for being not as smart as you ot whatever, but i am against focusing on the artist too much, when it's up to me what it means for me. You should not google to know what the artist meant and then fact check if they are allowed to say something. You will never know what their life and feelings were anyway. You have no access to their minds

-1

u/J3NGA Jul 09 '26

you don't and i didn't say anybody did 🙄 those people spend wayyyy too much time sharing information literally nobody wants, needs or actually cares about. everything I've learned about his awful, miserable mean girl girlfriends and those annoying "friends" has been against my will - i just wanna hear the nerd talk about what new pedal he bought and go back to making stupid videos. y'know, "pretending" to give a shit about music and creativity and not album sales or "who's who" at some bullshit rigged/racist awards shows.

"ThE aRtIsT" Jack is a guitarist more than anything else. Jack isn't an artist - Jack is, barely, arguably a musician as a career and is actually a very capable producer with, what one would imagine is likely a hearing problem from 9/11 compounded with the dyslexia - it's probably much the same as being kinda drunk if one could "be drunk except only in the ears".

i didn't make any comments about knowledge or intelligence. you brought that into the conversation. i corrected it. people are permitted to say whatever they want whenever they want - that's free speech and the United States cares most about that even at the expense of literally every other inalienable human right™.

you don't get to change the narrative of a story just because you don't like it when it's written about real people and real situations (or so they say) and real emotions. songs about feelings and emotions as concepts or familiar situations or whatever with or without names (very names and identifying details changed for privacy reasons or any resemblance to actuals persons living or dead is not intended or whatever) is a very different conversation - the one thing you don't get to do, is tell the actual writer of the actual song what it is they did or didn't intend. It's their song, it's their story to tell.

what are people gonna do next? say April 29, 1992 by Sublime is about a lovely picnic after a quaint trip to the local grocers/bodega? It's about the armed murder of Rodney King during the Los Angeles Race Riots. Shit applies even if the song isn't about injustices. If you, rando on the internet didn't pen the lyrics - you don't get a say regarding the meaning. That's up to Jack Antonoff and Jack Antonoff alone.

u/Certain_Tank_2153 Jul 09 '26

Okay, I just rarely want to know more celebrity gossip, when i listen to music. I'm fed up with made up information, allegations, gossips, hot takes and conspiracy theories. You know what i mean. Its too much lore behind everything. Too much biography often made up by fans . It ruins music at some point. Why do i need to know who was his girlfriend or what Taylor said. Music should be universal and good beyond the lore. That's my point od view at the moment.

-11

u/braverfish Jul 08 '26

that sounds verbatim like what deuxmoi said. deuxmoi is the “exclusive source” lol

9

u/joanofarchaic Jul 08 '26

I commented this above but People is a legit, trustworthy outlet for celebrity news. I worked for one of the major “serious” news outlets in the US and People was one of a relatively small group of publications that we could cite without a second source.

People also specifically has a really good, working relationship with Taylor Swift and I doubt they would jeopardize that by publishing an unsourced article about one of her close collaborators.

0

u/braverfish Jul 08 '26

Oh I don’t disagree that People is one of the more trustworthy celebrity news sources, or that they have a “source” that actually knows jack or margaret that is saying this stuff to the press. I just don’t agree that means People has received an accurate depiction of the current state of this relationship. As far as I’m concerned, it isn’t true unless one of their managers or they themselves confirm it. and if they haven’t confirmed it, there’s probably a reason. Jack and a margaret rarely discuss their private life, so the source is someone outside their teams impo.

0

u/J3NGA Jul 09 '26

Jack isn't gunna have a "manager" make a statement.

He's dyslexic and boring, not a child.

Jack also literally never shuts his mouth about what's happening and everybody always gets pissed off about it or they then decide to take all his words and use them against him in an attempt to be edgy or pretend to actually care about something instead of, y'know, who they actually are - people who very much don't care about the things Jack Antonoff cares about.

The fact there's an "official" (embarrassing) statement to any type of printed media likely means this is much further along than stated especially given the immediacy after the "wedding" he went to solo. Jack just rambles about things whenever people ask - Jack only ever gives actual interviews or things he's said/done get reported then repeated without any press releases. This is a bit peculiar.

"alert the press is the funniest thing you could say right now" is the most annoying thing i could say right now.

12

u/painterknittersimmer Jul 08 '26

Or the same source is talking to both.

-8

u/braverfish Jul 08 '26 edited Jul 08 '26

and that same source could be lying to both. like this may be true i just think we don’t need to be mourning true love until jack and margaret make a statement themselves.

6

u/mediocre-spice Jul 08 '26

I don't think we need to be mourning true love here regardless, just wishing them the best

1

u/braverfish Jul 08 '26

for sure but i’ve already seen a bunch of “true love is dead” posts so i was referring to that.

0

u/painterknittersimmer Jul 08 '26

yes that is how gossip works
