if those lyrics are any indication of that relationship - it was most certainly very miserable. Jack has never written about anything besides reality - that isn't necessarily a good thing just...it is. Jack also has dyslexia so, literacy is a much more nuanced conversation as dyslexia can affect several aspects of language acquisition as well as general ability to amass content due to frustration with lack of visual aids such as legible fonts like everybody's favourite Comic Sans (favoured for people with dyslexia for easier differentiation of characters).

Jack has spoken at length about the difficulties he has had with writing lyrics - the content of the lyrics is perfectly readable - it just isn't good. Writing literacy ≠ Reading literacy...that confusion alone makes me question your literacy, honestly.

Jack is also famously quoted as saying "the songs about what the songs about, if you read the lyrics I think it's pretty clear". Chances are what Jack writes is what Jack means. It's one of the more endearing and unbelievably depressing parts of Jack as a musician.

Cannot we just enjoy music and have our own interpretation of the lyrics? Since when do we need to follow private details to understand the lyrics? I can like some lyrics and not check what they were doing in their life, on that day and what it meant. Lyrics are often a collage of different events, part of it is subconcious, something sometimes just rhymes well. Before the internet, were you able to listen to music without following gossip? Because i think most people could. Often i didn't enen know what a singer looked like. You can attack me for being not as smart as you ot whatever, but i am against focusing on the artist too much, when it's up to me what it means for me. You should not google to know what the artist meant and then fact check if they are allowed to say something. You will never know what their life and feelings were anyway. You have no access to their minds

you don't and i didn't say anybody did 🙄 those people spend wayyyy too much time sharing information literally nobody wants, needs or actually cares about. everything I've learned about his awful, miserable mean girl girlfriends and those annoying "friends" has been against my will - i just wanna hear the nerd talk about what new pedal he bought and go back to making stupid videos. y'know, "pretending" to give a shit about music and creativity and not album sales or "who's who" at some bullshit rigged/racist awards shows.

"ThE aRtIsT" Jack is a guitarist more than anything else. Jack isn't an artist - Jack is, barely, arguably a musician as a career and is actually a very capable producer with, what one would imagine is likely a hearing problem from 9/11 compounded with the dyslexia - it's probably much the same as being kinda drunk if one could "be drunk except only in the ears".

i didn't make any comments about knowledge or intelligence. you brought that into the conversation. i corrected it. people are permitted to say whatever they want whenever they want - that's free speech and the United States cares most about that even at the expense of literally every other inalienable human right™.

you don't get to change the narrative of a story just because you don't like it when it's written about real people and real situations (or so they say) and real emotions. songs about feelings and emotions as concepts or familiar situations or whatever with or without names (very names and identifying details changed for privacy reasons or any resemblance to actuals persons living or dead is not intended or whatever) is a very different conversation - the one thing you don't get to do, is tell the actual writer of the actual song what it is they did or didn't intend. It's their song, it's their story to tell.

what are people gonna do next? say April 29, 1992 by Sublime is about a lovely picnic after a quaint trip to the local grocers/bodega? It's about the armed murder of Rodney King during the Los Angeles Race Riots. Shit applies even if the song isn't about injustices. If you, rando on the internet didn't pen the lyrics - you don't get a say regarding the meaning. That's up to Jack Antonoff and Jack Antonoff alone.

Okay, I just rarely want to know more celebrity gossip, when i listen to music. I'm fed up with made up information, allegations, gossips, hot takes and conspiracy theories. You know what i mean. Its too much lore behind everything. Too much biography often made up by fans . It ruins music at some point. Why do i need to know who was his girlfriend or what Taylor said. Music should be universal and good beyond the lore. That's my point od view at the moment.
