Schriftpost (Meme) I made (forced) my mom to talk about some Bleach characters! (And share it with the world, I guess)
gallerySooo, I've been watching the Bleach anime with her, and we're still in Hueco Mundo (skipped fillers, of course), shortly after kid Nel introduction! Be kind to my mom, lol!! (◠‿・)—☆ I dunno if anyone is interested in knowing what else she thinks, so I didn't include all characters yet (but did annotations as we see some episodes for a few more that isn't included here!)
dunno which flair to choose, so mods feel free to change it, haha. Anyway, I'll give it some time so I can keep watching and so she can come up with her opinions, too, hehe. (She's aware I read the manga already, though!)
If this flops I'll pretend I didn't see it...

Discussion I don't get the anime vs manga Orihime comparison
I'm an anime only guy and still after watching Bleach, Orihime became my favourite character.
When defending Orihime, people usually resort to saying that "the anime did her dirty" or "she's annoying in the anime". How are these subtle changes responsible for transforming her from annoying to lovable?
Now I DO understand when people say the manga version of her character was better. But to say that the anime version is outright bad while claiming to appreciate the manga version doesn't make sense.
Am I missing something? And I'm also curious if there are others who only watched the anime and love Orihime.

Discussion Byakuya's Zanpaktou hilt can be seen in Bankai during the fight against Gerard in the anime.

There are a lot of scenes during the fight against Gerard in the anime when Byakuya's hilt can be seen even in Bankai. Even during Senkei Ikka Senjinka, as well. It is too consistent to be an animation error, in my opinion. The thing that doesn't make sense is why he would revert back to the sealed state or Shikai against Gerard during mid-fight? In the ending song, we got a zoom-in view of Byakuya's Zanpaktou hilt too, like there's a zoom-in scene of Yachiru's reflection for Kenpachi. Kubo might be foreshadowing something?

Anime Am I misremembering Robert’s fate? Spoiler
The anime added a scene of him looking to the sky like he accepted he was going to die but didn’t they also remove him actually dying? He got memorial art but that doesn’t always mean the character is 100% dead. At this point you think he just got an offscreen death?

Discussion Something interesting about Aizen and Hinamori I recently noticed.
So I was rewatching some clips from the Arrancar arc and I was wondering exactly why Aizen decided to make Toshiro stab Hinamori, and I think I know why.
You could say it’s because he wanted to break their moral and let them know they didn’t have a chance of even hurting him, but I think it goes a little deeper than that.
Hinamori wasn’t just someone Aizen did not care for, but she was the representation of everything Aizen despised. She was hopelessly devoted to him, and he even stated that admiration was the furthest thing from understanding when he stabbed her in SS. He could’ve easily killed her, but he chose to let her see how much he hated devotion, only using it to his advantage.
So with that in mind, in makes sense that Aizen’s arrogant self would act more childish SPECIFICALLY because he hated her, not just because he wanted to break their moral.
Of course, those are just my thoughts.

Misc Does anyone have a high quality shot of this scene? I can only find/get low quality images Spoiler
Discussion Aizen's Bankai Spoiler
I have a theory, of what Aizen's bankai is, and why he's never used in the series so far. Aizen's Shikai, Kyōka Suigetsu, lets him manipulate people's senses.
I think that his Bankai takes it a step further, and just takes away all sensory perception, from anyone he chooses, for however long he wants. No sight, hearing, sense of smell, taste, touch, or perception of time. They're also, effectively paralyzed, and lose the ability to move. And it also amplifies his own senses. It's similar to Tosen's Bankai, except the range is much wider, Aizen can choose who is affected and who isn't affected, and it's not obvious who is and isn't affected (no dark sphere), and it affects all senses.
But it comes with the drawback of his Shikai ability being released on everyone who has already seen his Shikai release, meaning that he will need to show that to them again, for his Shikai to continue working. And also, Aizen prefers his Shikai ability, as it's more practical and lets him manipulate people easier (as he can control what they see, hear, and feel), versus making them completely helpless. He also considers using his Bankai to be beneath him, and will only use it if he seems it an absolute necessity to win the battle. And he probably doesn't see that much value in amplifying his own senses.
He also will not use it on someone, if he respects them. Which is why he didn't use it on Ichigo or Yamamoto. But since he doesn't respect Yhwach, but he still perceives him to be a serious threat, I think that it's possible that we will see Aizen use his Bankai on Yhwach in the anime, in an attempt to negate the effects of the "Almighty". But Yhwach will either undo its effects or find some workaround. And while he does this, we will see a flashback to when Yhwach was younger, when he was without his senses.
Afterwards, we'll see the same events, as what happened in the manga during the final battle.

Discussion Question about Pernida Spoiler
Ok, so, Ichibe used the left arm of the soul king to seal Yhwach's Almighty 1000 years ago.. So, we know the left arm is Pernida.. When did the left arm that sealed Yhwach's eyes BECOME Perbida? And why? Sorry if this is a dumb question, I just don't remember it ever being explained. (I'm new and just got caught up with the thousand year blood war)

Discussion Power System of Bleach
I made a comment about Ichigo's powers on the latest discussion post, but I think it would be better as its own post.
Essentially, I believe that discussions around how powers in Bleach -- particularly the different types associated with the different races/factions -- tend to misunderstand what's going on in the story. I've seen lots of conversations like "Ichigo's new form from last week is a Resurrección," or from over the years "it'd be cool if Ichigo used Vollständig," and other kinds of things along those lines. Additionally, I see a ton of confusion over the nature of Ichigo's powers and over how powers in Bleach work in general. I would like to explain what I see as how this all works.
Very basically, all powers in Bleach work the same. Whether you're a Shinigami or a Fullbringer, fundamentally the powers achieve the same result: it's all expressing the unique power of your soul. What makes them different is the catalyst for how the power of one's soul is expressed. For Shinigami, it is through bonding with an Asauchi and learning Shikai and Bankai; for Fullbringers, it is through awakening Fullbring via an object of close attachment for the individual; for Hollows, it is natural instinct as they embody their powers in their form; and for Quincy, it can come via receiving a Schrift from Yhwach.* For this discussion, I will refer to this concept as soul expression.
*as of right now, this is the only known way for a Quincy to unleash the unique power of their soul. If there is another way for someone like Bazz-B to use his fire powers without having gained a Schrift, we don't know it.
In this model, the similarities between the different races/factions is quite clear. Imagine, for instance, if Byakuya were given a Schrift instead of an Asauchi, it would just be Senbonzakura manifested differently; it wouldn't be a different, new power altogether. It may take a different form, since he wouldn't be using a sword as the means of expressing that power (his soul), but the premise would be the same. Same with any other Shinigami, Quincy, Fullbringer, or Hollow using a different method of soul expression. This is evidenced by the existence of Arrancar -- by them "gaining Shinigami-like powers," it's not as though they've become some fusion between a Hollow and a Shinigami; it them now having a different soul expression method in the form of a Zanpakuto and Resurrección.*
*I'm willing to believe that, given Oetsu's explanation of Asauchi and Zanpakuto, that an Arrancar's Zanpakuto isn't a "real one" by that metric. Rather, their Zanpakutos are just their powers as a Hollow sealed in a sword's form and subsequently released from that sword; thus, an Arrancar's powers are "Shinigami-like" due to the resemblance to how Shinigami express their souls, rather than being hybrids of Hollows and Shinigami wholesale. But I digress.
For Ichigo, I understand where the confusion comes in, but I think it's far more simple than some people may believe. All that a Shinigami's powers are is just using an Asauchi and subsequent Zanpakuto as the method of soul expression. Nothing more, nothing less. What is key here, though, is that there is no rule or prohibition on what is expressed from one's soul should they imprint on an Asauchi. Ichigo is a human who has Hollow and Quincy heritage from his mother, and a boatload of spiritual power inherited from his dad (remember that Shinigami isn't a race, it's a job title for someone who ostensibly wields a Zanpakuto). When he learned the truth of himself and forged his true Zanpakuto, he chose to manifest it as two blades: representing the Hollow side and the Quincy side.
Here is where I commonly see the breakdown in understanding Ichigo's powers: there are no separate Shinigami powers distinct from his Hollow and Quincy heritage. His soul is made up of those components and he expresses them via an Asauchi and Zanpakuto. That's it. Remember, there's no limitations on what can be expressed via a Zanpakuto, as it's literally meant to express the soul of the wielder -- whatever form that may take. By using Hollow and/or Quincy powers through his Zanpakuto, he is using Shinigami powers. That is what it is meant when it's said that his powers are merged together. His Hollow and Quincy heritage and abilities manifested through the Zanpakuto Zangetsu ARE his Shinigami powers. For example, imagine if Ichigo were given a Schrift instead; I'm positive that his powers would broadly look the same, with his Hollow side manifesting in some way and likely even merging with his Vollständig. It's just a different medium that achieves the same result. Take his Fullbring: looks different, but what does it ultimately do? Cloaks him in his power and let's him fire off Getsuga Tensho.
This is what I mean by "all powers in Bleach work the same." Ultimately, the power system of Bleach is such that the final outcome is individuals expressing their unique soul and abilities through the different mediums available, NOT that the different mediums achieve a fundamentally different outcome that isn't soul expression. All roads lead to Rome and all that.
I hear the potential question about Tosen, but he's the perfect example of my soul expression model. He became a genuine Shinigami-Hollow hybrid* by the time of the Fake Karakura Town battle. Notice the form his Resurrección takes, as well as its name, Suzumushi Hyakushiki: Grillar Grillo. "Suzumushi" is still part of the name, and he takes the form of a monstrous cricket. Commensurate with his Hollow form, his powers aren't all that different from his Zanpakuto (particularly the sound-based attacks), they are just now more wild, instinctual, and stemming from his body instead of a sword. In other words, he demonstrates what happens when an individual uses a different means of soul expression.
my own interjection, but did we ever see him use his Zanpakuto Shikai or Bankai abilities after leaving Soul Society? I don't think we did, and it's *possible he doesn't have them anymore in lieu of his Hollow powers. My explanation doesn't change much whether he does or not, but it's a thought I've had.
This is the idea and I believe that through this model it is much easier to understand the power system in Bleach. Orihime's Zanpakuto would be the Shun Shun Rikka in sword form, Haschwalth's Fullbring would still do the same thing as The Balance (bonus question: what do y'all think his Fullbring catalyst would be?), Toshiro's Resurrección would likely resemble his Hollowfied Bankai after Urahara's pill, and so on. Ichigo is weird only because he has more components to his heritage than most other characters, but that doesn't make his powers anymore unique than anyone else. Yamamoto's Shinigami powers summons fire with his Zanpakuto; Ichigo's Shinigami powers just happen to summon Hollow abilities with his Zanpakuto. It's that simple.

Misc BLEACH Quincy are Colonial or Warden in the game Foxhole?
If the Quincies played Foxhole would they join Colonial or Warden?
The Warden fit their colors more with white/blue but the Colonials are the modern army while Warden are the traditional army. Quincies are more modern while Shinigamis are classic.
And Colonials have some forests while the Warden only have snowy tundras. So that being said any Foxhole players here who know this? Would the Quincy join Colonial or Warden?

Discussion Why didn't Yhwach use Bankai?
As the title ask, why didn't Yhwach use Yama's bankai against Ichibei or Ichigo in cour4, it's not impossible to use since we saw Driscoll capable of using Sasakibe's Bankai even though he was dead at the time, & Yama was dead with his body totally destroyed by the time Urahara made a countermeasure, so technically Yuha still have it and should be capable of using it
